Set of Crossclimate 3's went on today. That'll make my IV a tank for the winter months, so fannying on with snow and ice like everyone else.

Had them on my old Exeo, and I could literally drive around 4x4's that had got stuck.

Did you get the sport version?

I'd never even heard of them till now. Just had a quick read and I think I'd have still gone with the standard ones.

I'm a gentle cruiser these days :)

I had to change the battery on my car during the annual service since my battery was completely dead in the morning before visiting the dealer. The OEM battery didn't last 3 years, but I don't complain because it was changed under warranty and the car was coded properly by the dealer(without me telling them explicitly).
This is our 3rd Skoda in the family with battery being replaced under warranty, so I got used to it.

It's a common problem with many makes of car. I'm on my 3rd battery for my 2016 Superb & 2nd battery for our 2022 Hyundai Kona EV. OEM batteries are generally cheap rubbish designed to just get through the 3 year warranty. Hyundai/Kia EV's have had 12v battery issues for a while.

Interestingly, although our Hyundai Kona car has a 5 year warranty but the 12v battery has only 3 years warranty (8 years on the traction battery). I think Hyundai knew they had installed a !"$£ battery so reduced the 12v battery warranty accordingly. It now has a 5 year warranty Halfords Yuasa battery. Fitted it myself & no coding required.

I had my battery done just over the 30 days from owning the car, I explained the situation and saw that a Banner battery had been fitted previously which had then failed, called the break down which was the AA and they fitted the Yuasa battery with Skoda sales taking payment over the phone to the AA chap on my drive who then coded it etc, I have the warranty and receipt also.

I think after the issues with my MIB upgrade and various recharges etc my battery is also on the way out. MOT friday. If all goes well with that I will treat her to a new battery!

The first sign of a weak battery is that the Stop-Start (if turned on) stops working, even after a long run.

I have mine permanently off with a module. But i randomly get ACC or maneouver braking not available when first starting, and sometimes a sluggish start. Its either a parasitic drain or a bad battery, and from what I can see battery is at least 5+ years old. I cant see a date on it anywhere

Yeap, this is how I noticed that my battery is about to die soon. I usually turn the S/S system off with the button, just after starting the car, and then turn it back on only on longer traffic lights or on country boarder control where the car has to be stationary for longer. When I turned the system on few weeks ago, there was no ongoing DPF regeneration but the S/S didn’t activate.

@petertr That fuel you have in your tank is likely Summer Formulation Petrol. More Hydroscopic than what is getting delivered in the next few weeks in Scotland and the North of England within the next couple of weeks and further south eventually and until next March. Often not an issue, as there are vehicles in Dealerships that might even have fuel in from Summer 2025. But forewarned is forearmed. EDIT. My stupidity. I mis-read. Thought you had a PHEV and a tank of fuel. Not that the CrossClimates are good, giving Tank Like mobility. Small Point, really the CrossClimate 3,s are OK, not that great though in Snow. But size / Tread depth dependent. I have had 3 Previous Cross Climate Versions on vehicles. The SUV ones were worst.

Quick lunchtime job to swap out another failed speaker. Getting quite quick at removing and replacing door cards now! Rear door this time so just swapped with more up to date OEM version. The 3v0035411A have a problem whereby the plastic becomes brittle and eventually the magnet falls off. Third out of 4 speakers to have done it. Replaced with 3v0035411J. I have another two arriving later this week and the other rear door will be preventatively changed out for the J version and one spare for the shed. For info the pop rivets required are 4.8mm x 14mm. It's doing well if 5+ years old.

After the problems we had with my wife's EV 12v battery (2 x AA call outs for no start events) I fitted this battery monitoring device so I could keep an eye on the battery health. Of course with a new battery everything is fine but it's a peace of mind type thing for when battery get older.

My original battery went suddenly after 5 years - I nudged the car forwards to get into the boot then it wouldn't start again. I put that primarily down to my work commute being only 5 miles.

I now tend to put the battery on charge when I'm not going to use it for a few days over the winter months to try and keep it in shape.

Oddly I find that S/S isn't a good indicator of anything on my car - I can do a long run with the heater and A/C off and the windows open and it just keeps the engine running with the message about high power drain. Another time I can pop out with the heater and A/C on and it'll start operating after a few minutes. 99% of the time I turn it off on startup though.

Thanks. I’ve ordered one. Will be good to see if there is a drain or if the battery is indeed on the way out.
