Idling Issues

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right place to post this I'm new here.

Have had my Mk1 Fabia VRS for around 6 months now and recently I've noticed its been idling particularly high sometimes intermittently, anything from the normal 900rpm to 16-1700rpm, quite often if i give the throttle a little blip it will settle back to normal. Is this anything to worry about?

I don't think it was doing this when I first purchased it.

Not sure if related but sometimes when idling I've heard a a noise coming from the engine like something is catching on something and the car seems to vibrate (more) with it. Someone mentioned this could be if the revs drop slightly whilst on idle? This doesn't happen all the time again is only intermittent.

Again is this anything to worry about do you think? If anyone could shed some light would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks In Advance

Chris

Mine idles around 800rpm which shakes the car a great deal, asked if the idle speed could be increased to 1000 which would be more comfortable but apparently not manually. A remap would be needed to change it. Don't understand why your idle should go to 1700, could be a fuel pump or injection issue but not sure, at lower idle speeds there are plenty of banging and bumping sounds which signify nothing it would seem, all just part of the allure.

When it does this, rather than blip the throttle try putting your foot under it and pulling the pedal back up, there have been a few cases of pedals not returning fully or having faulty potentiometers.
