Breaking VW Emissions Scandal -Mk I

Exactly.  you wonder why there are lots of different tyre types and compounds and sizes,  one type in different sizes should cater for all passenger cars.

After all they only need to do 70 MPH in the UK as a Maximum, and then this Speed and Load rating stuff is nonsense.

Then different Fuels and Engines and power outputs, and front and rear wheel and all wheel drive, and Sports cars,

what is that all about?

Just have Lada, or  Dacia in different sizes and that should have everyones needs covered.

My new Dacia is very good. Huge boot, cruises at indicated 80 mph, sneak up behind a BMW at an indicated 105-110 and flash the lights to the 520D to get the way, cost about 22p per mile to run so can pocket the other 23 p per mile or so, cool.  Fully loaded sat nav, phone etc.

Do miss hiring the Lada for a fiver a day, great work out for the biceps too, sadly not any around now as all shipped back to Russia, still I have the great Dacia (and the Jaaag (was that an S type in the new Bond film in among the others AMLs, Jaaaaaags etc?)

Dacia came with Contis as original equipment which are OK-ish, now on bigger Nexen All Seasons, fab.  Pollution not to bad at Heathrow today though East London was nudging on the medium area.

The "Ditch Finders" are usually sat behind the wheel, not fitted to one.

err..yes  it still is counted as frontal x-sectional area also..............look at the car from the front...........lower the car you don't see much of the tyre from the front.........raise the suspension, you see more of the tyre from the front....therefore it is frontal x-sectional area..................

Perhaps you should reread my post.

I want a V8, a V10, a flat 6, RWD and 4x4. I want petrol and diesel, differing tyre sizes front and rear, an economical car, a fast car, a car that makes me feel good. If short I like diversity :)

Very nice, but I know which one I'd have in a heart beat (assuming I was rich of course)

Perhaps you should reread my post.

Yes I have but I still can't get any more info.................want please explain what you mean in a clearer way?

The future.  Let us try and forget the Diesel NO and PM and petrol CO2 and we can convert our internal combustion engined cars to run on CNG.

Volkswagen vehicles are wonderful with fantastic Aerodynamics, fantastic door seals, mirrors spaced correctly,

lowered cars, technically advanced engines,

a CEO Martin Winterkorn that was the Engineers Engineer, the man with the Tape Measure,

in control of every part of the Design and builds. Gone now.  Away,

somehow VW was in the hands of Rogue Engineers and Technicians. so when will we hear exactly who,

and why and when?

As it turns out, there are Irregularities,  the new CEO had to be heading investigations before he could know that.

Top bloke, finger on the pulse.  Not.

More time looking at VW's and less at Hyundai and he might of still been in his job,

but doubtful the dirty deeds were done before 2011, and more since it seems.

Where are they all now?  the Yes men, the tape carriers.

An excellent posting but as for the last bit, I don't think the affected countries other than Germany will allow the matter to be swept under the carpet, America certainly won't and have not some others  banned V A G diesels, and now maybe petrols as well in view of the latest disclosures.

Without wanting to trigger the conspiracists harping on about new world order and some link to the Nazis or Templar's, I do think its well within the realms of possibilities for America to ask for some Geopolitical cooperation, maybe for greater assistance in Syria and add pressure to Putin's growing strength in the region in return for the regulators suddenly realising they had faulty test equipment after all and the cars are within tolerance all of a sudden. Someone misplaced the decimal and suddenly its only 0.4% over the legal limit not 40%. See where im going? Maybe the UK could be pacified by Merkel agreeing to some of the treaty changes to the EU and make Osborn & Scameron look inspired for the UK to find an flaw in its test equipment or move the goal posts so that its more lenient. Things are done politics in back rooms with brown paper envelopes changing hands the same as goes on in normal business. The UK has the most stringent anti corruption and bribery laws. Im not even supposed to accept bottles of Booze of suppliers at Christmas i clearly remember signing something legal. Guess what my house is full of booze at Christmas and my suppliers stay my suppliers.

Nissan/Renault's Carlos Ghosn, (European manufacturers peak body rep) says light diesels have reached their peak and he expects a decline from here due to even more restrictive emission standards and public perception.

Not news to many.

Without wanting to trigger the conspiracists <LOADSA UTTER TOSH>

I wouldn't worry about the "conspiracists", you should keep an eye out for the men in white coats.

i find it strange and hypocritical of the Yanks that they complain about emmissions from VAG diesels whilst apparently according to the BBC, sales of gas guzzling SUVs in the US are going up?

Interesting debate about Lightning versus Lightening!

Colin Chapman's philosophy at Lotus racing was "simplify, then add lightness".

Unfortunately the EU way is add complexity and regulations that make cars heavier.

Add the drive (excuse the pun) for ever decreasing emissions and it's easy to see why manufacturers look for other ways to improve their cars environmental performance. I'm actually quite impressed that VW used this 'cheat' technology to improve their cars ratings - shows thinking outside the box.

Having said that, I notice that car sales figures due out today suggest that VW sales are down 8% in the UK for last month, so bigger discounts are (hopefully) on the way. Which is a bit annoying seeing as I've ordered a new Fabia for my daughter, but then we will probably be replacing one or two cars next year so may benefit then.

Vauxhall is with VWG on emission problem... but not by cheating device...

So if Vauxhall have an emissions problem, how did they get certification without cheating?

Skoda sales down 3% last month. Vauxhall sales down 16%.  Hmm.

Bentley and Porsche up 32%. Even Ford down 9%. Can't this be something to do with September's rush of new plates?

But its a comparison against same month last year isn't it ? IIRC so that phenomenon wouldn't change the % swing.

All this and I read this morning that NASA sciantists have discovered that the ice is growing not receding, Also India are opening a massive amount of coal fired power stations pushing out tons of crap. What the hell are we bothered about VW cheat device for only the global warming zealots are bothered.I wonder how many of these people drive a vehicle burning fossil fuel?

You really shouldn't take everything you read in The Daily Mail too seriously ;)
