I'm afraid I've joined the growing list of owners rejecting vehicles plagued with the technological problems. (It would be interesting to know how many have been rejected over recent months.......)

Would you like a copy of mine ? 😉

I got mine on Tuesday. The thing is it didn't say anything different. This rather wound me up and I immediately fired off a winging response. I've had the car 10 months and they have't found a fix. I am lucky in that my issues are only with the KPH/MPH issue and the SatNav being in km. I also paid for High Beam Assist which doesn't work. My response was copied to the Dealership Sales Manager and After Sales Adviser. I have had no response!

I also replied tommine last week as well and have yet to get a reply. Starting to get fed up. Wasting money in tax and insurance as well.

Interestingly, I just received my renewed courtesy rental agreement but this time, it is not for a full month again, so they must be confident that the fix will be released in the 2.5 weeks.

I havent heard from Skoda about my courtesy car since they gave it to me months ago.... Also, haven't heard from Kate Laws in 2 weeks now. Zero updates. Zero progress. **** poor.

I emailed her and never got a reply either. Again, **** poor. For someone who is meant to be high up in customer relations, this says a lot about the company right now.

Slight change of message this week:

"Following on from my last contact with you, the resolution is currently under testing"..."I will once again update you further in 2 weeks."

Hmmm...

You might be interested in this video from a Golf 8 GTI user. He had MPH/KPH issues which were not fixed as yet by software upgrades.

I have included a screen shot from the video of a response he received from VW that confirms there is no fix yet.

No solution after 12months of complaints and its going to cost Skoda owners when word gets onto the street about these issues .Surely the ACC issue must be a serious safety issue and I wonder if its been reported to the DT? The fact is we have all paid for these fancy gadgets on our cars which we cannot use, don't trust or have turned off .Very shoddy from VW and Skoda ,I also hear there's the same issues with certain Seat models ....its a real ****fest

In addition the video shows that he had the same problem as many UK users in this forum (a LHD/RHD issue) with being unable to pass a slower vehicle even though he was in the passing lane - not undertaking.

Re: ŠKODA OCTAVIA- FV20 GRK

Dear Mr Clarke

Following on from my last contact with you, the resolution for the mph/km is currently under testing and we are waiting for communication back from the factory.  Please let me assure you that we are treating your concerns with the upmost importance and it is for that reason it is taking slightly longer for me to come back to you than I anticipated. I can confirm we are working to ensure our investigations are completed within a timely manner and I will once again update you further in 2 week.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Kind regards

Out of curiosity, is "upmost" a good thing?

It's better than "we don't give a **** " :)

Upmost vs. utmost

  •
  •

When you need an adjective meaning (1) of the highest or greatest degree or (2) most extreme, the word is utmost. When you need an adjective meaning situated at the top, highest, or most upward position, the word you’re looking for is upmost. The latter is an old, almost archaic word that now mostly appears where writers obviously mean utmost.

Either way the sentence makes no sense. Paraphrasing:  "This is really, really important to us so we're communicating poorly about it"

  • 2 weeks later...

So I got a call from my garage today that has my car. They say they have been instructed to fit a whole new console unit. Which they will be doing tomorrow and then they will be giving me my car back. Is this good news? Finally? What is a console unit lol. Is it the full computer system basically?

Edited by neonplanet40

Yes, I think it's the whole main computer. According to some other users, changing the actual hardware has fixed the issues they had with their car. I'm also starting to notice more and more users are reporting they will get a new replacement computer. So it could be Skoda has finally realized what needs to be done in order to fix these issues.

I think the replacememt unit is the old style one that has a different version  of software loaded.Might be wrong but I think its the on ly solution they van find .

I had thought they'd put the latest one in as that would be what's coming off the production line.

I understood they had halted manufacture of the Octavia First Edition due to these issues and they are assembling Golf8 but waiting for latest software before selling them.

You'd have thought they'd put in whatever unit is in the newest models of the octavias and known to be working?

So, the manager at the garage has just called because he had to pick up my second key (seems they have to be recorded after this update) and he said that they are only replacing the actual head display unit. Nothing else.

Recoded - Not recorded :D Oops.

Call me an idiot, but I don't see how only changing a display unit (rather than the hardware that runs said displays, software and computing) will solve this problem.... so call me skeptical at best.

It all depends where the hardware is that's driving the display. It might be an integrated unit (like an ipad type thingy)

Got generic email again this morning:

So, which one is it? They have a fix which they are installing today and hoping to hand back tomorrow (which the garage manager said yesterday)? OR, they still testing it and not working on it with no date in sight ( as per usual this past 6 months). Someone is providing incorrect information....
