If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

"Aye Jim, I'm trying, but I can't change the laws of physics"...

Just got a new letter today dated April 2016.

Apologising for the delay etc. due to the volume of complexities!  It goes on to say there will be multiple software updates across the remainder of 2016, and that the aim will be no changes to the engine output, fuel consumption or performance.  But only as an aim?  As Wino said above, 'the laws of physics'.....

They can not find solution for 2.0 tdi, what will happend with 1.6 tdi then. That "magic piece" of plastic is even one more complexity in this story :)

Do what im gna do. Ignore any update. Problem solved

I am afraid that in Austria I have only 2 possibilities:

1. Sell the car

2. Go for update

Why is that, does the car not run well?  Why not just keep it?

Another letter saying not too much really! I'll stick it with the others....

@GoneOffSKi

No update (if update is available), no MOT pass

ppejic, but as you know,

The Volkswagen Group (Skoda bit of it.) has to see you right. Not con and cheat and cost you anything.

If your car 'Has to go in under RECALL'  then it needs to be right.

They have to sort it out, and if they can not with the car legal and performing 'as the aim' to,  then recompense you.

Issue Fuel Cards if the car uses more fuel, replace the car if it losses power and you need a car with that power.

Austria is at the centre of Europe as far a Legislation, surely your Government and Agencies are not letting VW take the Pith out of you!

Yeap, but one thing could be lab tests and totally different is real llife onroad results of consumption and performance

One thing is how many people use Fuelly and the likes, run real cars and keep mileages and MPH & know how their cars / vans run.

& VWG run fleets of vehicles,

so it was and is simple,  they could have invited some real Volkswagen Group Customers and owners of vehicles to get 'The Fix' done,

Volunteers that have no connection to Volkswagen.

Problem is that VW can not sit Mobile Dynos at a few Main Dealerships and invite the Public to see 'A Fix' done,

then have their car on the Dyno for a before and after, and then given a Fuel Card for a month at VW's expense.

They would rather spend Millions on Advertising, fast tracking out New Models, Advertising & Lawyers.

They are not winning back Customers Trust,

some advisor should tell them to 'Stop Digging' they are just getting deeper into the sharn.

Depends how many VW shares the Austrian government holds ?

^^^^ Exactly,

and why the UK Government seem not to give a rats behind on the matter.   Happy for it to just go with the Flow.

(Even a Flow Fix that does not work.)

Vested Interests.

No compo for Australians

Interesting to note VW indicated they don't want to bring forward a 'real world' test for their new Tiguan instead intending to wait til it becomes the world standard in 2017.

If there was no problem doing it, it beg the question, why..........wouldn't it be good pr ?.

There is no perfect fix, if there was they would have built the cars with it originally....

There is no perfect fix, if there was they would have built the cars with it originally....

It was all about entering the U.S. market and the CARB standard in particular.....seriously tougher than anywhere else.

Merc owners are trying a speculative law suit on the suspicion of a cheat device

Merc have been quite open that some of their units that also appear in GM Models have software that reduces and completely defeats the emission system at certain temperatures.

But as the test is done at regulated temperatures they claim this system complies with all legislation even if they are dirtier than VW units on the road.
