Looking respectable now :D

Some of mine from the other day one a bit blurred as my hands were freezing  and some of the wifes new car

Looks great Alan.

Finally got round to giving the Monte the care it deserves today:

A couple of before shots:

Not as bad as it has been dirt wise but the tar was horrendous, and the wheel arches.

Windscreen trims removed along with number plates and towing eye cover, washed and masked off a couple of bits of trim and along the bottom of the windows.

IMG_0355_zpslfq0nyfi.jpg

Yes, I know the mud flap is a bit dirty still but that got dealt with.

IMG_0357_zpshasfv9bm.jpg

IMG_0358_zpsms8fyaiq.jpg

Then I gathered up the mud from the wheel arches...

IMG_0359_zpsuy0dqnha.jpg

Wheel arches washed out, snow foamed, power washed, washed with Megs Gold class including all the door shuts and the metal bits of door that you don't usually see, then clayed with G3 clay mitt and G3 Body Prep shampoo, polished with G3 Professional Scratch Remover with the DA, waxed with AG HD wax and then some Sonax BSD on top, window rubbers and grill trims ect treat with AG bumper and trim care, windows cleaned with Megs glass cleaner, tyres given a quick rub over with some AG tyre dressing, interior hoovered out and cleaned with some AG Viny and rubber care, leather cleaned with AG leather cleaner and some AG leather care applied. Started at around half 8 this morning, had an hour or so break before polishing as it was so hot you could see the heat coming off the roof so I had an hour off and then did the interior while it cooled down enough, then finished at around half 7 this evening. Long day but it's done now. That tar was a nightmare to remove though as it was all over the car, all up the doors, all over the back and quite big bits to.

A nice late evening detail on the .:R36.... finished in Waxaddict Quartz and Fo'Show

Looking spot on there mate! Glad you got around to using the new purchases!

So, finally got round to getting this novice off the ground with a few cleaning products, as recommended by many on our site!  I used the following procedure and products:-

Jet washed the car with a Karcher pressure washer - this belonged to my late father and is probably 20 years old but ran like a dream!

Applied Dragon's Breath Fallout remover on the alloys and agitated with a brush. Rinse.

Applied Bilt Hamber Auto Foam using a pressurised hand pump (no foam lance to press). Rinse.

Removed the hundreds of tar spots with WD40 (the Autosmart Tardis is on order). Rinse.

The paintwork was silky smooth so I didn't get to try the Clay Cloth Company clay mitt.

Washed using two bucket method and microfiber wash mitt with Autoglym shampoo. Rinse.

Dried using waffle weave microfiber cloth and vac to get into those tight spaces.

Applied GTechniq P1 polish by hand (DA PAS6 Pro+ on order with hexlogic pads)

Finished off with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer.

Glass cleaned with Autoglym Fast Glass.

I stayed away from the exhausts and didn't dress the tyres due to time constraints but overall well chuffed!

The timing of the clean wasn't great due to the hot sunny weather so I was conscious not to leave the products to dwell and dry out.  The polish and BSD were applied in the shade of the garage. I must say I was really pleased with the effectiveness of the cleaning products and ease of use of the P1 and BSD.

The car was covered with bug strikes, bird poo and tar spots along with black rubber run off marks - sorry no before photos - doh!

You can't see it but it's on waiting 10mins to cure before buffing off with a Microfiber cloth.

Gave the Superb a once over on Saturday afternoon - full 2BM wash, dried, C2V3 reapplied, finished with QD, G5 topped up on windscreen, and T1 on tyres. Interior hoovered and cleaned too.

Superb looks awesome in red.

Tried to be a bit more thorough today. KKD Blizzard snow foam, M&K Spa shampoo, AG SRP then topped with M&K Show Wax. Wheels sealed with Obsession Wax Taranis.

Looks great Andy - great work!

How did you find the products used on the day?

Cheers Ste. Blizzard is my go to SF, I haven't got much to rate it against but it gets the worst of the crud off. Mitchell and King Spa smells amazing in coconut form, although you can choose from a selection of fragrances. Particularly impressed that it started to dry in the heat but didn't leave any marks after a rinse. The Show wax was easily applied and buffed off although it was a bit grabby without a spray of QD to help things along. I never really understood when people were talking about a wax adding depth to the paint but after using this wax I do now! Slightly disappointed with the beading this morning, looked a little flat in places although I'll add another layer next weekend to see if that helps things. Finally, the Taranis wax from Obsession wax is great. Super easy to use and leaves the Rims very shiny, guess I'll have to wait a few weeks to see how it handles brake dust and road grime.

Just wondering, what is your usual routine for prepping the paint for wax?

Thanks for the feedback.

A couple of points to mention.

1. If its anything like here at the moment. My car is covered in dust, pollen and dead whitefly falling from nearby trees.

This has killed the beading on my car at the moment.

2. If M&K is an outright show wax - then beads may not be the best around. Definitive Show Edition is the same.

The wax is very focused on gloss and depth, less on protection and durability.

In terms of prep - to test a new wax - i always tend to hot the car with fallout remover and clay;

then run the DA over the main panels with a light cleanser/polish.

Followed by a wipe down with panel wipe or diluted IPA - this removes any oils or contaminants.

With this method you give the wax or sealant the best chance to directly bond to the paint surface.

Hope this helps.

Heres mine after applying intensify, cherry , mowed 3 lawns and repainted the railings too so ive been a busy boy ! 13A6C6A7-EF72-47BA-9CBE-DCA6DE46A0CB.jpgF5F6E992-AB07-4D7B-AAF0-9673379081AF.jpgDDEE0AD0-748B-44D7-970C-1C8F1DF50382.jpg7E5C1E52-54A5-4512-8A4D-D6CDEF7E8322.jpgE50E713C-8F4F-44EF-AFCC-8BDFDE0032EC.jpg

    .... i did think you had been quiet today! ;)

Looking good - top job mate

Today my RallyeGreenRapid has experienced the following:
Bilt Hamber Auto Foam
AutoGlym Shampoo Conditioner

Bilt Hamber Cleanser-Polish
Poorboys White Diamond
Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax
Sonax BSD
AutoGlym Car Glass Polish.

It feels very slick, but to really get that lacquer to the kind of mirror finish some of you guys achieve, I think I'm going to have to get it machine polished, eventually.

EDIT:

Oh, I forgot. I also did a little test with Bilt Hamber Korrosol but it disclosed absolutely nothing, so I didn't pursue that.
I gave it a very light going over with a Bilt Hamber clay bar after the shampoo.
