I would urge you to get the battery replaced asap. I didn’t heed the same warnings you’ve got and it failed… when we were in Southern Ireland… we live in Surbiton!

Next time I get 12v low - charge to drive, I’ll bite the bullet

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

Quick tip: a random elm obd2 plug and the car scanner app is enough to do the coding for the battery

I think it's the same videao that @Ootohere shared here, isn't it?

Humm. It was only posted a couple of days ago so I assumed it was new. Hey ho, still a good watch though.

I don't doubt a minute about it, though not a native English! 😉

I think it is all the same car - there’s been a couple of posts.

Tbh I don’t get it - it’s purported as a swansong but it’s not for sale, just a one-off. So basically someone from Skoda took their car to a tuner and got 500bhp out of it. And so did a few guys on here. And so did a load more with other VAG EA888-engines cars.

That is it, you cracked it.

470 bhp out of it and every motoring magazine, many bloggers and vloggers covered it.

Much cheapness media coverage for Skoda UK on a discontinued model.

It's slow that! 😆

Actually when doing 70 mph it is doing 70 mph.

When you floor them from a standstill a you get up the traffic in front doing 60 mph it does that, and when you overtake quickly then there you are back at 60 or 70 or whatever.

At Santa Pod, Crail or where ever you might well get your arse handed to you by a Nissan Bluebird or the likes.

Rear brakes on 3mm and front in 4mm; discs with enough wear so took the opportunity to look at brakes. Was set on EBC Turbo grooved and Redstuff until I read through some stuff on here so Mtec Drilled/Grooved and ATE Ceramic pads on order. Mtec have a deal on at the mo so worked out well cost wise.

MTEC drilled and grooved fitted. A bit rumbly which I think is wearing the coating off the contact surface.

But…I’ve noticed the grooves are facing forward at the top on both sides. Not what I expected, but does it matter?

Pics in case my explanation is rubbish - excuse the filthy wheels!

Them discs are fitted backwards.

MTEC have instructions in the box with each disc and also on their website. Who fitted them?

This is how they should be

Got the car back from the body shop with freshly painted rear right door, quarterpanel, bumper and new alloy wheel. So the car is now prepared for winter with wintertires and a proper wash with a layer of wax.

Ffs.

Local VAG specialist; they’re usually very good so this is irritating that they’ve done this. I was reading a few posts on various posts that said the grooves didn’t matter comparable to the internal vanes but your post is definitive on that.
Have emailed them to get them switched asap - don’t want to do any more bedding-in of pads to discs like that and need to avoid any dual carriageway stuff too.

The MTEC discs take about 100 miles to wear the coating off the discs themselves, during this time they are very noisy but after this they will be quiet.

mine are only very noisy when very hard braking.

Id get them discs swapped asap though, not good of them

Thanks mate - I was putting that rumbling down to the coating, and you can see the coating already going. Have phoned them straight away and discussing first thing Monday to get them swapped over.
Frustrating as it means I can’t just get out and get some miles in getting them bedded in properly etc. I enjoy driving it and now it’s going these and the remap and I’ve just got to sit here staring at it 😬

Getting them swapped over today at first opportunity - however ironically, Mtec have come back and said they "don't really recommend" swapping them round. They've done all of about 10 miles slow urban driving. Sounds like they're covering their backs in case anything goes wrong and they want it in writing that they "advised the customer not to swap them around". Hardly definitive language though. Either that or they're effectively saying that the mounting position doesn't matter...can't have it both ways though.

If it were a few hundred miles or something then I'd be less inclined to change them round but on this usage, I can't see there being any impact to changing them.

Finally managed to get the areaview calibrated!

Now to just find the correct dataset to remove the black box from around the car.

Sadly I can only find Tiguan and Passat datasets.

Would help if someone had a VIN of a superb with factory fitted areaview.

Wing mirrors wrong colour on the screen, absolute slacker 😭

Where are the cameras for the aerial view? I thought it was rear only on superbs

Constant VAG drone that AS managed to source/build himself.

Looks ace - as if the project thread wasn't impressive enough...

Pre facelift have only rear cameras as an option

post facelift has rear camera or areaview as an option.

the cameras are in the rear usual place, under both wing mirrors and in the front grill.

officially for the front it’s meant to be in the trim covering the radar but to fit this id have to replace the front end with the FL superb headlights, bumper, grill, radar and didn’t want to.

so made my own OEM look bracket and fitted it that way instead.

This thread has a lot more detail for you:

Aperture, I think my car has this fitted, I can see the car from above and select each camera for detailed view - I am at my parents' and had to use the right side to see some junk my Dad left on the side of the garage, for example ...

However I have no idea about how to extract the dataset for you. Tomorrow I need to use the car and I have the VCDS with me.

PM with your detail need or send me your phone and we can chat through other means faster than this, come to be necessary. Will be happy to help ☺️

Aperture, how did it go with the areaview setup?
