Hey, I sometimes have carrot sticks and the tropicana rather the cappuccino, my body is a temple, a pagan temple but a temple none the less.

and getting loop charge without attaching cables would be nice. As long as it does not attempt to suck all the surgical steel out of my body off course.

It might not suck the steel out, but if you were lucky you might not need to turn the heater on if it's a cold day.  The magnetic flux plus the steel in your body might keep you warm without the heater! :D

@shyVRS245 Hey, I remember you lecturing me about your healthy life style. Looks like you're just like all the other chav's queuing in their modded souped up motors waiting for your 200g cholesterol fix.

Not even parking up and walking in?

Or just too busy watching Golf on your mobile?

Listen xman you couldn't pay me enough to eat a McDodgy meal, We like to go for a 7km walk like yesterday and our route takes us past the poor souls who are driving souped up Fiesta ST's whilst they wait for their vital organs to shut down. We had Aberdeen Angus Beef slow pot with parsnip, swede, potato, mushrooms, carrots, leek, sweetcorn.

Is that why you have to visit the bathroom every 90 minutes now?:rain:

The Temple of Doom or a Grade A Listed Building to be saved for the Nation as a ruin,

just maintained as is, not a danger to the public.

Perhaps EVs could be fitted with optional defibrillator for McDs users.

Or just set the Satnav options

  • Avoid toll roads
  • Avoid single track roads
  • Avoid tunnels
  • Avoid MacDonalds
  • Avoid (list of places you're banned from)
  • Avoid (list of places your wife banned you from)

Could even call them Nikki Sixx Special Editions after the Motley Crue band member.

Going round today for one of my cousins birthday party. She rang earlier to tell me to fetch my swimming trunks if I want a session in the hot tub with her. Maybe, but it is a bit nippy today, I said.

I'll ask about the lap dance for you .... I'll mention the 517nm penis :giggle: maybe that'll swing it...:shake:

Love you to post a photo of her draped over your SEL 1.4Tsi Limo, can't ever remember you posting a picture of it? It must be either really dirty or in one of those boring Grey colours, or both. Bet I am right, usually am. Check out my clean interior on the 245 owners section, you'll be jealous.:blush

Limo stays at home, can't drink and drive. And its not grey, white, black or silver. Will walk round, only about a mile away. Lots of great food, booze and hours of dancing.

Washed the car 2 weeks ago which makes it exactly once in 13 months from new using best quality Carplan shampoo and a value sponge. Looks good enough. Never looked dirty in the first place.

Pity those with OCD, there's more to life than detailing!

I wonder if you have to unplug an EV if you wash it or if its raining?

I'm off now......

:music:Party on! :party::inlove:

Re depreciation on EVs

The shortage of supply means they are actually appreciating in value in many cases. Renault zoes in particular are going up significantly.

I love driving my EV, it’s the smoothest drive ever and the instant torque is so addictive.

I have access to free public rapid charger, takes about 35/45 mins to get back to around 130 electric miles. My first 1000 miles have been free, whereas that mileage in my Golf R would have cost me around £200!

I've done 8000 miles so far in my leaf. Total cost approx £28

Personally I don't find it a pain to refuel my current diesel car.  There's a station right on my route to work from my work, it takes me a couple of mins refuelling to get 600 miles range.  I can also hop in my car and just go, without planning a long journey like a military operation.  And that convenience, to me, is the sort of things EV's need to overcome for greater take up.  Researching where there are charging points available before I run out of range, checking online to see if they are in use or broken, and can fast charge with the right coupling for my EV, planning alternate charge points in case the first is unavailable/broken when I get there, etc. might be an entertaining hobby to some, but not me.   I went to Stafford not so long ago 3 1/2 hrs down 3 1/2 hrs back, no thinking required, one tank of fuel and no time wasted refuelling.

A number of times each year I do round trips in a day to Englandshire of 4-600 miles.  I don't take rest breaks of an hour or two after every hour of driving, I go straight through with perhaps one pit stop comfort break of 5-10 mins.  Typically there aren't (at present) any quick chargers at my destinations.  I have no intention of putting myself out specially hiring a vehicle for these journeys when I have one I have paid good money for sitting there, or specially taking long breaks in an already long day just so my EV can get enough charge to go for the next 100 miles, or hypermileing along at 54 mph on the motorway, tailgating lorries to cut drag and eke the last bit of energy out.

I don't have a garage to keep an EV nice and warm in in winter and let it recharge, so I'd find refuelling an EV more of a faff than my dirty old diesel.  Better motors that can improve range by using less power, and weighing less meaning more battery weight can be added, bigger and better batteries, and more (and better) charging stations will see more people shift to EV's.  And that's whats hopefully arriving in the next few years, when those sort of things make it into production cars, and fillings stations can charge at far faster rates, EV's sales will really take off.

I don't typically tend to do that sort of trip, if I'm going to England it is usually easier to take a flight or occasionally the train. I had to go to Stafford a couple of weeks ago and just to see how it would be in an EV I opted to take the car. This was with the army so we drove to the army driving safety rules, ie stopping every 2 hours for a break. To be honest we stopped before the car needed to charge because our bladders told us it was time to stop. By the time you park, go in, find the loos, then grab a coffee and come back the car is recharged. We did plan theoretically where we would stop but bladder range proved to be more of a restriction than the tech in either the car or the charging infrastructure.

As for keeping the EV in the garage in the winter, I keep mine outside because it can pre heat and defrost. We keep the petrol car in the garage because it needs more protection from the cold (or we could leave it outside and scrape every morning but that's a pain in the posterior).

Is that the cost of charging the car at home?

Better than getting hit both ways..cost of fuel and depreciation. Taking advantage of free electric whilst you can offsets some of the pain.

If we all sit on the fence and do not adopt or take up technology as it happens how can you expect to progress or for it to become cheaper?

No that was on the motorway. My home charger only tops up when the solar panels are generating a surplus, which is most days. Plus I use public chargers at the gym, vthe shopping centre etc
