Thanks for the pic, it's a sight for sore eyes. As I said, I down-loaded from site above (ECE 2020 26Gb
Files inside:    2019.10.18
Version:    V03.959.803.?? 0184 ECE 2020
Publicized:    2019.11.08 (VW Portal)
http://vw-mapscdn.tdd.adacorcdn.com/P184_N60S5MIBH3_EU.7z) ...It took the normal 2 hours or so , then it was probably the 7.zip extraction tool that may / could have been the problem.

I used the 8 Zip lite, possibly wrong choice?

I will down load again this evening and reformat my sd to Fat32 and see what happens again.

Thanks again for showing the updated software,

Regards,

Roy

MartiniB, to say thanks again and to let you know ... I did the 2 hr download, plus downloaded the 7z1900-x64.exe  for extracting files - which seems to have done the trick.

Re-formatted (Sandisk Ultra Class 10/SDHC  sd-card) to NTFS . Then Extracting the files (3) from down load, dragged and dropped onto SD Card , where it is now doing the long haul of transferring from pc folder onto sd-card.

Hope to send you a likewise pic of update on this Columbus system.

Roy

Hi, I tried updating the map using the P85_N60S5MIBH3_ROW.7z file but it failed. I have a 2015 Octavia vRS with MIB1 Columbus (in Australia).

System info shows

Device part number: 5E0035045D

Hardware: H44

Software: 0371

Navigation Database: V03959801EN0039 ROW 2015

I downloaded the P85_N60S5MIBH3_ROW.7z file, extracted and copied the 2 folders and metainfo2.txt file to both SD Card and USB thumb drive. Tried each twice, once reformatted as exFAT and then as NTFS filesystem.

Update Software fails after some time searching in all 4 cases: SD Card exFAT/NTFS, USB thumb drive exFAT/NTFS.  There are no other files present at the top level folder. Error message is 1443634712_ErrorNoDataAvailable.thumb.jpg.99a0ed7a5081e9b99aca7b8927802a93.jpg

Is this the right file and will this map update work for Columbus MIB1 units in Australia? Has anyone seen this error before  and have thoughts on the cause/fix?

Many thanks.

Earlier post above by Braai reported success using NTFS.  All the files in the MIB1 folder are < 1 GB so FAT32 file size limit of 4GB wouldn't be an issue.

I just came across another thread with Dave77 reporting alternate instructions to update via SD card which I'll check out (assuming they apply to MIB1 Columbus too)  https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/452217-columbus-on-my17-can-not-find-update-files/?tab=comments#comment-5081591

I'll try FAT32 and the alternate instructions too.

I had lot's of problem to make the ECE_2020 update from SD. Normal windows 10 format to 32-bit didn't work for me. So: My way to make it updated was following:
Of course download the 25GB file and kept it as ZIP.
Put my SD in reader and choose the disk in Windows 10
Mark the SD disk driver (in my case E:)
With right mouse bottom choosed Format.
--> Format to exFat
--> 2048 byte
Formated ...
Then Unzip the ECE_2020 directly to SD (in my case E:)
Went to car ... Start the engine. Amundsen booted. When the navigator was up and running. I did push the SD in slot (Disk 1).
System showed SD card inserted.
Went to Meny ... scrolling down to systeminfo
Choosed System upgrade. After 45-60 seconds it started to upload the info.
This worked for me ...

I don't usually get to needing to ask for help BUT

Downloaded the Skoda 2020 file and unzipped it to a 32GB SD. Top level has only MIB1, MIB2 folders and single file.

Whichever guidance I follow, I don't seem to be able to get an update menu.

SD card isn't reporting errors when inserted - in fact I get the 'Reading Data' message and then … nothing, i.e. back to whatever the unit was doing before. No evidence of any upgrade/update under the System, Map or Navigation setup menus.

HW version H27, SW version 6276, current maps 8117.

Any ideas, please?

You have the older RNS510 style Columbus so the downloadable maps from Skoda won't work I'm afraid.

Map updates are only on DVD which are pretty expensive from offical sources such as dealers. There are plenty of cloned or pirated versions around but they obviously carry more risk....

Thanks langers2k !

I saw the eBay DVDs and was tempted but it seemed worth the 12hr download to get 2020 maps directly from the Skoda site.

Pity... but at least I can stop banging my head against a brick wall now!

Appreciate your help

Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? 2018 Kodiaq.

Downloaded, extracted, copied to nice big, fast SD card. filesystem exFAT

Ignition on, system on - pop the card in and it flashes past reading SD card to say update files are there on the SD card.

Navigation, settings, version info and at the bottom of the screen it offers update from SD or update from network.

I select SD and it says it is looking for  files, and doesn't seen to find them, even if left for a while.

Same behaviour in SD1 and SD2 slots.

I do note the date, and that we are only around a month away from the next due update, but am a little split - it's only a target, but I want to have the process right for the next one too.

Thanks,

Paul.

Try FAT32 format. The unit runs QNX so won't recognise fancy formats.

I know some people say exFat is fine, certainly on the standard unit it won't read cards too well other than FAT32. I also use Fat32 on the high. If your cards bigger than 32GB you might have to partition it for FAT32....

I've seen people fall into this trap before by out smarting the unit on the format offered.
