Be careful - mine were off for a few days getting powder coated and the hot exhaust fumes deformed the rear bumper area slightly! Didn't affect fitting or looks etc but just beware!

Sadly the reflector comes as a 3, I only bought the middle bit. The other 2 are separate.

Is your car petrol or diesel?

On my diesel the exhaust fumes are not that hot.

Good to be aware though.

Mine’s diesel. The car maybe did 80 miles in the time the tips were off. Maybe a DPF regen in that time caused hot exhaust gases?

That might be it. Good to know.

Possibly that, my car has done 93 miles today alone and the bumper is still fine. I hope it continues!!

sorry i didnt realise you could order the pieces separately.

As long as the car is moving, the exhaust gases should be diffused by the air-flow under the car & I don't think you'll have a problem.

but if you are stopped in traffic & are unlucky enough to have regen running then this might cause more of an issue.

Many years ago, I had a job conducting temperature measurements around the exhaust of the first diesel cars running regen & one of the tests we were interested in was if Billy Business man's cheap polyester suit would melt to his leg as he walked past.

After working with the Neste Rally Finland for more than 15 years, I finally now have the answer to my question:

Why all the reporters wear short trousers? Because of the fire hazard!

Also arriving in preparation for the eventual big detail (which was meant to happen over Easter but thanks to work planning, uni deadlines and awful weather hasn’t happened) is a new wax from a local to me company, Detail Bug. I first heard of them in the summer when they launched their first wax, Hybrid, which is the cheapest custom wax you can buy in the UK and made less than 20 miles from my front door. I messaged them and the owner was back in touch in no time with pics of the wax being made to see if I was happy with the colour and you can also pick the scent. It arrived the next day and I loved it. It totally belies it’s price point so I had to try their new high temp wax, Firefly, when that came out.

I remember chatting cars with the owner of the company and I mentioned ways to make the experience more unique, as he makes custom waxes multi colours now and in nice wooden pots for the extra finishing touch and I am really pleased to see the customisation of the little info leaflet you get with the wax. Really nice touch! I also got a little bug mascot and an air freshener which is a Cherry one and smells awesome, just like an Auto Finesse one and they are my go to for air fresheners.

You can get this one as a custom pot too, but I decided not to this time as I quite like the yellow colour and it’s cheaper to have it as is, and I’m a skinflint at heart! Need to find my tub of AF Desire which is in the house somewhere but I cannot for the life of me put my hands on it!!!!

I used to spend hours waxing, Si products are so much easier to apply and more durable, i'm a big fan of GTechniq C2V3,  It goes on like a detail spray, shines better than wax and lasts for weeks/months. I dont even use a mitt on the car anymore just snow foam and rinse off, clay mitt and rinse again, then a quick squirt, of C2V3 Bobs your mother's brother. there is something therapeutic about waxing a motor it has to be said.

I also love Si coatings, and GTechniq in particular. The plan is to wax/seal the car up this time and work on all the paint repairs that need doing. Once that’s done I intend to coat it with Crystal Serum Light and top up whenever. I do prefer to work with waxes though, much nicer to use and I just like trying new ones.

Good news!!! just got an MIB 2 2017 VW DELPHI now to get it recoded(cp removal) and get a screen, also need the usb connection for it as i know the old one wont work for carplay and andriod auto, any idea what the part number is?

Well done. You will need the longer, green ended USB for the MIB2. I don’t know the part number sorry as I shoved it into place without looking and it is now buried behind the dash. Sorry again!

I'll have to get a towbar for the mk3 when the mk2 eventually goes. Forever shifting stuff about.

You only need the USB, the wiring is there. That looks like the right one though. This is it on the left.

Ahh Sweet, will gave skoda a shout tomorrow for the part so, thanks Sasha.

Just be very careful with car systems. They sold me a reversing camera to the tune of 260 quid in February which has no end of line coding so its useless. I've emailed rang loads of times and they ignore you so I'm going through the credit card company at the moment for a refund. There are loads of reviews with other people who have had  the same response.
