Displaying a Tax Disc.......................

Featured Replies

Even though my tax disc expires at the end of December do I still have to Display it.

Or does this only apply to vehicles that need re-taxing

Already covered yesterday, no need to display the disc anymore even if its still current, removed mine already with an expiry date of November.

Quoting the DVLA

If you have a tax disc with any months left to run after this date, it can be removed from the vehicle and destroyed from 1st October onwards.

U got 2 choices:

Legally no need to display new or existing tax disc.

But nothing stopping u displaying if u want to! :-)

Didn't see Yesterdays post Mannyo but I'll leave the thread open to get slated, ( No, I didn't read the Manual :notme: )

Thanks for your Reply

No and that includes the tax disc holder too which some idiot i was speaking to yesterday thinks is a 'legal requirement' to be displayed still!

What, just the holder?

Did you ask him what drugs hes taking?

removed mine already with an expiry date of November.

I didn't even put the laser printer one in mine that was valid for september after the old one ran out

Binned all the discs on our cars last night.

I think I'll get another Brisky sticker to put in its place.

Mine ends in january. I might never remove it :)

MIne ran out at the end of September so removed it.. car does look a bit naked without one though

I've had the tax disc off the fork lift at work in mine since July. Glad I can get shot of it

Took mine out today. Then a good clean of the windscreen

Sent from my Galaxy S5

I thought the more important question now is: will a Brisky 'B' sticker fit into a disc holder?

Really need to get mine off the screen this weekend. Will feel odd though!

I am keeping mine on display on the car and the van as i quite like them.

Just had an e-mail off a certain motorcycle shop.

Aluminium tax disc holders, was £14.99, now £1.99.

Which i thought was very, urm, useful?

As do tax discs...

The one on the Skoda expires at the end of the year, when it does I'll replace it with a Brisky sticker. The one on the Beetle expires at the end of the month, going to replace it with a reproduction '1976' tax disc to match the year of first registration.

I'm going to put mine in a safe place for posterity. Some day these will be worth a mint to car collectors.

Heard on radio yesterday that a 1921 tax disc sold recently for £1500. Guy said that if you got one of the non perforated discs last month that were used after DVLA ran out of perforated blanks they may be worth a few quid to a collector otherwise most discs not worth the paper they are printed on at present.

You can take them out the car now... No need to wait
