Slow factory orders

Featured Replies

Gee - shock horror - while reading this thread a few minutes ago my dealer man called me to say my new car has landed in the UK already and would I like it registered on the 31st March to beat the new extortionate road tax increase.

Yes please. Next question.

The official expiry date for my current car contract is 6 April, so we discussed the transfer of my private plate in the next few weeks.

Will my sleep be disturbed over the next 8 weeks? 😂

Clearly not a Skoda ... but the end of my waiting for a new car journey is over!

  • So - Finally my L&K 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG ordered 22 July has a build date confirmed.... dealer estimates early to mid December Handover.... 6 weeks later than planned..

  • Finally, picked mine up today. I have to say lads that it's well worth the wait, drives like a dream. At the moment there are no squeaks or rattles or grinding noises and everything works. The de

Is it not the WLTP  /RDE  emissions from the 1st of January 2020 or since when a car comes into the country that matters?

In the uk the rules are from the 1st of april 2020 new cars registered on or after that date will be taxed according to WLTP emissions

Dealer Handover Experience - don’t make me laugh 😂

In 2017 my car was just parked in the yard. Here’s yer key. Oh, these buttons don’t work. Don’t worry, we’ll fix it later.

And last December, my wife’s new car wasn’t deemed fit to be handed over in The Bay either - again just parked out in the yard where the teenage (well he looked like a teenager) Tech Guru showed me the ropes.

All as exciting as buying cornflakes at Tesco (other breakfast cereals and supermarkets are available)

Sounds like Scottish dealers need to be sent on a training course for how to do good Customer Service. Alternatively don't give that dealer anymore business including servicing.

My dealer told me that it will not affect me that price going from over 500 to over 1200. I've ordered Kodiaq L&K 2.0 tsi at beginning of January. Estimated delivery 15 April. Dealer will take that increase of the tax on himself.

My vRS waiting to be shipped at German port. Hoping to get it early March to get a 20 plate and before April 1st.

My original build date was week 12 but now its being built next week :)

A week ago we were told our car was on the ship. However that ship hasn't moved for a week!

Anyone else got a car on a ship at Emden which isn't moving?

Apparently I should have it mid March / end of march so will hopefully beat the tax rise.

I don't think the maritime conditions are too favourable with the wind the way it has been the last few days and likely will be again this weekend

Is there a way to track orders online?

How did you find out it was on a ship and which ship it was?

Mine was built by end of wk 5, at port a couple of days later..

VAG only use a small number of dedicated car transporters that operate out of Emden.

Once Skoda UK customer services tell you via their Live Chat feature that your car is at the port of exit awaiting a ferry and which UK port it will arrive at you can check here for their movements...

The two commonly used ships are called Schelde Highway and Weser Highway.

Yeah I presumed it would be the weather. Doesn’t stop us being impatient though 😁

Thanks Silver ... interesting site. Just need to find out which boat my Kodi is on.

Thanks for sharing - Interesting site and useful to track logistic movements.

As a matter of interest what tracking detail, or gateways, would you ideally want to see post order? E.g.

Build scheduled for wk xx

car in build

car build complete

car at port of departure ready for loading

car on route to port

car at port of arrival

car on route to dealer

car at dealer
PDI completed

car ready

Do I recall correctly that VW make this sort of information available in the past to customers that have an order in progress?

Do other car companies offer something similar?

Seems a pity that interested customers have to chase car companies or dealers for updates.

My car is currently at the port of exit in Emden, Germany.

This is what chat had to say about when my car will be on a boat

We would have normally expected your order to be put on a ship this week, however due to the poor weather ships have not been sailing, so there is a delay with shipping. As there is another storm expected starting this weekend we are not sure when the ships will start moving again, so I recommend coming back through to us on Live chat in a week or so so we can keep you updated on your order's progress.

jeez when you look at Emden port on google maps satellite view, thats a **** ton of cars

Thames Highway, now that takes me back to this time 2018. Impatiently waiting for my Kodiaq. Watching every ship coming and going into Emden on marinetraffic.com. Bugging the life out of Live chat. Car spent 12 days at Emden, then arrived at Sheerness the exact same time as the beast from the east. 13 days later it was at the dealers. Two years on its still worth every minute of the wait.  Enjoy your Bears when you get them😀

When I ordered my A6 3 years ago there was a whole app that I could use to track it through every stage you mention above.

I find it strange that 3 years later Skoda still don't have a rudimentary version.

Still ... having said that ... their Live Chat is second to non and are always helpful in providing updates that are arguably more insightful ... like what ship your car is on, etc.

So maybe they've chosen to invest in the person2perso exchange rather than app. But it can't be too hard to piggyback on what else the VAG have and provide a Skoda order tracking app.

But then again, this maybe one of the cost cutting, brand differentiation features that has been done by design.

I just had the same response. Mine has been at port for 10 days and not been allocated a ship next. Can understand how the weather is impacting shipping though. Made our local canal look like the North Sea last weekend so good knows what it actually looks like in the real north sea!!!

Just so I get my head round it... at what stage can you start bugging live chat for details of your new car?

Would they be able to give updates leading up to the build date, for example?

I've been bugging chat since week 2 post order as my dealer said in the normal run of things factory acceptance takes 2-4 weeks, and then you are allocated a build slot which is +1 to +5 weeks from that. At that point though the build slot is temporary and can still move but I guess the close to +1 you get the more likely it will firm up.

From week of build it I'm told it take 4-5 weeks to get it to you assuming no logistic issues.

I ordered on 20th January, and still have no order acceptance, so at this point I think my dealer is going to fail in it's unofficial expectation of having it with me end of March.....be lucky to be end of April at this point.

I want the car and I have until October on my current PCP so there is some wiggle room thankfully.
