Doesn't matter whether you have an MIB2 or MIB2.5 system - the process in the article still applies.  You can ignore the part for Skoda Connect.

I haven't checked my 2015 head unit, but I have no issues with it. Does the upgrade (if there is one) bring any extra features or is it just to fix software bugs?

Just had the update done by my Skoda dealer to my Amunsden 2 head unit to version 0478 to fix a problem with smart link+, except it didn’t fix the issue so has gone back to Skoda to find out why. In the meantime all my DAB and FM station icons have disappeared. The only way I can get them back is add them manually from my SD card. Any ideas how to auto get the icons afor the stations. Have rescanned and updated the station list but made no difference the icons are still missing.

Have added them manually from SD card, did a scan and refreshed the station list, but no icons appeared.

New menu (as in MY18 units) - only by hacking the unit

CarPlay - yes, as a part of SmartLink, you should either contact your local Skoda dealer for activation or unit must be hacked

Offroad info - yes, just activate adaptation channels ENG122227-ENG117566 and ENG122227-ENG117568

Whoah, can pre-18 have that off-road info if we enable those channels? Or is it only post 18?

And what is involved in "hacking" Smartlink? Is that a DIY job or do you have to send the unit off? In which case, I may as well pay Skoda (although it hurts that I should have to pay to enable a basic function that is free now)

Yes,  pre-18 navigation units (does not apply to units without navigation) have that off-road info if you enable those channels.
