Fabia Recall

Featured Replies

Why the hell then ,can't Skoda place on its News section of it's website, the use of this VIN No. such check, that may affect your vehicles.

Saves  an awful lot of bad mouthing and gives some confidence to Customers.

Much better than hearsay and nought!!

Don't see how this isn't a safety issue. My vrs (nov 2011) was binned exactly because it lost drive at 80, in an overtaking situation, in heavy traffic. I'm sorry but there isn't anyone who could conv

Got my car back after the oil change ecu update etc, and those stuttering issues I have been experiencing have completely gone.

A very interesting read, later today I shall be contacting my dealership regarding this. My VRS was first reg in Dec 2010, so it will be interesting what they say.   Thanks all.

Just done further internet search, here is a link to Skoda site, Just enter your vin number and it will tell you if there is a recall on your vehicle.

I did, and low and behold, there is on mine......   Definately speaking to Hortons in the morning

Just checked my 61 reg vRS using this site and it says no relevant recall campaigns have been launched by ŠKODA for the entered VIN number.

I've been waiting two days for a reply back from SUK as to whether my DSG oil should be changed. As posted earlier, I did experience a momentary power loss whilst driving, which may or may not be related.

Have you logged the hiccup with Skoda UK YET?

Yes !

Phoned today, my 2013 VRS needs it doing.

Going to book it in as I want them to sort the anti-hijack and switch on the one click to unlock all doors.

Found out by chance my 2013 vrs got the Dsg oil changed by the dealer while car was in for its new engine.

Not mentioned on collection of car, only when I took it back in to find out why S wouldn't engage. A cable needed adjusting and all is fine now just surprised it wasn't mentioned. I guess I didn't ask but then I was only vaguely aware of the issue.

Are staff instructed to be hush hush I wonder?

When exactly was the New Engine Installed,

are they actually saying the DSG had 'Mineral Oil' put in at that time?

Ask for a copy or the Workshop Sheet & parts & Materials used.

Trying to follow this thread and not from the UK...what does 61 reg mean? I have seen other posts stating things like *number* reg and could never follow if it correlates to the year it was sold or made or so.

Cars get new Registrations twice a year.

From 1st Feb to the 31st August 2014

is a '14' Plate,  then from September it will be '64'.

'61' is After September 2011- 1st March 2012

The first CAVE engine Cars June 2010,  were '10' Plate,

the Last were '12' plate.

The CTHE Engines went in from '62' plate cars. After September 2012

Bizarrisimo - this top level domain is in Kuwait!?

Agree, Flagfox shows server as CZ and Domain Nationality as Kuwait, but if you check with Skoda they confirm accuracy of the recall.

Hope that your service book was marked up accordingly in the back section.

I've spoken to skoda cust services today (phone) regarding my 2011 fab estate vrs. I explained about the concerns of dsg oil and they said that they couldn't tell me if it needs doing...so advised that I contact a skoda dealers. They transferred me to a dealers who advised that there is morning on system stating that my dsg box needs sorting or an ecu update. Fingers crossed it's fine...

*nothing on system

Not sure what the above means.

Is it down for change or not?

Have you done your own VIN No check explained by members on hers?

Skoda UK Customer Services can certainly check a Vehicle by the VIN number if you have it,

& by the Cars Registration Number.

They have the same system as the Dealership have.

Lots of Trust Required in this Skoda/VW Database,

Cars have had Engine & Gearbox Warranty Work Already, Replacement Engines & Gearboxes in some cases,

but owners can not be sure all relevant Information has been Inputed.

?

Has anyone asked Skoda UK Customer services if ' Online Checkers' like the one Linked on this thread are 100% Accurate.

Strange if it is,

yet Skoda Customer Services can not Access that same Information when taking a Phone Call.

Maybe from the likes of Owners without Internet access,.

They didn't say anything specific, I'll ask for copies of workshop sheet monday.

Hi all, just a rough update on my daughters 2011 Fabia.

MOT done ok. Was told oil in DSG gearbox changed and part wiring loom on the secondary cooling fan changed ???? I've no idea on that.

Problem has now arisen with the central locking system, it won't lock or unlock with either key. This happened at the dealers, they say it's the key fobs and have ordered 2 new remotes.

The car will now only open the drivers door with the key and to open the other doors and/or the boot you have to use the switch by the gear stick to open them.

Press the unlock button twice?

As 'jrw' says,  give that a try.

It will be interesting to see how different Skoda Dealerships cope with the 'Service Campaign' / Field Action on the DQ200 DSG.

It is a Change of Mineral Oil & a ECU Update for the Gearbox.

So that should be written up in the Service Book, Date etc, and a Copy of the Invoice for the Service Folder.

Its the ECU update that will be interesting,

Can they all do a simple thing correctly and not mess up anything else on the car that should not be effected.?

Considering some are not aware what can be set on the cars they Care for at Owners requests.

Options like 'One Press Opening'  Steering Assistance etc.

Will some Technicians end up with cars back at 'Factory Settings' , or changed settings/reverted settings on items unrelated to the DSG ECU Update?

george

Just read a new thread on here about a new Superb 6 speed DSG OWNER that has also experienced the "Brown Trouser " moment failure.

In the outside lane and just managed to coast to the nearside hard shoulder.

"L& K Superb Estate DSG" 4600 MILES ON THE CLOCK IN 6 WEEKS !

Just checked my car and it is on the recall list.  What does this oil change involve?  How can you change the oil in a "sealed for life" gearbox?

Iirc there's still fill and drain plugs or maybe just the one that open as normal! Sealed for life is just saying the fluid was meant to be good for the life of the car!
