thanks! i just got the car and ordered a fast 64gb sd card for the map update already. i will have a look at 0478, is it on the mega share? what folder?

You have an Amundsen so you'll need an official Skoda SD card for the maps.

 

You can use any SD card for the firmware update though

Yes, generally, the SD Cards for the Maps come in 16G or 32G.  These needs to be Skoda/VW Discovery media cards.  They are about a £30 for a 32G SD card (will allow the full ECE A1 maps to be installed).

So my unit is a Admundsen 1?  The car is a Fabia III from 2018. 

When i check the skoda update website and i enter my VIN, i can download the maps. and they guide me to ECE A1 filename: STD2_1410_EU_A1_202022.zip

This file seems to be for the MIB2, correct?
If they give me the map download... how am i suppost to update it? write it over the origional card?

Your picture shows a 5Q0 035 874 C, this is a MIB2/MIB2.5 Amundsen

 

You can get later maps from VW, it a Discover Media as fitted to a Golf from 2017. Current AS and EU1 map links below:

Yes.

Amundsen it is!

I wrote an article a while back on how to do the firmware update on a Amunsden system. Ill see if I can find it.

Yes. Two ways to do this.1st- new FL  infotainment unit or 2nd -hack old unit with new firmware.
