4 of the teams who are under-achieving this year are pushing for a return to 2018 tyres after the summer break - meeting with FIA and Pirelli this week.

Ferrari, RBR, Haas and STR need to convince 3 more teams to vote their way.

Just how will this improve their lot?

Mercedes won 8 of the last 11 races in 2018 (all on the thicker tyre which the others want brought back)

Brit F1 hopeful dumped from Red Bull Junior programme.

Macau GP Winner Dan Ticktum has been dumped by Red Bull after a poor winter series and a disastrous start to his Super Formula season in Japan.

6 months ago he was looking like the next new driver at STR and tested twice for RBR as well, but his shocking sequence of results since has seen him exit on the end of Dr Marko's boot.

Justice at last IMO... he should have been banned for life after his villainous behaviour on track at Silverstone in 2015:

More reliability drama at Mercedes, Bottas' phase 2 engine had an oil leak before FP1 so they had to slot his old motor back in.

Sadly, the "Speshul Sneauflaixs" have managed to persuade the courts that life bans from a sport contravene the banee's human rights.

Tyre meeting teams voted 5-5. Clear divide. Ferrari & Honda teams vs Mercedes & Renault. Although it looks like Alfa were pressured into voting with Ferrari since boss Fred Vasseur was not in favour of change earlier in the week.

P2 Crashfest - Verstappen hit barrier backwards, Bottas wrecked front on another barrier, Vettel has massive spin but stops before hitting wall.

Looks like we'll have a race tomorrow. Ferrari and RBR ahead on the grid, and on different tyre strategies. Not likely that Mercedes will be able to cover that off I reckon. My money's on Max.

Hamilton has taken the three place grid penalty on the chin and admitted he was in the wrong. Still think he will be on the podium this afternoon.

Verstappen keeps the victory after the stewards decide no penalty.  Red Bull on their home track were never going to get a penalty, although it does look like Max opens the steering mid corner to assist the Ferrari off of the track.

Wow! Just Wow! What a fantastic race after the snooze fest that was France.

The last 20 laps were exciting , yes.

The previous 50?  Nothing really happened so Channel 4 kept fast forwarding (and leaving out 10 to 15 lap chunks) in the highlight show.

It made better viewing than watching it live I suppose.

Ferrari are such a bunch of crybabies! LeClerc was beaten fair and square and he then banged wheels on the exit to try for the penalty. F1 equivalent of diving in the penalty box.

So how does Vercrashen opening the steering to assist Charles off the track become Charles wheel-banging?

Max was ahead at the apex. He had the corner and could choose his line. If there was gravel or grass outside leClerc would have backed off, but he chose to fight because the runoff was available, as was the stewards room later. Once again Ferrari should make their car faster instead of wasting energy on protests and other shizzle. Do we have to wait for the stewards every time someone tries to overtake a Ferrari?

Good news that McLaren have taken up their options to resign both current drivers for the 2020 season. FIA also announced next season will start in Melbourne, Australia as usual on Sunday 15th March 2020, Fi's 70th Anniversary season.

Slightly misleading headline...Sainz is on a long term deal anyway. Norris was on "probation" if you like, pending results - which he certainly has got.

Rich Energy claims to have terminated it's sponsor deal with Haas F1. What possessed Haas to enter the deal with those fantasists in the first place is beyond me but I guess Haas will have to sue for any money owed.

Comment from a novel, Alistair McLean's "The Way to Dusty Death" IIRC, "A team which did that (sued a sponsor for money owed) wouldn't find it easy to get a replacement".

Wow. Its 45 years since I read that book.

Similar timescale; look, authors write new books I want faster than I can read same.
