'Fog light w****r' revenge....

Featured Replies

Bit naughty this, been wondering for a while if I should post it - but ahh, f**k it - it's Christmas haha!

I'm a pretty calm, relaxed sort when driving - I can't remember the last time I had a road rage incident or anything like that. Nothing really winds me up anymore...apart from one thing, for some reason. And this time of year it really seems to escalate.

People who knowingly drive around with their bloody front fog lights on. Arrrggghhh! I live in a fairly rural area which admittedly doesn't have the best street-lighting outside of the town. However, these selfish gits drive around using fog lights completely inappropriately just for their own benefit, even in the town - and to hell with everyone else. I'm sure it annoys other posters on here, no?

However. I quickly noticed my Octy has 'adaptive headlights.' This means that the offside beam moves across to the right at speeds under 50km/h to illuminate the opposite side of the road. Interestingly it stays there on high beam too. You can see where this is leading... :D

Fog lights coming my way = full beam from me, which illuminates the inside of the offending car beautifully, as they selfishly drive towards me. Done with the right timing, they do not have time to react with their own main beam before they've gone past.

To see their stupid gimp faces all surprised and bent out of shape with rage, illuminated like they're facing a searchlight, is immensely satisfying. And completely out of order, obviously. Flame me! :D :D :D

Just thought I would share... ;)

Local rural roads and local people and some chav will remember your car, maybe not kick you in the vag just kick your mirrors in.

Yes, these idiots are very irritating. Seems to be getting more and more common too.

Are you sure you are seeing fog lights and not DRLs?

It's also illegal to use them unless conditions call for them. Same as rear fog lights.

I never really see it any more, I can’t actually remember the last time I used my front fog lights on any car, especially with xenons. Nor have I come across a car with front fogs on that has caused me any discomfort, so trying to deliberately dazzle an oncoming driver with high beam is just irresponsible in my opinion.

Xenon & LED lights are so bright these days that I tend to look down at the kerb to my left now when on country roads facing an on-coming driver.

Even with the oncoming traffic having their lights down, it is easy to be momentarily blinded, so I tend to try to avoid looking at the lights at all.

Karma will be some officer / officers of the law proceeding in an orderly manner with DRL's that appear like Fog lights as some do and they have a driver trying to dazzle them on purpose.

You’d do well to be unlucky enough to come across a traffic cop at all, let alone after dark.

They are so short-staffed, and therefore so busy, that they would be very unlikely to make the effort to deal with a ‘lighting’ offence at all.

Really on the South Coast.  "well well well what have we here".    Rural roads all those dodgy geezers and no police, what is the country coming to?

Remember that the octy has front cornering fog lights... so they're on when you go round a corner...

Remember some have Automatic Fog Lights coming on as they select reverse regardless of the Highway Code and not using Fog Lights if Visibility is good,

or causing lights to dazzle other road users.

So Lost in Translation and these 'Fog Light' must be Additional Lights, Driving Lights , Cornering Head lights, because if a Pair of Fog Lights or even a Single fog light

& using them any time any place would be committing an offence, potentially reason for a prosecution, but not as likely to as dazzling other road users on purpose with full beam in a sneaky snide way..

But that is the EU for you, Type Approval / C&U / legislation that is not in line with the UK Highway code or road traffic laws.

Stopped at roadworks, cars coming through the single carriageway and the car at the red lights driver turns the steering wheel and a cornering fog or headlight shines right as the oncoming car, bike, motorbike or what ever,

they deserve a kick in the VAG IMO.

Obviously not Octavia drivers with OEM fitted fog light bulbs as bright they ain't.

Ever noticed on Briskoda how many ask about fitting upgraded bulbs or lights, even to DRL's and Fog Lights.

Never had someone explain if driving in the town or country on dipped beam because there are other road users why you want 1 fog or 2 to help turn a corner or at a junction and where a Full Beam is wrong, but a Cornering Fog Light shining automatically is OK.

Or where stopping on a road with dipped lights on and selecting reverse and putting front Fog Lights on automatically is a need.

If you need extra lights at the front to see going into reverse then you have Full Beam or manually put on front fogs.

That's not the worst that can happen.

I saw the results of someone do that, 100w headlights, grille lights, bumper mounted spots and fogs. If someone had fogs on, or didn't drop to dip beam quick enough he'd let them have the lot.

He did that to one car and as the driver brought his hand up to shield his eyes, he drifted. The head-on collision was quite messy, a few people didn't go home that night. Irony was the oncoming car wasn't flashing his main beam, he was just loaded at the back. They have been able to work out what lights were lit on impact for a while now.

I would be lying if I said people using their lights for 'show' with no consideration for others on the road doesn't annoy me a bit but to leave someone blinded for a few seconds not able to see the road is maybe not the most sensible thing to do even for your own sake.

ahhh you should live and drive here in France, all the world drives with fogs on in winter, but that's the French for you!!!!

Driving with front fogs on when not needed is also a pet hate of mine - really can't see how people can "forget" to turn them off, as most turn off when you switch the lights off and have to be manually switched back on.

"Cornering lights" are being used a lot round here in place of indicators for some reason.

On your side too Ray.  I'll flash 'em if it's not going to affect anyone else on the road, or just shout w****r as loud as I can.  Doubt they hear me, but I enjoy it.

Do not many off us flash incase the person forgets to dip,  the sneaky wait until right on the car with heads, fogs on is just pathetic really IMO.

That is done just in case they have more candle power than you.

It's annoying but I just think, 't0sser' and give them a severe tut. :dull:

"People who knowingly drive around with their bloody front fog lights on"  guilty me'Lud!

I've switch out my standard h16s fogs to equivalent 100W superbright LEDs (four of them on my vRS) so i really light those suckers up!

now what was that reg? and where did i leave my wing mirror removal tool (Louisville Slugger)...

are you suitably triggered?
in my defense i have Glaucoma and the front fogs are really helpful as my peripheral vision is dim at best.

^^This, completely agree, trying to blind someone is down right criminal. why do manufacturer fit front fog lights anyway unless its for show?, to be honest they are useless in fog anyway..

There's plenty of stuff you can change in VCDS that wouldn't be legal. The fact it's possible doesn't mean it should be done or its legal :)
