So you can use 97 or 99 in the UK as nobody sells 98.  

 

It is worth using 99 ron with a 1.5TSI EVO IMO.   But nobody should have to because Skoda manipulated the Engine vManagement to get the WLTP / RDE / RDE2 results while making a cars behaviour dangerous in some circumstances.

I just returned from my Škoda dealer with 12/2018 Octavia 1.5tsi manual and got fed the same bull**** "characteristic of the car". No new update to apply for engine, only some infotainment sw update.

 

Having went through all of this bull****, I tried the Škoda Scala 1.0 115HP manual and it was a brilliant little engine. No jerking, no kangaroo... just smooth manual 3 cylinder driving. 😞

My 1.5 SEL manual 2019 build originally suffered  fading of power when entering a roundabout. A software patch some time back cured that completely. The car never suffered the kangarooing until last weekend and 9000 miles later. We live at 1000-ft on the Pennines so every home journey starts downhill. The difference last weekend was that this was in Cornwall on the flat. Perhaps the downhill starts have been masking the problem.  The kangarooing was not too bad and only lasted a few minutes. Can any kind soul tell me the identification of the software patches it seems from this Forum that there are two separate ones.  Apart from the single kangaroo start the 1000 mile+ journey was perfect.

The last update relevant to my Karoq and applied was named 24 EU, infact I never got any Skoda info from the retailer/service dept. regarding the previous update to the ECU all very hush hush, for your eyes only, on a need to know basis and the customer doesn't need to know, the so called Q2 update.

What is causing the warning light to come on as I can't make out the symbol as seen in the video?

Its missing windshield liquid, nothing important

I just picked up my "used" Karoq on Friday (1.5 TSI SEL DSG) and I mentioned this to the salesman.  He said he'd never heard of it before.  I told him that I was not going to part with over £20K unless it is sorted.  He went into a panic and talked to the service department.  They confirmed that the issue did affect my engine and apparently they applied the "new ECU update" (that was only released 2 weeks ago) during the pre-sales checks. Obviously being a DSG and having never driven the car previously there is no way for me to know if the update made any difference but it is driving fine 🙂 . No way for me to prove that the fix was applied I am guessing and no paperwork was supplied to show it had been done either.  Talking it on trust that it was done.  

 

Just came from an old Tiguan 2.0Tdi 4motion Auto (over 10 years old) and the only issue I have is that the gearchange is so bloody smooth in the Karoq I never know what gear I'm in. It is also a bit lively off a standing start so I am learning to feather the throttle a bit on launch.  The old Tig was literally point it and floor it  4wd (haldex) with old style auto box) and it was so sloppy it never span a wheel in its life. The gearbox in it was horrible when taking off as the haldex introduced what can only be described as a phantom gear while it went from 50:50 to 80:20 while moving off in 2nd.  So glad to be rid of that.  the Karoq is 2wd.   I will miss being able to plug it around on wet muddy grass though. I can see myself getting stuck otherwise.  I am ordering a tow rope to go in the boot just in case 🙂

I feel so sorry for people having this issue though.  My old Tig had a horrid set of issues from new and I just learned to adapt and live with it for 10 years.  I cannot count the number of times it went in due to loss of RPM at idle when in the warm up phase. If i was at 4000 rpm and took my foot off the accelerator the revs would drop to 900rpm.  It did this until he engine had warmed up.  My theory is that it was part of the "defeat" software for the emissions scandal.  I never did get the I took videos to show the service dept and "it is a normal characteristic" was the response.  I feel for you all!!

I had an almost identical experience when buying my used 2019 Superb (see my post of 24 Feb). The difference is my ECU update was done in late January but presumably the same update as yours. I too received no paperwork to show what if anything was done. Having been driving my car for a month now I'm really pleased with it and am thankful that there have been no hesitation/kangarooing issues.

It does not kangaroo as frequently as before but the 'roo' is still there. The second gear rpm flat spot was apparently removed.

However, it is losing power if I accelerate and release the clutch in the same time when in 1st gear, and if I release only the clutch, the car leaves (with a bit acceleration of the system) with no problems...thing which I found so weird, it is opposite from a normal's car behaviour (like the program line codes are inversed).

This thing is still dangerous in roundabouts, and intersections from my point of view..

Is anyone here still having this problem?

How does your Octavia drive on the highway? I have some louder noises at 130 km/h and rpm barely go up from 2900 to 3200 between 130 km/h and 150 km/h

I was in skoda service in last week if February. They said “we don’t have any new update”. 😞

My MY 2019 Karoq had the updates in April and September of 2019 and has been 99% OK ever since. The article says 'since February .........', so I can only wonder 'which February?' or has there been a further update to make the engine a bit smoother?

A little issue with Honest John since going into Administration is that it was bought by the 'Used car buying platform HEYCAR'.

Has anyone noticed noisier engine since last update?

Been meaning to post but the fix did not stop mine from the judder/ jerking at D1 / D2 when cold.

 

It is just at start when really cold. Tonight was really noticeable.

 

 

Recently drove a newish courtesy car 1.5tsi Octavia SEL manual on a 69 plate, 1800 miles on the clock so I guess must be fairly recent revision engine/firmware. I didn't know initially it was a 1.5tsi and was convinced it was a 1.0 tsi on start up as it sounded pretty coarse and noisy sitting at around 1300 rpm like a 3 Cylinder engine. As I drove out of the car park it had some mild kangarooing/hesitation for the first 200 metres under gentle acceleration. Then settled down. Noticed that every time I lifted the clutch, revs jump up by themselves to 1000 rpm. Maybe evidence for the loss of power fix? Fuel economy was poor around 38 mpg average while I had it, mainly constant speed driving at 40mph.

 

Didn't like the car at all.

Hi  just to be clear this relates to the update done in November.

 

Due to various issues I have delayed reporting back here. My DSG always experienced at start up some jerky behaviour.  Last night it was really noticeable, but after 300 yards it settled down.

 

I hope they do sort this.

“Hi,

I checked software and recall campaigns for your car. There are no recall campaigns or newer software available.“

This this article is another lie.. 😞
