Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI ATD

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Most probably there is a lot written on this subjects, I just couldn't find for some reason (noob). I just bought my first car, it is a Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI ATD model from 2004 from the docs, 2005 from the VIN, not sure why. It has 380.000 km, but as I do not drive that much, around 15.000 per year, I hope it will last for a little while. So, the first question that I am really concerned is the oil, I can't google enough of what oil should I use, 5w-30 or 5w-40, and apparently each of those have their own subcategory 504 00? 507 00? Could you explain how this works? Then I have met a lot the QG1, QG2 and QG0 terms, what those mean? How often should I change the oil? What about the filters beside oil one (air, fuel). What in general could you tell about the car, for now, I know that the fan resistor is broken (I leaned it on this forum) as it only works in the 4th "speed".  Also, the passenger front window is not working, it is held by two plastic things so it does not slide down (will it be hard to change?). I want to learn and do the things, at least the basic one myself, so if you have any tips, go for it.

Cheers!

Oil must meet VAG spec. for PD engines, 505.01 or 507.00 is fine, grade is irrelevant as long as it meets PD spec.

Change the oil and filters now and then every year.

The window is tricky, search for instructions if you're not scared to try.
