Just got a phone call to say my order for a 1.4tsi  dsg se hatchback model  is locked in to build week 51  14/12  so that's good news as it was the date previously advised,  so looks like it isn't going to get put back.   I notice on this forum it seem the majority of buyers are getting the higher end specs such as l&k and Business and business L.  I've been admiring the pictures posted and comparing them to the SE photos,  well ambition model photos at http://www.nettiauto.com/  and just wondered if anyone knew if there was any difference in body shape on these models.  The top end models seem to look a bit sharper/sportier  which may be down to the colours people have been buying  and the  larger wheels where as the se/ambition model photos I've been looking at seem to give a slightly more rounded look.  I suppose it could just be the angle of the photos.

cheers

It's the larger Alloys Chrissie that give it the sharper look. In my opinion you need a minimum 18" alloys on the car to make the car look in proportion but that isn't practical for a lot of guys but if you can, upgrade the Alloys!

Spoke with Skoda, the unconfirmed build week is 52, however factory is closed then so likely to be 'sometime' in Jan. Why provide a bloody build week when its closed. Ordered 18th Sept

To be honest thought as much. Have got zeus wheels ordered for budget reasons so will see how I go with them and maybe upgrade when my tyres need changing if I feel the urge. I'm upgrading from a peugeot 107 so whatever wheels I have are a massive upgrade ☺

Frustrating. However if mine is being built week 51 and the lads and lasses are on the Christmas wind down mine might be sat half built for 2 weeks and maybe half arsed built if that's any consulation, as I know how my performance at work will be the week before Christmas.

So you might be better off.

You have a good point ChrissyG I'm expecting to pick it up sometime in Feb now.

Update today to say may car currently sat at port of exit. Dealer suggested still should be ok for mid December delivery as there are 5 shipments of cars due into uk this week... Not sure how many each boat holds, but let's hope the owners register gets plenty more hits soon after!

So pretty ****ed off today. Took the day off as car was getting delivered. Was all confirmed with the the broker and dealer, would get a phone call about an hour before arrival.

Gets to almost 5pm and no sign. Rings Freedomcontracts, they ring the dealer. Apparently whilst Freedom and the dealer had confirmed the delivery, the delivery company basically forgot about it. So have to wait until next Friday now. Not happy. Will be emailing on Monday to express my feelings.

This is true, you wouldn't want your vehicle built by the first shift in after the work Christmas party with Czech workers downing a bottle of vodka each (possibly :))

Suspicious. They've maybe noticed we live a couple of miles from each other and are saving on transportation? I've been really disappointed with lack of update from Freedom. It all seems very amatuer.

Changed my order slightly today. Removed towbar prep, since it´s gonna be retrofitted anyway (due to taxes over here, factory towbar is £1800!). I added DSG and Drive Mode Selection.

Wow... thats a lot, but how much is the retro fit going to cost having to pay for the uprated alternator, battery, fan and colling system, plus the cost of the tow bar and dedicated electric pack ?

Is your dealer doing the retro fit to prevent issues with the warranty ?

The retrofit is around £1000 for the 'as factory' solution, when done by Skoda in Flensburg (Germany). I don't need the bigger battery and all that, since I will NEVER own a caravan ;)

Me too, but i didnt want to get into a position with say the car has an engine issue and then they point finger at a aftermarket towbar and say its due to not having x, y and z fitted and therefore invalidate the warranty.

The towbar itself will be an original Skoda towbar fitted by a Skoda workshop. So no worries ;)

Are BWs updated on a daily basis, or is it a once/week thing?

Btw, my unconfirmed build week has crept forward to week 2, so hopefully will get confirmation around the first week of Jan

Dealer just confirmed my change of order. Still no clue about a week of production.

Just curious, but does anyone know how long it actually takes to build the car once it's assembly has started? Does the "build week" mean it should be started and finished in or around that week or is it merely a week they would start the build and it could be a few weeks after that before it rolls of the line?

I'd say it takes less than 36 hours to build.

It takes 17 to 18 hours according to Google

I believe it only takes a day or so to build the cars but then they get transported to the port and then they can wait there for a week or so, once the get to the UK they wait to be transported to the dealership who can then take a week to PDI it so all in you are looking at 4 weeks from build to delivery. if everything goes smoothly. I have hear of it taking less time and more time. I think someone on here had there car held at the UK port for a while due to incorrect paper work. so Take any delivery date with a pinch of salt until its with the dealership.

Thanks for all the replies on the build time.
