Insurance is an ass, but it’s one of those things sadly. The car is insured comprehensively and GAP covered but that’s just the start. Dodgy repairs and fighting to stay in pocket are all to come if a claim in made if the worst happens. Hopefully it doesn’t, and I’ve not had to make a claim at all yet...

I also jumped on the silicone key cover band wagon, got black with red stripe to suit my black vrs 245 (interior stitching is red, door led strips are always set to red, brake calipers are red)

 

Have you seen the Kodiaq door protectors? I'd like a set fitting to my car if possible and you seem like the perfect candidate to try it out first 

 

 

Obviously it would all depend on space around the door itself when shut and the door shape most likely being different, I know the ford focus RS has them fitted too.

Thanks, I have seen those, but I imagine it’s quite the install unless they start offering them on the Octy as an option, and then it depends how they work. I’ve heard quite a few stories about them not retracting on Ford’s and then you can’t shut the door without damaging the panel behind it. It’s an interesting concept though.

 

I’m getting to the end of the mod list for now, there’s not much more I can do to the car really, without getting radical. I’d like to thank the scrote that thought it’d be really funny to snap my towbar wiring bracket off, snip the loom and disappear off with it! Thanks awfully for that. As the towbar now has no wiring, I’ll remove the bar when I get chance as I’ve decided it’s too ugly and I’m keeping my eye out for a proper Skoda bar with detachable hook and a proper factory loom to retain the cars cleaner lines. Rieger rear diffuser will definitely follow then maybe the front one too. Need to finish converting the rear clusters and front fogs to LED’s and fix the parking sensors. My other half is telling me the car is “too long” and needs front sensors, and as we have no driveway, it doesn’t seem a terrible idea to have them, but I’ve never needed them, never even needed the rear ones as they don’t work haha. Then just deal with the paintwork and the new racing stripe my neighbours have added. Oh, and a new steering wheel...

Some many know that I took the car to Skoda to try and have the A5 camera updated to talk to the MIB2 unit but they couldn’t do it, so back to the drawing board on that one. I’m waiting for some H16 fog light LED’s from AliExpress but it seems to be taking an age for them to arrive.

Nifty. I haven't had chance to use it yet but looking forward to giving it a go next time I'm out in the car.

 

Still no official line from TomTom on them implementing it, but presumably they must be working on it.

Actually, looks like they will support it "early next year", whether I will still care by then depends on how well I get on with Google Maps.

Nice, sorry if I've missed this info but how are you getting carplay on your info unit? 

Retrofitted MIB2 Amundsen from a 2016 car and Columbus screen to get SmartLink. There is info at various points on this thread detailing the retrofit

Excellent, my other half will be happy. She's been lamenting that I've been able to use waze/gmaps for ages and she was stuck with Apple maps 

 

Shame about the A5 camera, hope you get a solution to that one eventually...

I messaged APG in Poland a while back who can do it but I’ve not heard. I’ll keep looking. More bothered about where my fog light bulbs are!!

I fitted the LED number plate lights last night, though I couldn't seem to get them to dim down.. might have to check the coding again tonight.

 

It's that time of the year to start playing with lights again!

Look forward to the H16 led update if they ever arrive. I keep wondering whether to do the fogs as they are the only halogens left now. Which ones did you go for?

It’s so cool, can’t wait for Waze support as well. Bulbs are from AliExpress, will post the link if and when they arrive! Tbf we're not out of the estimated delivery window just yet.

I previously ordered these from LED Perform in France, not as cheap as AliExpress but, got them in a week & at 4,350k they were nice & bright

Best not get too excited... I took the bulbs out to see them and they are all 4 Osram bulbs with H16 written on them. Turns out they aren’t H16. Osram mislabelled a whole load of H11 bulbs as H16!!! FFS, gotta order a whole other damn set now. I took the car apart to check the actual bulbs in the actual holders and I’m thwarted by Osram who have put the wrong labels on the bulbs! So I have 4 brand new H16’s in stock and another 2 and bit week wait to get the proper bulbs. What a palaver

What a nightmare! Osrams from AliExpress? They legit/genuine? I've looked at the Osram LEDriving bulbs elsewhere but can't bring myself to spend £160 ish on bulbs I rarely ever use.

Sorry that’s badly worded, the bulbs in the car are genuine Osram bulbs and they are labelled H16 but they are actually H11. I thought I’d be clever and get the bulbs to match the ones in the car but they aren’t H16. Exactly the problem I had! Never mind though, they are cheap enough not to worry and the build quality on these matches my reverse lights which have been excellent. For £1.37 each I have high hopes for the H11’s when they arrive!

Apologies I've just re-read and I've misunderstood what you wrote. 

 

So the VRS fog fitment is not H16 then? Previous posts I've seen suggest H16 but there are apparently 2 kinds and it's the JP kind you need, not the 5202 kind. Does that mean the H16 JP is effectively the same as H11? So many bulb types, much confusion!

 

Keen to see how they are once they arrive, I got some reverse bulbs from AliExpress and they are fantastic. Perfectly white and crisp with no hint of blue. I'm very picky about this sort of stuff and they are 10/10. Some fog bulbs which have that same crisp white would be awesome!

 

the modification on one lug of the bulb is all you need to turn H8/11 into H16 takes 20 secs with a dremel.

5202 is AUDI and the bulb doesnt have the right angled connector, the connector is round with two wings either side. H11 H16 H8 is the right angled type of connector  (for skoda) and lug size (three fins around the base) denoted by the number . JP just indicates a euro fitment with the right angle. like in the pic below

 

if anyone needs a few sets of 4500K superbrights i have them in the UK (cheap plug) i have three at the minute. I will mod them to fit H16 for you.

They just got back to me about it sasha, asked for my VIN will see what happens

That's the same what I did with my led fog light bulbs; got h8 bulbs and trimmed the mounting posts.

 

You can acquire h8 bulbs far easy than h16 bulbs

Maybe it’s just me! How dare they. I think you need software to do the update that I don’t have, but if you go ahead with it do please let me know how it goes and what you need to do. How did you get in touch with them?

Finally found the time to give it a clean!! Just waiting on the proper fog light bulbs now...
