Where the damper connects. I had the glove box out the other day and after I refitted it thought "I'm sure this didn't drop down like this"....

Didn't even realise there was one.

I don't, but there's a very helpful video, as its very hard to see it if you don't know its location.

If you didn't disconnect it to remove the glove box then in all likelihood it has probably snapped - its brittle plastic.

Its easier to access from the side with the access panel off, and use a screw driver to click it out and back into place, it hooks onto this bar.(see below)

Just been following the instructions here to install a dashcam in my Octavia.

I've got to say I had no trouble with the glovebox.

I just popped the hinges off then lowered the glovebox, this gave me enough room to get a finger in to pop off the damper. Refitting was slightly more fiddly but even then I just did it in reverse order, popping the damper back on first then clipping the hinges back in.

All told it only took about an hour or so to hard wire the camera.

I've got to say, the new 2 series Nextbase cameras are pretty unintrusive once they're fitted.

I did mine today. I used the Nextbase hardwire kit. I used the space allocated for Fuse 48 which is for Blind Spot Assist, which I don't have and is ignition switched. It was a bit of a tight fit but manageable (see photo's).  I connected the negative to a handy bolt and found a spare nut in my trinkets tray so didn't even have to undo anything.  I bought an imitation Stealth Mount off Ebay for the camera, just to tidy things up a bit.  As has been said above, the glovebox damper proved impossible ( to me!), no matter what screwdriver I tried to poke the damper back on with I couldn't.  Then I used a bit of tape to hold the damper roughly in position and found I could easily poke my finger up from behind the glovebox and latch it on!   Job done in less than hour.

This seems to be the defacto "fit a dashcam to a Skoda" thread so - asking here.

I have a 2016 Rapid Spaceback and I'm about to embark on fitting a Viofo dual cam. I've got curtain airbags along the sides - should I avoid running the cable along the trim and try and run it under the floor somehow?

I ran mine under A pillar trim. But against the windscreen. Therefore not in front of airbags. Although having seen the power of a deployed air bag I can’t imagine it would cause an issue. But better safe than sorry. It’s a struggle to get the cable through at the base of the screen but can be done   I used a plastic tea spoon to help it

I want to mount a dashcam, but i do not want to remove A pillar. I just put the cable with force between windscreen and A pillar trim, under A pillar. I think is ok. What you think?

Removing the A pillar trim was a doddle after reading this thread. Open the door, peel the edge out from under the door rubber and about ⅓ of the way down, push both sets of fingers in until they touch the back of the plastic trim. Now push with moderate force and the top half should pop off. The bottom half should come off with a bit of jiggling. In my case both retaining clips were left behind on the A pillar. Just slide them up to disengage (being careful not to let them fall into the cavity) and slide them back into place on the inside of the plastic cover ready for re-attaching.

Yes...a little dangerous...

I think my idea would work...without disturbing somehow the airbag because it is a little far away...
