Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

Summer wheels fully cleaned (tar removed too) front and back.

Tyres dressed. 24h drying pending (at least)...

They'll be put in their protective covers before being stored on saturday I guess.

Wow compliments that is a dream job ... I just piled them up aside and hope to find time to do this before the are needed again 😜

Gave my car a gentle wash, went to Cornwall recently then the storm hit, despite being tucked out of the way and about a mile away from the beach my car got covered in sand

Whole car was like that apart from A pillar which must have flown off on the way home but no where else

Did you use Carpro Retyre to clean the tyres before dressing? Best tyre cleaner in the business 👌🏻

No, I only used a karcher, a nylon brush, some liquid soap and a bit of elbow oil... ;)

I'll take a pic tomorrow before putting them in their storage bags.

Nice. Exactly the same as my Trinity wheels which I had powder coated black to match the car paintwork. I don't have any winter wheels so mine get cleaned on the car.

I really must get my wheels powder coated!

POI (danger zones) updated on my Columbus.

Unsuccessfully tried to update Columbus map: downloaded it from Skoda portal. Also surprised to get a 15Gb file only whereas former version was around twice bigger.

Unzipped it on a SD card but it failled.

I´ll wait for another update…. Not a big deal, since I mainly use Waze as a GPS.

1. try download archive from VW server

2. cleanup were made in previous release

3. unpack firstly to local drive and then copy content to SD/USB

This is probably what I did wrong. I tried to unzip it directly on the SD card…

I´ll try again. 😉

Same bug when unzipping on the HDD of my laptop 🙄. I´m gonna try to download the .zip file from the VW portal.

´New’ map (files dated from April ´24 🤔) downloaded and unrarred (.7z file) on my laptop successfully. Now, still ~45mn to find to upload the new map on my Columbus. Maybe less since the bunch of files is now half smaller… 🤞😉

Changed the wing mirror covers on my MY17 Superb to the facelift version, which has the BSD light on the cover.

Got it from AliExpress.

Good fit.

Wasn't plug n play.

Happy with the end result.

More details about the installation here.

Very nicely done!

Why did you do it out of interest, purely styling? Or did you not want to buy new mirror glass at £500 per side!

Update on me: Sorry that ive almost fallen off the face of the earth recently all! Currently in the process of buying a house so all attention has been diverted to that ❤️ The Skoda is still going strong except for a leaky water pump which I will update on as it is replaced.

Had wondered recently - good to know still going strong and fingers crossed for the house purchase. @JR RS is going to give you a run for your money on the modification front

Well I gave my 280 sport line estate a maintenance wash and parked it In the garage, where it will stay for the next year at least. Serviced a week ago and will be run every other week. I was given the opportunity to run an Ineos grenadier for a bit so that's my wagon now. Plan to replace the exhaust valve springs, again, and de-tar etc over time. Love the superb and will keep it as long as I can.

Thanks.

Didn't do it for styling - I mainly did it because I found the little tiny indicator on the wing mirror a bit small, and easy to miss.  I wanted something more obvious - hence the fitting the version with the indicator on the wing mirror cover.

I'm definitely not changing the mirror glass as my intention was to have both BSD indicators.

The cost of a replacement wing mirror is nuts.  No point spending money unnecessarily for no benefit.

Having both indicators is good because the outside wing mirror one shows other drivers that they're in my blind spot.

Then the additional indicator inside the wing mirror cover is so that I can see clearly.

Win-win for both parties 🙂

I would urge you to get the battery replaced asap. I didn’t heed the same warnings you’ve got and it failed… when we were in Southern Ireland… we live in Surbiton!

I replied saying I’ll change it next time I get 12v, I lied a little as it’s done it a few times since.

Happened today so I’ve ordered a 10vin vcds (can finally use that to get tmc working again too woohoo)

Also new Varta AGM A7 battery ordered

So my battery has lasted longer than I thought and if I used my car properly could have lasted longer (only use it once a week for around 8 miles)

Car was registered in April 2016 so battery probably at least from late 2015/early 2016, so almost 9 years old not too bad

I know is nothing important, but I hitched a ride in my woman's order for temu for some junk and I added the battery box cover ... for like 5 euro 😜

Fitted and is tight enough.

I got also the cap/funnel for the washer, but looks very rubberish and not hard plastic as in the photos. Nevertheless will try it and see if it works.

I wish I had time and availability for more relevant and nicer upgrades, but for now the Superb will have to soldier on as it is, until I get rid of other things in my garage/and in my life and free up availability 😔

Bought 2 bottles of Redex diesel additive from Lidl for £4.99. Added first one this morning with a tankful of fuel. Lets see what happens....if anything.

Lots of smoke out the back for a bit I suspect. Or is that not a thing anymore with all the cats & EGR's etc?

Same thing as Miller's? I used to run my Mk1 Fabia vRS on that and, to be honest, cold starting was a bit ropey whenever I ran out.
