Probably take it to a garage. That’s what I do with old oil.

Argh, my and my poor English 😁

To excuse myself, I will tell the entire tale ...

I got an old Land Cruiser I am fixing up and my parts dealer gave me 5+1 lt of G13 assuring is "right on" as per catalogue for this vehicle/engine, but the new owner (I am selling it) wants none and wants to stick to old "pink" coolant.

So I said, well, there you go I will get him G12 and use the G13 for mine 280 but now you broke my hopes 😄 on Friday I have to go to get some other parts so I wll just load it up in the car and hope to return it and get the G12 instead.

I will get G12 evo for the 280, as per spec. Curiously, my header tank says nothing. At least I do not have to deal with the "mit silikat" crap 🙂

Sorry for the confusion ....

Old coolant I have a friend with a service with a large tank that they take away for recycling.

I need to top up 1 liter of oil each 4000 km [2500 miles] (Total 5w40 VW502/505), odo 230 000 km [140 000 miles], 2016 car.

now i put in shell helix ultra 5w-40 api sp 5.9 liter (accidentaly a bit over max) and now after 5000 km it is slighly below max, no need to top up 1 liter after 4000 km

is it possible that total -> shell oil change did this or it was something completely else ?

No idea. The oil companies are always “enhancing” their products.

Yes, different oils could "work" differenlty, sometimes engine is noisier, sometimes is not ... lubricant mistery!

I am now running Fuchs Totan GT1 Flex 3 on 5W-40, which responds to both ACEA C3 and API SN required ... will see how it goes, in any case will not last much as I expect quite a lot of traveling in the next few months.

Know perhaps is not the most approriate section of the forum, but since I am looking only for '280' components, I might as well as here ....

Any idea how are the products of akstuning.co.uk

They have a few goodies in their website I might be interested in ... but looking for some feedback.

Any other option is also okay.

Alex is well known and reputable, so you can buy with confidence.

Agree - perfectly reputable company as far as I’be ever known 👍🏼

Suddenly losing 1L in 1000km is weird. Assuming you did check in between.

Mine has the coolant level back to nearly min level after 2 years since I topped up to max. God knows why or maybe just normal evaporation...

Slow loss of coolant is probably water pump leaking. It's a common fault on this engine.

My low coolant level light came on a few years ago. I topped it up & it took another 4 months to trigger the alarm again. I looked but couldn't see or find a coolant leak anywhere.

I had it checked over when it went in for it's annual service at my local independent VAG specialist & they confirmed it had a leak so it was a new water pump, seal & other bits to sort the problem. Not a cheap repair either. Main dealers charge over £1,000. I think mine cost around £750.

Be prepared for a big bill!!

Thanks to both @travs and @LeGrumpy I will not observe the very rich site with a more ... dedicated eye.

I am freeing up some resources and Superb deserves a bit of pampering ... 🥰

What have you got in mind?

Well, as it was correctly advised by @Carlston the 18" rims from the Kodiak, while a delight to the sight, are a bit further inside that the original sizes, and after a while I get this "Lidl cart" feeling.

So I was thinking for starters to get some spacers, but I am torn on the size ....

As seen in the one of these online calculators, the difference between the OE size for rim and tire and mine is 11.7mm.

However, the difference for the 'winter tires' is 8.7mm

As I would like to avoid faffing around with the spacers, which happens I dislike as well, I was thinking of a "one size fits all" approach, but I am torn between 8mm or 10mm, or larger if I am to accommodate only the 'summer' size.

Also, I do not understand if I should also get longer bolts, I have seen and played around only with larger spacers, 15mm and above, but this was aeons ago ....

After comes the rest, for now this is my priority if I can sort out before winter swap ....

Thanks for any opinions 🙂

On the Superb MK3, non-standard 225/50R18 7Jx18 ET43 5/112 57.1 wheels could be used with 10mm spacers. This will change the effective offset of the rims from ET43 to ET33.

Make sure the spacers are hubcentric, so that the wheel is centred on the hub.

With 10mm spacers, the wheel bolts need to be 10mm longer.

Perhaps look at Eibach spacers and wheel bolts.

The standard WHT001812 wheel bolts have a specification of M14x1.5x27

Thanks once again Carlston!

I feel a bit behind with other things but I will get moving with this as winter season nears and can do together with the wheel swap.

I see also H&R are an option for spacers but no bolts, rather get everything together.

Will update!

Ordered spacers and bolts, will update in due time.

Is this a suitable option and price for the rear anti-roll bar?

And the other link - brake fluid shield - is it something worth having or I better spend my money in something more useful?

Think the Hardrace one gets very decent reviews and a bit cheaper. It’s 25.4mm rather than 26mm but still plenty good enough for tracking the car. Mine is 24mm Whiteline but if I had it again I’d go with Hardrace.

I have the H&R front and rear bar. No issues. Works very well.

No noise problems with the supplied H&R bushings.

If you fit the rear bar as well you will need to upgrade the drop links as the factory units will snap.

Standard Bosch or NGK are fine tbh

Long timer lurker here not sure if I have read this thread before. Have been looking for the right 280 L&K for quite a few years nothing coming up, don’t want a sunroof or massive alloys, estate or hatch fine no white or black and maybe the chocolate brown not my colours. Sportline is a no because of the seat. Own a superb 2 170 combi TDI and Fabia vRS mk1 second one now. Also owned a MK2 TDI octy for over 10 years. If anyone is considering moving on please get in touch, to keep it in the Brisky family.

More info and typos

What’s your budget @gav_is_con ?

Blue one

This is interesting as it is a partial facelift - SKODA written on the back, but it has MIB2.5 as there are SD card slots in the glove box. Leather looks like it could do with a bit more of a clean too but don’t let that put you off. Low miles for the age. No sunroof. Lucky at that point to get digital dash too.

Grey one

Costs more and higher miles but will be a full facelift with the EA888.4 DNFE engine with the decent Continental turbo. Can’t see a sunroof and none mentioned so should be good for that too. Will have MIB3 but money is on the firmware needing updating.
