vRS230 to be dropped very soon..

The octavia's card isn't it's speed... it's it's space/combo setup. Not many 200+ petrols with a 560+litre boot for less than 30k, stil la heck of a spend, but if you need space and want to have some fun on your commute. It's not a bad compromise.

  • The dealers don't know anything more than we do on this very forum, probably less actually. I'd take what they told you with a big pinch of salt.

Just spoken to my dealer.    As from 5pm last night ( as we all know ) Skoda are taking no more orders for the 230 Manual or DSG (and the 184 Tdi 4x4 Vrs DSG)   All stock orders/demonstrators have

I wish I could like this sentence more than once......

If this is true, then I'm a little sad for anybody who's be thinking of grabbing one and may now not be able to, because I've had mine for about 3 weeks and I can tell you all it's an awesome package overall. As I've already got one though, I'm wondering if the limited run (six months or so?) will help residual values a bit!

Plus 230bhp in today's world isn't actually that quick for a petrol.

The Focus ST3 I'm getting is 250bhp (can be Mounttuned to 272bhp and retain the warranty), has more toys than you can shake a stick at and I'm getting it for just over £23k.  £5k down and 36 lots of £210.

Skodas are good cars, no doubt about that, but I wonder if their compass is not showing true north with their target audience and what they're churning out of the factory.

I guess they suffer from being last in the pecking order of the great 4.

great 4 as in Audi/VW/Skoda and Seat? if so then I don't really rate the Leon at all unless speed is your thing as I found the interior a bit boring and the ST a bit ugly/misshaped.. but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder..

to be honest I would have been in an A3 S-line Sportback if it weren't for the dealers and the cost of all extras to get to 230 spec is a crazy amount! I like my Skodas so happy with my decision :)

they have less than a day to decide before order books close!! Brian Dod at Hayselden (great chap to deal with by the way :)) reckons they should make good residual sense as there hasn't been that many sold so will be sought after come 3 years time. I got a great deal on my mk2 Blackilne, £11k valued today, could go down a little if I have to wait 3 months for delivery but not bad depreciation to say I paid £17.295 for it 3.5yrs ago..

Don't believe it.

My previous car was a Ford Focus CC, they didn't make many of them due to problems with the roof seals (as did all other hard-top cabrios).

I think I got 4k after 7 years on a £22k from-new purchase.

That's 82% depreciation on a car that had done 37,000 miles, been garaged from day one, only ever been fed Shell V-Power (as it was then), had a full service history and looked like it had just come out of the showroom after it had been washed and waxed.

If I thought it was an investment I'd have drained it and mothballed it in my second garage and left it for 10 years.

The Focus CC s hardly at the top of a petrolheads list though mate  :D

Mine was the diesel?

Plus we're talking 2006 technology; the petrol did 0-62 in 8 seconds and 135mph top speed so it wasn't too shabby?

I agree to a point; my due-to-arrive Focus ST 250 will do 155mph around the M25 (after I've changed the plates, obviously) and 0-62 in sub 7 seconds.

Technology keeps advancing.

There aren't many 7 year old Fords (or any other main stream manufacturers for that matter) worth much more than £4K.

Depreciation is at it's steepest in the first 3 years.

But by all accounts the 230 is quicker than the focus, focus suffers very poor torque steer and the 230 like the golf performance pack gti's are very under estimated with there power, plenty of pp golf's been dyno'd at 250bhp on various dyno's. I'm not writing focus off as I looked at a stealth grey st-3 nav estate with black pack and it was indeed lovely just wasn't fan of dash layout and cheaper looker dash plastics

The problem is although that would be great, skoda are no longer as 'good value for money' a tsi 280 4x4 estate would be what 32k which at that price point opens a lot of other choice of manufactures

Maybe...

Don't see why they couldn't slot it in under the Golf R as the VRS is under the GTI in terms of pricepoint. They would save money in the same places and slot it into the pecking order.

But then you've the leon st 290

Sorry, what I was getting at as that not all residual values depend on condition and mileage. Although your Focus CC was mint, the fact it was not really a niche model with limed production figures won't have helped the depreciation.

We're hoping the vRS230 with its relatively short run, the diff and spec will fare better than the regular vRS as further down the line it will be something that appeals to an enthusiast that's all  :sun:

Just spoken to my dealer, My 230 Order is safe . Face Lift Octavia out next year, a year early.

Confirmed :( It's today on factory orders. So the week I put into a video is also wasted.

If you want a 230vRS, then it's today only ( unless a PR person changes their mind next week :S ) So, get a discount price >  https://cars.briskoda.net, 5 to 10 mins later > Order it today via UK dealer :D Mats and full tank of fuel included too.

If I could afford one I'd be doing this, it was a lovely drive.

This sort of conversation will probably happen:

230 is limited, we're ending it soon.

Ohh look people want a 230, let's drop another engine in it, to make it a bit faster.

(2.5L 5pot anyone, while it's being run out? - Yes I admit it's unlikely)

Turn this site into a subscription-only service (The MG one I was on was £12 a month) - sorted! All it gave us was access to the FS section, a different coloured username, and a bigger PM mailbox lol

Without going to far off topic, paywalls don't work, most are backing out of them now. There can be more done for freedom for sure, it was; and still is, more a formalised donation than anything else. It does need to evolve with input.  I'm more than happy to take this to email to discuss things I can do to improve :) Just so as to not dilute this topic ;) forgot it also offers unlimited uploads / storage for pictures. Whilst not class leading, it's something else :D

doesn't the 230 come with mats anyway? I never bothered to ask for anything from a bartering point of view, I just get on with it and if the price is right and the dealer looks after me then that's enough :) don't know what else I could of asked for as a freebie?

Mats are standard fit..... Is this an extra set for free??

Does the 230 have built in Wi Fi ?

Good point, so many of the models don't come with mats, more cost cutting. I'll try to alter what I type to free mats unless standard.

But you can always ask for them, keep the standard ones for when you come to sell it.

Im talking to him at the moment via Carwow - Small world lol  :D

Just offered very good price through this forum through cheaper than carwow through southern dealers

I intend to buy a 230 for the new Irish plate in January, after seeing this thread I spoke to my dealer, he Inturn spoke to skoda Ireland who contacted the factory and the RS230 isn't being discontinued (in Ireland anyway) and they also said that the octavia gets a FL in week 2 of 2017.
