Knee pain

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Bit of an odd question this...has anyone ever experienced pain in the right knee after spending a couple of hours a day for a few consecutive days in their Fabia?

The reason I ask is because I drive around 70 miles a day in my car and by Thursday-Friday my right knee starts to hurt. Then the weekend comes and I don't tend to drive, knee pain then disappears but it soon comes back by the end of the next week which is why I have put it down to driving.

Of course it's could be the way my seat is set up or simply the fact that I wasn't used to driving this much in the past?

Cheers,

Cruise control :)

I get what i like to call 'clutch knee'

My knee kindov locks up sometimes when i try to bring the clutch up slowly (usually in traffic) then i have to wiggle around until it cracks and then its all good

Only happens when driving aswell funnily enough.

You need cruise control and i need an auto

I tend to get real bad cramp in my feet right when I don't need it!

Sat in traffic jams or even in the outs waiting to go in track lil

I bent my right leg the wrong way a few years back, after much physio etc i can walk again... so I know knee pain...
The driving position in the fabia is not ideal, i sometimes feel I need abit more padding from the door to bring my knee to more of an upright position after driving for 4 hours non stop, I found adjusting the seat and steering wheel position took alot of the aches and pains away on the shorter journeys
Try tweeking the seat height and distance from the pedals, helped me :)

I've been trying to get the optimum seat position, however I can't really put the seat lower than just 1 'click' before the highest setting as I am quite short. I adjust the distance from the pedals in a way that I can fully dip the clutch without my leg going completely straight

Once in I find the seat a bit soft for more than half an hour's driving as iI've got a hip problem, which has upset my knee . Driving is easy, as all I dso is move my right foot between throttle and brake. It's gettingmy right leg over the sill that causes problems.

I get a little bit of knee ache, but mostly I get lower-back pain if I've been cruising on motorways etc. for a while. Tempted to fit cruise control, I think that would help a lot.

Yeah I am quite tempted to get cruise control fitted but I'm not sure my model has the capability to be upgraded. It would be a great feature to have

Pretty sure you can fit it to any of them with a bit of work? There are a few threads knocking around on this subject.

Feel free to correct me anyone if i'm wrong.

Tbh it's something I've yet to look into in any detail but I would definitely consider it if I can get it done at a reasonable price

Couple ofyears ago I hired a car for a long trip.Knee got sore, so n with CC. Then I noticed knee was stiff , so back to normal and just kpt adjusting my speed .

I experienced this knee pain last night.

However, I think it was more related to the fact that I'd taken a few heavy tumbles on the slopes with a snowboard attached!!   :'(

Thought I would update this thread. I don't get knee pain anymore since adjusting my seat slightly - I sit slightly further away from the wheel now so my legs are a little more stretched :)

Seat all the way down and all the way back. Will leave you nice and relaxed :)

Maybe if your clutxh is old it will be heaveyer on the foot to press

With the seat down I won't be able to see out the front ;)

The biting point is quite high on my clutch

I travel 100 miles per day in my vrs & have no problems, i put my seat as low as it will go & the backrest just beyond vertical. The new ibiza sport seats ive fitted are even more comfortable than the vrs seats.

I went over on my right ankle several years ago and get some aching from it if I don't use cruise control on a long trip.  Could the knee thing be down to how your seat is setup and the angle of your legs in relation to the seat/driving position?  I would imagine ideally you would want the back of the hamstring nearest the knee supported well by the seat.

I suffered from my Right Hand body lower side getting cold when driving, it turned out that the hot/cold airflow travels from the front of the car and passes between the B post and my RH side body on it's way to the spare wheel well where it exits the car. So as an experiment i bought two long wrectangular sponges and wedged them between the side of the seat upright and the B post,

HEY Presto it cured my body getting cold.

PS. I do have a retro fitted Cruise Control on my 80 BHP 1.4 TDI.

When I fist got my Fab I thought the pedals seemed quite high up, meaning that you have to bend your foot quite a long way back. Think I've got used to it now though.
