It's both true, and dangerous also.

Officially if you have 01xx firmware, 02xx, 03xx or 04xx then you should stick in that series.

 

You can update to new versions, but can also brick unit.  Personally I don't recommend it.  You cannot just load 0480 easily either, there's a process to it.  Someone might explain it, but I won't.

The question is what do you mean by MIB2 and MIB2.5. My definition of MIB2.5 - Columbus 5650350xx units, with 9.2" display (touch buttons, no knobs). Yours in MIB2 Amundsen so you will need to chnage both glove box and display units.

I see. Thanks. I guess I understand now. I have an Amundsen, so it would have to be changed to a Columbus and then possibly an update... I currently have a unit in my car: 5Q0035864C

@YENDYS - What are you actually trying to do or enable.

 

For a reference, plenty of folk call the Amundsen fitted from around MY18 with software 04xx a MIB2.5.

Rear camera and parking sensors, the background around the sensors is no longer dark and is clear.  When the seat heating is turned on with the button, the level of steering wheel heating can be changed on the screen, this was not possible before.  Colorful menu icons.  Loading picture albums and their previews works better... I guess.  I don't have the experience right now, as I don't have the 2.5 in the car so there are certainly other things that are not immediately visible.

Hi everyone! I have the issue that Android Auto occasionally only functions after a Soft-reboot of the HeadUnit (Pressing the Power Button till the Skoda Logo appears). I have tried several cables, but nothing seems to work.
Might this be fixed by a software update?
Could someone please provide me the most recent version?

@Scaleo You have PM for 0480 version, you will have to try and see if it works for you.

Picked up a 2019 Octavia Estate at the weekend. From a brief read, it looks like I can update to 480 (not sure what extra that gives me?).

You have a PM, and it's bug fixes... and VAG do not provide a changelog of those either.
