Sasha’s Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

We are a bit snowed under with cars at the moment.

We have the MK3 Octavia TDI, MK2 Octavia TSi, Two Yeti's, Citroen Berlingo and now the Citigo 75PS Elegance between three of us.

But the two Yeti's are on lease and will be going back in the next few weeks. The Octy 3 and Citigo are to replace the Yeti's.

One of our previous Fabia's was a 1.2 12V 70PS 3 Cylinder and the Citigo feels much livelier than that.

I’m not taking responsibility for that one!!!! Will just say, you won’t regret that decision. They are a genuinely nice car. I was chatting to a fellow owner the other day in TPS who was asking about it when I was getting the bits for the Octy. He had an identical Citigo to mine and an Up! GTi which looked awesome. I still love the Citigo when I drive it. Such a great chassis. I also like the lack of power strangely haha :)

Mate of mine has a Leon Cupra 280, and took it for some work - he got a Mii / Citigo as a courtesy car and was genuinely raving about how fun it was to drive!

Someone else I know has an Up! GTI on order...

That’s a busier driveway than me haha. We have 3 cars between 2 of us, but that’s about to become 2 cars and a van between us :)

Should end up the same then, a car each and a van. :)

It is a bit of a sad story as I leased two Yeti's two years ago. They were only £99 a month and my Dad always wanted a Yeti so ordered one for him. Sadly he was diagnosed with cancer soon after and passed away last October.

My Mum has been using the Yeti but she's 75 and under 5' so looks a bit lost in it and struggles to get in and out. The Citigo is spot on and we will use it around town etc.

Luckily we have an old property on the end of the street so have off street parking for 3 cars with plenty of room up the side for on street parking so we are not causing too many issues for the neighbours.

Well, sort of. The CLK is my baby and is being sold to fund a self build motorhome project.

That is an unfortunate story and I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully having them returned should bring some more closure to the situation. I live at the end of a road and the road stretches a bit further past the houses, so I can spread the cars out a bit, but we are limited to 3 vehicles. I would love a driveway in the next house (in fact, it’s essential!!) but for now I can work on my Dads drive or go to my friends indoor storage unit when needed.

The exhaust tips are done and collected just now. They look utterly awesome :)

One of my furry friends was interested in what I had bought into their home!

I can’t wait get these fitted on the car. The hope is to get it cleaned over the week while I’ve got some time and I’ll fit up the mudflaps and the rear bumper protector. If I get chance, I’d like to do the badges as well. If the weather picks up how it’s meant to, might get time to start getting this poor car clean!

Shame the right hand side one does absolutely nothing on the diesel except add weight and increase fuel consumption. Also very embarrassing during cold mornings when steam is only coming out of the left rear of the car. Amazes me how many people want to copy the look of the 245 with Gloss Black exhaust tips and Gloss Black 19" Extremes. Not having a direct moan at you Sachs because I know having read your thread how much you have put into your car so far.

Xtremes are a no for me unless they are black all over, I don’t like them otherwise, am happy with the Gemini’s (well, I will be once hey are refurbished black). Tbh I didn’t even know the 245 had black tips, I just wanted these to be black as I hate chrome. The false tip does my nut in, I feel so fraudulent having the false tip, but it seems to be the way it’s going these days, and at least these are proper metal tips with one working tip unlike some other manufacturers where both are fake.

Exactly. That's why I modified my vRS TDI to have 2 outlets, one on each side.

Don’t tempt me, I hate the single exit exhaust! I have to slow the spending down on the vRS as the Mercedes is going for sale and the Skoda spending needs to get in line thanks to a new project starting shortly.

  • Author

That’s nice, and the fake tip is embarrassing, but it’s not €850 worth of embarrassing...

... yet!!! ;)

Don't forget the sound:

I had some time today (of all the days this week, in the rain!) to fit the exhaust tips, so although I’m soaked through, they are now attached along with the reflector strip. I haven’t decided if I’m going to tint it yet or not, so I put that on as well, can always take it off again to tint it :)

Still a good look though and much better than before :)

I would say don't tint it... Its a nice highlight for the vRS - but it is definitely personal preference :)

I’m still sold either way yet. Fortunately the strip looks decent now there is no nasty black stain on it. I know the towbar does nothing for the aesthetics, but it is so useful I’ve left the hitch on for now and I still think it looks better than before. Can’t wait to see it all clean with the new badges :)

I like the black tips, i presume the left one is done in heat resistant paint?

Thanks, both have been powder coated. I have a friend who works at a powder coating place and they cost me a nominal £10 because of that :)

I did say when I upgraded my radio to the Amundsen that I wanted the FL 8 inch screen but I’ve been put off Cars Equipment (who sell the screen for €270) and the non working APP button. I still lusted after an 8 inch screen though, just because I like the size.

Be prepared to see my Amundsen screen on an internet auction site near you soon. I may have just bought an 8 inch Columbus screen... best of both worlds imo, big screen size, matching green button lighting and proper soft keys. I can’t wait for it to get here!!!

Columbus screen works with Amundsen? :o that's cool if so!

Black tips look good too!

  • Author

Yes it does, any screen will work, it’s just a case of the ratio. The Amundsen and Bolero MIB2 have a resolution of 480x800 so they will take an 8 inch screen. The FL Amundsen is 8 inches as well, but for the reasons I mention above (matching green light buttons, soft keys and cost/speed of delivery) I am happy with a Columbus screen. I am happy with the Amundsen 6.5 inch tbf, but I really wanted the biggest screen haha :D

Bolero and Amundsen MIB1 have a resolution of 240x400 so you are stuck with a 5.8 inch screen.
