Can the "whiskers" be coded to be on all the time with the drls ? Tried the "Scandinavian" lights via obdeleven and "whiskers" were on as were rear lights but the light switch was also illuminated as if parking lights were on.

Auto light setting not illuminated. Went back to standard as my other half  liked to see confirmation of auto setting.

Yes, they can. Pop over to the Mk3 Superb VCDS sticky. Coding is in there and it’s the same.

How do you find the cover? I got one and find it a little flappy if that makes sense. Not as snug as I'd have hoped for especially need the flip key section.

Mine are fine. The one for the Citigo is a little flappy due to the key blade but these ones are ok.

I believe you can code the whiskers on in DRL mode :)

Sorry, unclear as usual I know about the parking lights feature even though I’ve never used it on any of my cars, just wondering why the bulbs would be blue from the factory.

I think the meaning here is that they are blue coated halogen w5w. A bit like the Philips Bluevision ones if you've seen those. The blue coating on the glass makes them a bit whiter. Still very yellow and unmistakably halogen though, especially compared to the Xenon and LED DRL.

  • Author

Yep, I have a set of Bluevision bulbs in the CLK as for some reason LED's won't work. I've just never seen blue tinted bulbs on a car from the factory is all, seems like they knew how rubbish the light would be, so tried to match it to the xenon colour. The LED bulbs have more of a blue tint than the LED DRL strip, but when all 3 lights are on (strip, sidelight and headlight) it's a really Nic effect.

saw these and thought of you B)

That’s a cool idea, swap the original LED DRL out for that, get the indicator swipe then, make the Audi crowd jealous haha.

ive looked at the headlight but wouldnt want to pull one to see. i think its integrated into the plastics although there is a gap infront, it would look dope though, you can get them for the back as well :) comes in 3,6,12,18 inch lenghts. im sure there are other brands to.

i might see if i can get a breakers yard broken one and take it apart.

As regards the rear interior lights not working! have you tried disconnecting the complete rear light housing plug? lock the doors wait for a while then unlock the doors, refit the rear interior light housing plug & then repeating the locking & unlocking of the car to see if the lights work again! otherwise disconnect the battery & see if that helps.

MIB2 retrofit looks brilliant! Must be great having a fully functional screen and audio device again, rather than a massive empty space!

It's making me want MIB2 in mine now, though Columbus and Canton presumably is a bit trickier...

I’ll be the first to ask - how did the performance monitor get activated?

Would like to have this on mine.

Well, the screen has always been there, but it wasn’t connected to anything. It’s just nice to have a radio back, never mind anything else! Need to sort the radio station logos out again now. With Canton you’d need a new amp from a MIB2 car with Canton and there are some Columbus modules that don’t have DAB. At you have a nice 8 inch screen you don’t need to change.

I have no idea how the performance monitor has been activated, the guy doing the rework told me I could have it, so I had it :)

Yes; I too would be interested in how to activate the "Off Road" and "Sports" screens as well as disabling the "Drive Green" screen.

I think the off road one has been covered for the pre fl somewhere here, but the Sport screen isn’t so commonly covered. I’m afraid I can’t help with the witchcraft behind the stereo, I just sent it away to be done.

Nice work.

For those wanting the sport screen, I guess a VCDS adaptation channel map might show the changes that have been made?

Not bothered personally, and I'd fully understand if you didn't want to share it anyway, after paying for it all! :D

I don’t have VCDS, so that wouldn’t be something I could deal with sadly. It’d be up to the guy who did the rework to talk over the details of the Sport interface.

Thx @SashaGrace for your compliments, I was hoping yo gonna like it and it looks you really did :)

Sport manu is licensed with FeC/SWaP so it's not enough to have just adaptation channel set however off-road and DriveGreen can be activated and deactivated via adapatation channels as they don't require FeC/SWaP to be installed.

Great job there @pab567 so far the sport Manu has only been seen in the UK on the VRS 245.

Do you know if it is in other O3 FL models but, simply not activated ?

This is in every Amundsen / Bolero software starting from 02xx. FeC/SWaP code that enables it is factory installed in all vRS and Superb Sportline.

It’s great thanks!! I have had a proper chance to play with it this morning and I am very happy with it all. I can now have Amazon Music playing on the CarPlay and the factory nav giving me an ETA on the Maxidot simultaneously which is nice. I don’t use nav a lot, but it’s nice to have ETA’s when busy school staff are ringing me bending my ear about arrival times.

Regarding the vulgar business of money, this install has racked up a bill of £430 total which isn’t bad in my book for what I have gained. There is no way in hell you will find an MY16 vRS with the same spec as my car that hasn’t been written off for £10,995 plus even say £500 for this to be done, so it has been well worth it for me. I have my Bolero for sale now, so hopefully claw some pennies back for that. Have it up cheap as I want it to go, takes up space and any return is a win!

Over Easter I hope to sort out the footwell lighting install and giving the car the full detail it desperately deserves.

Fully working Amundsen for £430 is a bargain!

Well done!

Yup. Another way to look at it is, even with a facelift screen you'd be well under the price of Octavia specific aftermarket solutions for CarPlay head units from Alpine/Pioneer etc, and got a much better end result.

Facelift screen isn’t all that many ££. Could have had a 2018 Amundsen but I would rather spread the upgrade cost for cash flow. I’ll spend on the screen down the line but I am happy with the 6.5 inch screen for now.

You've done well there... £430 for the bigger screen, better resolution, Nav and much greater features is money very well spent!

Oh absolutely. What I meant was, even if you did add an FL screen down the line you’d still be quids in over going aftermarket from the original MIB1, even more so as you have it today. Just impressed me as I’d have guessed at OEM gear coming out more expensive.
