I see in the news that a car transporter ship "City of Rotterdam" suffered severe damage (a great big hole in the hull above the water line) in collision with another boat whilst leaving Immingham to sail to Tyneside after having previously arrived from Emden. Boat was returned to Immingham for inspection.

I don't know if it was carrying Skodas, but would hope that no cars were damaged or any delays to delivery are not excessive.

No people were hurt by the away.

Ah crap.........

Crap indeed! I ain't a mariner, but looks like it'll take a bit more than some expanding foam and duct tape to patch up that damage:

No indication on whether or not the boat was loaded or empty at time of collision, but if it was fully loaded I'd expect there to have been some collateral damage to it's cargo... what will this mean for lead times??

Dont want to go off topic - but i thought the City of Rotterdam was from the Euro Marine Carrier Fleet which only carries Nissan and the other ship was a DFDS Ferry.

My baby is awaiting a boat trip!

Hopefully it was Nissans on it. A few dents to the bodywork of that Juke can only improve its looks!! ;-)

I think I may hold the unfortunate record of the longest leadtime on an S3 to date...

Rough timeline:

20/06/15 Ordered with Lease Company

15/07/15 Ordered with dealership

20/08/15 Ordered with factory

09/11/15 Car manufactured

14/12/15 ETA to dealership

22/12/15 My guess/hope of delivery to me

Pathetic experience... thanks to nearly every party involved in handling my order.

Collecting my Brown SE Business Estate on Friday.......

Took the plunge (after a long line of Citroens) and ordered a 2.0 SE Business DSG Estate yesterday.  Petrol blue.  Only extra was a spare wheel.  The PCH price was too good to ignore

Confirmed build week 1

Nearly there :)

That's interesting - a confirmation of build week about 4 weeks ahead!

Collecting my Brown SE Business Estate on Friday.......

Look forward to the photos of it!

Ordered my SE-L in Petrol Blue with extras, on the 25th Sep.

Was given a week 50 build week. It moved to 51 then back to 50. Dealer informed me on Monday that car is built and released for shipping (status 30???), seems about a week early. They have warned that it could still be up to 3 weeks until I pick it up, which has been the same all the way through. So the race is on to have the car before Christmas, but I think it will be in the new year. Was thinking that it may be better to get the registered in January as this would increase the resale value in years to come

Today got a reminder email from Skoda of the insurance and their finance offers, also of their Facebook page and apps. Seems like an automatic email triggered at a certain point in the process. Question would be have any others got this email and if so long before you got your car or wee baby.

My reminder letter came from Skoda on 20/11/15 and I picked my car up last Friday - 04/12/2015 if that helps. It was well worth the wait from an August order!

1.4 SE Estate in Petrol Blue ordered Sept 26th - a few extras ordered (panoramic sunroof / heated screen).

I had confirmation today that my car has moved to Status 20 - Build week 52 confirmed.

Anyone else know if the factory shut down will impact their cars chance of being built week 52?

Not sure what the official line is but assume the factory is actually open and working as normal week 52.

It sounds like Skoda have been overwhelmed with the number of orders for the SIII and this is manifesting itself in significant order delays in some cases and cars being built not quite to spec in others - or orders (such as beige interiors) now being refused or cancelled.

Whilst all of this is understandable it doesn't exactly sound like either Skoda or many dealers are handling this in the best of ways to appease buyers?  Makes the likes of me (currently in no huge hurry) not to buy for a good while until things have calmed down.

Oh Great news my build week has just come forward to Week 1 2016, Looks like that B***S*** if the factory is shut the first two weeks of Jan. Oh well never mind I've waited this long whats another couple of weeks.

Ordered SE Business on 19 October, current build week = 4
