Of course it COULD be the perfect time for trading up within the VAG range.

Out of the frying pan into the fire as it were. Mind you. the frying pan may actually have lower emissions than the fire of course.

You would think/expect VW AG are underwriting pretty good trade-up offers right now.....dealers must be suffering some pain holding stock.

they have not replied to my response - they may think I was being sarcastic or flippant but it is the weekend It would be kind of interesting to know if they would make a half decent offer. An ex colegue of mine had to drive Fiats because only the Fiat dealer would take them back in part exchange! Maybe we are now stuck on a VAG treadmill for eternity.

The fact that VW haven't moved on warranty periods says something about the product.....particularly when you consider the increase in revenue for the servicing devision of each dealer.

It's a mystery to me as it seems so obvious when everyone is baying for your blood.

Hahaha, that could be correct!

We are doomed!

I'm thinking that I will get on and book my cam belt change ASAP rather than waiting until March. At the moment, I think I will dodge getting the recall work done where possible.

I think that the cars will be slower and as a result of what they do.

Much that was poo pooed just a few weeks ago is coming now to be possible and not just speculation anymore.

There was a post from me about Senior VW Management nor wanting to take up Posts in the United States of America,

or to even travel to the US, well that might just be proving to be correct.

So much possible corruption, certainly deceit and conspiracy,  and the possibility of Prosecutions in various World Regions, and now there are many Investment arms of Countries that want Court Actions against VW.

I do hope that many that have had Bonuses and Financial Gain from VW's great success are going to have Assets Frozen until

VW and its Management do recompense those that have been cheated and deceived.

Investors that have much in VW seem to be rounding on the VW Group and trying to Distance them selves from actual

responsibility, even though that is maybe wishful thinking, they will have been happily receiving the good returns

for long enough and happy then at what the VWG was doing with Expansion of the Organisation.

Just part of the '3 Monkeys' when it suited them.

Bank Employees that must have gained over PPI Mis-selling walked away with lots in Bonuses and Salaries that

now the Customers of the Financial Houses still are having to foot the bill for in Compensation.

Hopefully it is not EU Tax Payers that are going to have to foot the bill for Fraud in VW while those at the top

live in great wealth and suffer no loss to their standard of living.

At least the Freedom to travel around the World being Restricted is going to have some of their lifestyles curtailed

until the Authorities in World Regions sort out just what if any laws have been broken.

For those wanting to catch up with the U.S. perspective - today's NY Times : How Volkswagen Got Away With Diesel Deception.

well spotted! Looks like they added a '0' on the end. I guess the dealers need to start recovering sales losses somehow!

Another thought on the possible outcomes of all this scandal

, I wonder how many Dealers will close their dealerships with  their particular  part of V A G.  Many Main dealers have   " contracts "  with several, manufacturers and if theirs with any part of VAG suffer as the result of the  "  deceit ", they could chuck it and soldier on  with the other makes?.

This has already been happening with VAG/SUK moving to the using of less individual dealers and more multi-sited dealership groups and with other changes (forced taking of end of quarter stock) have resulted to Skoda being in the bottom few of what the dealership network think of Skoda as a franchise brand but is likely to get worse as dealers call for VAG to take the hit on forecourt diving values and lower sales.

My dealer already moved to Dacia/Renault and no doubt glad they did and are particularly with Dacia brand are going great guns and retaining main of their Skoda customers who see Dacia-Renault as a replacement brands and with synergies resonating with what were Skoda's core values in the nineties and noughties.

I I'm not sure VW have much of a culture of listening to their customers beyond praise......selective hearing with a tin-ear.

Bloomberg news channel reporting VW workers have stated that during the EU emission test the test vehicle had its tyres pumped up to the absolute tyre maximum and not the "normal" level as required but also that the diesel fuel was "doped" with motor oil to improve the tailpipe output. That is a new one on me but continues to underline the "rolling" nature of the VW confession. Shame it is affecting Skoda as the Czech people are so nice and do not deserve this situation.

Senior VW executive regard Skoda as a stepping stone to better things in Audi or VW.  I actually hope Skoda get split off and bought by another car manufacturer.  The engines and gearboxes made in CZ/SK etc are actually not too bad and less likely to be involved in the scandal ie small petrol engines and it would be good to see that when German sneezes that the Czech Republic etc does not catch a cold.

I've always thought that the engine and transmission components arrive at the Czech factory in a box direct from a German factory.

I think the 1.2 TSIs are local produced and at least the excellent 7 speed DSG which was Kesler is now also locally produced.  Once set up and running smoothly why pay a German worker 20 Euros an hour when you can pay a CZ/SK worker 10 Euros and hour and they are less troublesome?

The NY Times has another article ........EPA expands On-Road Emissions Testing......"......to cover all makes and models of diesel cars".

Some reports from the USA that VW of USA are starting a "TDi Goodwill Program".  This appears to be prepaid cards, one at $500 to be used anywhere and another at $500-$750 for use at VW dealerships.  There's no clear evidence on whether or not acceptance of these will disqualify you from class action or other lawsuits.

I sure they will be wanting people to accept the offer and sign away your their to seek further restitution.

ABOUT BLOODY TIME..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then lets all kick the absolute carp out of them because quite a few of the Euro6 cars have failed other study tests & will fail these tests...............like I said before in one study 200 Euro6 cars were tested & 195 failed, Volvo, Renault, Hyundai the worst................

Mind you the Zafira fails all known emissions tests when you set the heater fan to max...........

On-road is a separate issue though.

Nobody claims their test carries over to the road.

The difference is that the other manufacturers could actually meet the test requirement without the sort of cynical manipulation of the ECU that VW employed.

What difference to UK / EU drivers is there in what the EPA in the United States of America?

Other than it has and is bring things to a head and likely to cause many job losses.

You have your own Governments and Agencies in the UK / EU that are part of the turning a blind eye to their Major Vehicle Manufacturers kidology, building and testing to meet the EU Tests and using and creating loopholes.

Are you blaming the EPA for job losses that may occur due to VW cheating?
