Next mod that is confirmed is LED sidelights. Ordered them today on AliExpress so god knows when they’ll get here. Can’t believe the feeble effort Skoda put in for these, they look awful. The fl with proper lit up whiskers look a much better. I always have the lights on Auto anyway so I only ever have sidelights running with the headlights but it bothers me that they are the only incandescent bulb that comes on with the headlights, as the DRL’s, plate lights and tail lights are all LED and the headlights are xenon so I had to fix that.

Thinking of going back and ordering LED’s for the rest of the interior as I don’t really want to pay lots of £££ for LED’s if I don’t have to. Also, for some reason the left boot light is a bit dodgy, always has been. Will swap the bulb holder out for the spare one I have and see if it helps.

Always have my lights on Auto as well on my VRS245. When I indicate the DRL LED's are replaced with orange strips just like on Audi's I seem in the rear view mirror on motorways when they change lanes or turn off at junctions.

Yeah they do, shame they don’t swipe like the Audi’s though.

I'll let you be the guinea pig for Plasti-dip. See how you get on before I attempt to do mine.

It is dead easy to do. I created a cardboard surround to go around the set of letters to catch excess spray.

Then spray from one direction, let it dry then from another and so one for a few coats and the letter nicely covered.

Remove the cardboard surround, then start to peel the plastidip away. It should split at the edge of the letters. A toothpick can be useful to press at the points you want it so split, or for getting the plastidip out of the inside of letters.

Then clean of any excess of the paintwork.

Found it really easy to do, and it is lasting.

plastidip is easy, i have meteor grey and went for graphic rather than black and it looks much better.

im a few months in with the plastidip and the car is washed 2-3 times per week at the moment and the edges of the letters are just starting to wear, the job itself takes about 1 hour as it drys fast.

Got to say that is a very tidy looking rear with all the matching bits.

Is that black Plastidip? Not sure if it’s me or the photo but it looks like a dark grey. Really suits your car, just wondering is all in case it is the black, as it’s not black enough for the look I’m after. I may have to accept I will have to buy new badges to get what I want!!

the colour is 'graphite' grey, bought on ebay for £12, one can would cover a dozen or more multicoat applications i believe.  It looks a lot bluer in those pics but you get the idea and its really easy to do. the masking is the time consuming part but you dont have to be accurate as you remove the excess by peeling. Its definitely not a permanent solution as it does wear with washing and road grime and salt. You cant put the pressure washer directly on it as i found out the hard way :blush

the only thing i don't like now is the emblem, its too busy and either needs dipped or the rest will be de-badged and the vrs emblem replaced with a colour coded one.

As mentioned elsewhere I have shipped the radio off to be coded so I am running radioless this week. My only source of ICE is my trusty KitSound cube, fits lovely in the cupholder haha

As the weather was nice over the weekend, I finally got around to fitting the valve caps I bought ages ago!

One day, there’ll be a pic of the car, and the whole thing will be clean!! Just need about a week to go through everything. Having seen under the rear bench, I know the whole interior is going to have to come out and the carpets need a wet vac, paint needs a full decon and polish and the wheels want removing, the diamond rim edges need flatting off and relacquering to rid them of kerb marks... it’s a long process!

Everytime I see someone post that they have valve caps like those, someone else also asks “have you greased the inside of them?”.  I believe they have a habit of corroding and ‘welding’ themselves to the valve itself making it damn near impossible to remove. One of the reasons I’ve always just rolled with OEM black plastic ones.

They are OEM Skoda, slightly up in quality from the cheapo ones, but yes I have greased them and I’ve had another set on the Citigo for 13 months now without issue. I’ve never had a set of metal valve caps weld to the valve yet, seems to be a problem that is more heard about on the internet than actually experienced.

It’s to me and to my neighbour. We both managed to get them off eventually but it was annoying.

I had it with some a while back had to get new Valves all round luckily it was when I was getting new tyres. It's the salt reacts with the Ali in the valve caps and the brass of the valve you get a battery effect and it corrodes like a bugger

Greased, cleaned mine and took them off every 2 weeks or so and last year the rears welded on solid, so had to have the valves cut off and have gone back to dull black plastic to avoid the hassle and these don't get pinched.

I must be very lucky, it’s honestly never happened to me. If it does, it does and I’ll deal with it. Got the spare in the boot and my local fitter charges £8 to change a valve so it’s no biggy. It bothered me that I had them in the house and they weren’t on the car so I had to fit them :)

My sister saw some nice black hand grenades and bought me a set, I never gave it a thought until time to check and pump up the tyres  I had to get the Costco tyre bay to remove them for me :D they had welded on a good un, luckily I needed tyres at the time.

ironically this happened to me.     i havent attempted to remove them. ill probably spray it with rust blast or something similar to break the corrosion.

Good luck with that. I drove around for a couple of weeks with wd40 going on and trying even with 2 pairs of pliers with no luck. But I didn't know about greasing them first.

hopefully the rustblast will 'eat' the corrosion ive taken pliers to them but they wont budge.

Your local tyre bay can chop off the valves, break the bead and refit the valve without needing to rebalance the wheel.

These caps sound like more hassle than they are worth

Shame as they look good!

The set on the Citigo have been sound, I am hopeful this set will be the same. If they aren’t, they aren’t. I will take them off if I ever have one get stuck and join the ranks of people who’ve had one get stuck. I must just be lucky!
