Missed this - so you’re downloading the maps onto a USB but they’re not uploading to the car? It’s a lot of data so people do reports a few hours-worth of driving around for the maps to update.

How long have you given it?

Hey, I've been waiting literally for months with the USB stick connected in every journey, and the maps are not updating. I got a spare USB Type-C Stick and don't really use it so it's been connected to the car since Oct/Nov 2024 when I had my very first attempts to update the maps.

Hey, im trying to update from MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P27005P to MOI3_EU_SKMQB_R23802P + P26810P + P27800P (i want to update to version MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P32400P newest) but when i plug my USB in and start the update i get this error 20. any tips please? My USB is FAT32 with lowest alligation size.56bdc941-007d-4d7a-87d0-5ce7834c1e21 (1).jpeg

I just moved all 3 folders from the .zip file (R23802P + P26810P + P27800P) is that correct? Or i just delete the other 2 files and leave only P27800P?

Yes the folder you’ve downloaded is 3 different versions, 238, 268 and 278.

From 270 you can download 308 and then straight to 332 (324 is the latest on MIBhelper but there has since been 330 and 332).

There’s been a few posts recently - I’ll link to one which will have links to the downloadable files and the how-to.

Basically, you’re on the right track - extract the files to the root of the usb stick.

you don’t need to upgrade from 270 to 278 to 306. And if you did and tried to go from 306 to 324 it wouldn’t work. You need 308 to progress to the later ones.

Yes ignition on, engine off. Also wise to have a battery charger on just in case but if the battery is good then you can do it without. That’s up to you though.

I don’t know that the firmware will allow updating with the engine on but you can try.

The only reason you got the code that I can see is that you had several versions of firmware on the usbstick and the MIB didn’t know which to pick. Especially as there was an earlier version - maybe it looked for that and threw the code.

Simplest way to avoid any problems is to unpack 308 on the usbstick only. Run that update, then format the usbstick and put 332 on there only and run that update.

So if i have read this right my Skoda Scala with firmware 0178 needs to go to the dealer for updating or i risk data corruption and for sure losing navigation? no way to do this myself without odis?

@travs @vegarz Hey guys, I hope you can help me out.

For the past two weeks, I’ve been having issues with my infotainment system. I found out that it’s running software version 0156, which is pretty old. I’d like to update the firmware, preferably myself, since the dealer is charging €350 to do it.

However, I’ve read that updating from version 0156 can break the navigation system. I do have an OBD dongle, but I don’t have ODIS.

Could anyone possibly help me out?

Its something to do with losing the FEC (Feature Enables Codes) aka SWaP (Software as a product) when you move from very old version like v0156 - I think they get deleted as part of the update but I don't know why. By the time you get to around v270 onwards you don't need to worry about it as the codes seem to remain. v270 itself is junk.

I also don't know where you find them or how you update them as they've never been an issue for me. But search for FEC codes and you will get plenty of data.

As I've mentioned before, you NEED v308 as a stepping stone from older versions to newer but you can go traight from there to the newest (as far as I know is still 332).

I don't know which stepping stones may also exist from previous. Mine was v270 when I first bought the car. The local dealer updated to v306 when it was in for a service and then I've researched and updated since then, hence not knowing much about the earlier processes.

Hi all, few questions:

  1. for UK cars do I need EU or ROW files?

  2. I saw quite a few references to TPI documents, where can these be found? (for UK TSI 4x4 2022 reg MIB3)

  3. Is there any firmware change documentation or are the aforementioned TPIs holding that info?

Thanks

UK cars are EU - just a geographic split, not political/tax based etc.

TPIs I thought are more like internal docs for dealers so they know more about defects and recalls. You won't need them or to refer to them to update I don't think.

Key thing is MIB3 and the location so all good. And, as its pertinent to this thread, having v308 as the pivot point between earlier and later versions than that.

Which SW Version you have now?

Not near my car right now but from memory it's 27x (276?). So 308 would be the one I want in the first instance from all I read here.

I Have MOI3_RW_SKMQBP_27005P installed, and have downloaded 330 RW version. (Im in NZ)

Since the only 308 version I can find is EU, are there any consequences in going to EU 308 and then to RW 330?

I appreciate cross-region upgrades may not be wise but is it even possible?

The radio unit was replaced prior to purchasing the vehicle and the navigation already says "This function is unavailable" anyway.
