Hello,

  • I don't bother anymore, there are so many speed camera sites around us it would beep every minute or so, there were three sites between home and my daughter's flat two miles away.   Instead

  • The format of the files is pretty simple, so it would be relatively easy to write a script which generated the database without needing to use the MyDestinations site, or 3rd party tools like POIBase.

  • Since we now have a working process once again I thought I would summarise.  Below works on Windows 10.   1. Download the chosen files for your location from Pocket GPS World in ”Other

Hi Guys

New guy here trying to load Speed Camera POI's (how hard can it be 😏)

Great read, if a little confusing. Couple of problems. I'm a little bit stuffed at present as I can't even get the car to accept me as the Primary !

Once I have that sorted, I'd like to try and load the POI's via the connect hub. Failing that, direct via a USB C stick (21MY USB 'C')

Q: I have a USB C next to the wireless charging tray, ashtray back in the day, and a conventional USB port in the armrest. However, I can't find a guide that say which of these ports are No1 or No2 (primary/ secondary) or which feeds into the Columbus. Anybody know or doesn't it actually matter ?

Thanks in advance, great forum thread

Not sure about the first part, but in my Superb mkIII, the usb-A in the centre pocket seems to connect phone to Columbus, but pluging same into a USB adapter in the cig lighter/ash tray in the rear Columbus does not recognise the device.

I always do my updates using the SD Card slots in the glove box. Both seem to work OK.

If you have the SD slots you have the older (and apparently better) infotainment system.

With the newer one (MIB3) I think only the USB-A in the central box and the USB-C in the front console are actual data ports. The one in the rear ashtray only has power for charging, but no data connection.

Thanks Steve. I think you're right, however, until I'm Primary user, can't do anything 😣 Currently sorting this with the dealer

So, in addition to or instead of POI mapping, has anybody got a camera detector or speed camera warning device fitted

I had a Cheetah 550 in my old VW which was great, no longer made so looking to replace. I.E. Road Angel, well reviewed but pricy and with a subscription

Any suggestions ?

In my 2019 Superb I'm loading the POI database via an SD memory card slot in the passenger glovebox. Am I right in thinking that these disappeared with the 2020 refresh? How does one load the files in the newer model?

My Portuguese is a little rusty and so is Google's it seems but I think the gist was the recommendation to use the front usb-c port instead of the disappeared SD card slot.

I'm afraid this is not possible with the new MIB 3 infotainment system. The functionality to load POIs has been removed. According to another thread (Kodiaq forum?) that is the case at least in Western Europe. Bummer.

Having said that I was completely startled to hear a loud warning about a nearby speed camera recently. Turns out that the online service I subscribed to via Skoda Connect contains an app called Traffication which warns about noteworthy road conditions, like accidents, road blocks, weather as well as speed cameras. Problem is it seems to do it very unreliably. I haven't quite worked out what governs it.

Maybe someone is interested? I have a simple way to upload speed cameras to a Skoda. Just importing new poi and it works.

There is even a warning sound. I found UK and some European countries.

Uploading the POI takes a maximum of 2 minutes, the only thing you need is a USB drive

Hi Kacluk

Looks great on the screen, so, can you please share your simple way of doing it (and any links for database etc) ?

Thank you

Hi guys

Can speed cameras still be uploaded on a 2016 superb with a columbus unit, using https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ with their subscription fee

As i believe back in the day you could use VW's website or skoda's (my destination) to convert for the POI

How is the full process done now using pocket GPS world speed cameras in 2024? (Alternative software/converters?)

Thank you very much mate.

I have managed to add the POI to my Columbus unit using the Seat Leon forum file with alerts.

The only problem is that mine doesn't beep or do anything when approaching a radar. Do you know if there is any way to make it beep? Thanks

That's ood mine does all the time, maybe you have disabled the notification warnings on the mib unit or something, mine even lower the radio\Media to hear the Beep.

I really don't understand the point of a post like this.  The whole point of the forum is to SHARE stuff to the benefit of all.  This post doesn't help anyone.
