Slow factory orders

Featured Replies

We ordered our Sportline tdi in the beginning of May 2019 and it was built 2/12 2019 and we got it at the 23/12 2019.

1/1 2020 they raised the tax for combustion cars here in Sweden, so I had to hurry on the Skoda dealer a lot.

Almost double the tax the first 3 years of owning the car after 1/1 2020 than a car registered in 2019.

Clearly not a Skoda ... but the end of my waiting for a new car journey is over!

  • So - Finally my L&K 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG ordered 22 July has a build date confirmed.... dealer estimates early to mid December Handover.... 6 weeks later than planned..

  • Finally, picked mine up today. I have to say lads that it's well worth the wait, drives like a dream. At the moment there are no squeaks or rattles or grinding noises and everything works. The de

Maybe that, but some cars got 800-900% raise of the tax.

Well, that didn’t go according to plan.

I should be the proud owner of this today.

However...

It wasn’t what I actually ordered!

I had specified adaptive cruise control and heated windscreen as absolute must haves.

They were on the order, but apparently the admin person missed them off.

Seriously hacked off is an understatement. 🤬🤬🤬

I left this one at the dealer and will not be having it, ever, so if you fancy a brand new Kodiaq, with 2 holes in the dash where they’ve fitted to hand control switches, be my guest.

I will now have to wait another 13 weeks minimum to get the car I ordered, unless the dealer can find one in the country, which isn’t likely!!

Did I say I was seriously hacked off? 🤬🤬🤬

Whose the dealer? I should be getting mine delivered on Saturday morning and I've been assured it's got everything on that I asked for. You can bet I'll be checking!

@CFB  - Sorry to hear that... right kick in the ba##s..

But you did the right thing leaving it with them.

Both options can be retrofitted... but not easily...

that is shocking - feel for you.
I’d be pushing for some mega compensation.
Get the accessories brochure out.

I didn’t think ACC could be retrofitted?

Yes - it can now

don’t want to go down that route.
besides, they would have to retro fit the heated screen too.

what do you think my chances of getting the virtual cockpit for nothing?

slim to none would be my guess.

Yes - probably slim to none... but you have nothing to loose in asking...

Was the dealer at least apologetic over this... or oh well??

They now have a Prereg car - with holes - so just lost 5K I guess anyway..

I would definitely try and push for this if you want the virtual cockpit. And then agree to meet in the middle and split the cost with them if they say no. what would that be? Around 250 each?

Seems a reasonable request given the monumental blunder that has been made. Plus the time you’ve already waited and have to wait again.

Please keep us updated

CFB, I feel your pain!!! Much the same thing happened to a colleague a year or so ago - arrives at dealer, looks at his brand new car, "All OK sir?". "Er, no, this is a manual and I ordered an automatic - and before you say anything else, of course I ordered an auto, because I have an auto-only license." Long story about what happened next, but it wasn't pretty.

If it's any consolation (which it probably isn't) this will make me examine my order form - again. So thank you for that. Although our local VW dealership told me that, yes, here's the order form, but what is actually submitted to VW isn't the 'order form' the customer is given, someone sits at their PC and carefully (or not) translates the order form into the actual 'please build this'.

I truly hope this turns out OK and that any financial or other compensation is enough to allay this awful error. You should be allowed to drive the car a very small distance backwards and forwards - over the person that couldn't be bothered to check the order.....

I assume you're driving that free of extra charge while they get you your actual car? I would not be asking for anything less.

Yep me too, I very much hope they've still let you drive the incorrectly specced Kodiaq whilst the replacement arrives?

If not then at the very least they've put you in an equivalent sized courtesy or hire car.

If they've done neither of the above then a significant refund / goodwill gesture on arrival of the new car is the least they should be doing.

Have you spoken to Skoda UK customer services? They can often step in and support the dealer in supporting you.

We're not talking about a couple of days here to get you a new one, 13 weeks is more than three months, it is a significant screw-up and one they shouldn't simply be apologising for.

Thanks for your input guys. The only problem I might have in bargaining for compo is that it is a Motability car. I have left the Kodiaq with them and am still driving the Yeti.

If I had been paying for it totally myself I would probably be in a better position.

Anyhow, they said I have 3 options. Cancel the order, go for something else or go elsewhere.

Rock and hard place there then.

I really want the Kodiaq as it meets all my needs. From research before ordering, I couldn’t find anything close to the spec for the same money.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’ll wait the 3 months but push for the VC. If they say no but offer X amount, I’ll go through the list and see what extras I can get for that. As I will only have it for 3 years, I’m not very keen on throwing more money at it.

I’ll be discussing with the sales manager tomorrow, so I’ll update then.

I benefited from a similar error a number of years ago with my Octavia L&K.

The customer had ordered an estate however when it arrived it was the hatchback (not 100% sure if dealer or Skoda screwup). An agreement was reached between the dealer and customer as to using the hatch while a new build was rushed through and they took delivery 6 weeks later of the estate.

Dealer was desperate to get rid of the hatch so ended up selling it below cost to get it out of their stock ASAP.

I would certainly apply some pressure both to dealer and Skoda as orders can be rushed through a damn sight quicker that the normal period if the will is there.

Was it Marshall's at Letchworth or Harlow??

If it helps, when they screwed up my order (Skoda removed the Technology Pack option we’d paid for and dealer didn’t notice until I pointed out it was missing at delivery), we managed to wangle about £80-£90 goodwill payment from them.

You’ve been screwed over a lot more, so you’d like to think that the dealer/Skoda would stump up more to cover VC, but I guess it depends how badly they want to keep you business / avoid bad publicity.

not them either.  I’m not going to name them, but will say it is a bucks dealer.
I spoke to them today and have decided to still go ahead with the order. I’m going to speak to the general manager later re compo and speeding up the build

Cars arrived today. And I'm happy to say as ordered! Photo to follow when it stops raining!

@CFB

What are Motability Operations saying?

Is your Yeti from Motability and at end of Contract but you just get to keep it another 3 months or whatever.

They issue a Extended Insurance Policy.

Hand back your Yeti and get your 'Good Condition' £600 cheque issued.

Motability Operations is buying the car & you are leasing it. You could not collect it as it was not what Motability were agreeing to buy.

Skoda UK can get you a courtesy car or the Dealership that messed up can until your car arrives.

The Dealership had to have priced what you were to pay for the Options that you were to pay for as well as the Advance payment.

*The car that is there now is First Registered, and Skoda UK Imported it, with the Hand Controls on it that could have been the Courtesy Car,

if you were to need to give up your current car.*

I can not see where you think there can be compensation coming to you.

The Car you ordered was approved by Motability Operations & and you got the finance papers & the PIN to authorise the payment.

The 'Reference Number' for the Motability order was for that Quarters car with a DSG and the Advance Payment.

The Dealership / Employee who should be the Trained Motability Specialist really messed up.

eg.  Car Spec on Agreement that was approved.

The very least they can do is offer you an "equivalent" courtesy car until the replacement arrives.

Their mistake, not yours.

I did ask the question

They’ve cancelled that order completely so I can’t have that car till the new one arrives, the Yeti lease has been extended till it does.

Is it £600 now? My last bonus was only £200.

Not possible as far as I know, as the car has hand controls.

Having asked the question, I was told not possible as Motability have rejected the car.

I have emailed the general manager and am waiting a reply

if you were to need to give up your current car.*

Realistically I do.

I can not see where you think there can be compensation coming to you.

Because I’m the one who is paying for the options and for the inconvenience.

Apparently it was the admin who cocked up. The Salesman is the Motability specialist and he knows his stuff.

The spec on the lease papers is correct, as they, the same as I, were expecting to get the car I ordered.

BTW, sorry for the bold type, I cant

I handed my car back at end of contract 14th November.  All was correct, car collected, car went to auction and was sold.  I tried to get my certificate for VED exempt and found out supposedly I had a motability car.  Called motability, they said I still had the car.  They checked and said yes I had, I told them that they had sold it 4 weeks ago.  They said dealers fault, I said bog off his pictures were on the auction site.  Next day a got an insurance certificate to June for the car returned to extend my use of it.   Finally this week they accept they got the car. Sold it, and still blame the dealership salesperson.  No money reinstated, but I did get the £600 CHEQUE, because of the cars good condition at hand back.    They can extend lease no problem.   And SKODA can also suck up errors from franchised dealers.  My dealer never messed up though.   In the past Arnold Clark have, taking 16 weeks to deliver a car they never ordered and that production of had stopped.
