  • Well, I had another go at disconnecting the flat cable as suggested earlier in this post. I had both, the black and blue plugs connected and the radio was on (not sure if the ignition was also on). I

  • Hello, I got my car back from the workshop today. Can confirm that only the display unit (5E3919605) got replaced under warranty. The previous display unit was hardware H47, now the new one is H49.

@omeromeryigit i have to. Disconnected until i get a new unit thank you for your explaination

After a few days driving with a disconnected slider i replaced the screen for a H49 hardware version from a 2024 Octavia.

Hope the screen demons that belong to the H47 are gone now.

30 min to swap simple job.

May I ask how much you paid for the screen and where you got it from?

But watch the H49 hardware versions there should be a picture with the right hardware on it.

I paid 425 euro's for it. Mine is a year old from a 2024 plate

Just started getting this issue yesterday! Mine's a 2022 Mk4 unit.

Thanks for sharing the tip on disconnecting the white cable - I'll see if my agent can do it as a short term fix.

To update on my case - they said it's the first unit to face the reported problem in Singapore!

The whole headunit will need to be replaced, parts coming by Thursday.

Have left the car with them as this is causing my 12v battery to be drained overnight.

I hope they replace it under warranty.

My head unit is replaced to. From hardware version H47 to H49.

Hopefully it will solve your problems

Thanks for asking! Yes, it's covered by warranty here 👍

Are they replacing screen or MIB though? Cause on my car they were replacing MIB at first but issue is not there, the screen should be H49.

Hello,

I got my car back from the workshop today.

Can confirm that only the display unit (5E3919605) got replaced under warranty. The previous display unit was hardware H47, now the new one is H49.

They also did some software update to my DSG gearbox which was a separate matter.

hi, After removing the sound bar, did you have any more problems restarting it? thanks

You need to make sure the infotainment system is on when you disconnect the soundbar because the on/off button will not work anymore. So far there was no need for me to do a hard reset by pressing and holding the on/off button.

Thanks, I'll try that and the important thing is that it doesn't restart with the car off and locked to avoid draining the battery.

It's much simpler. The problem is caused by static electricity. Attach a grounding cable to the muffler. The effect won't be immediate; wait half an hour.

Columbus is glitching due to static electricity. Attach a grounding cable to the muffler. The effect doesn't appear immediately; wait half an hour.

I could have written the same post.

June July every year, then fine with no interventions until next year.

Bit earlier this year, but it’s doing it again. Been fine since i last posted. Started with the alarm going off with the engine running today and car unlocked which is a new variation. Now the constant boot cycling and volume turning down.

Coincidence that it’s the first warm day of the year?

Update.

It was looping terribly, so i pulled fuse 30 (30amp, picture below, one below the yellow tag on its own) and then left it out, locked the car Abe came back 30 mins later, reinstated the fuse and started the car.

Seems to have fixed it.

Thanks. I got the front panel off but I can't get the panel behind the screen off. Is there a trick?

hey, how did you do it? I can't get my head around getting the back panel off. Should both cables at the back remain connected? Should it come off when I remove the screws?

Made it, everything came off after removing the screws :)

Hi All,

I have this issue and it's driving us nuts; it's bad when parked at home and suddenly comes on at maximum volume, same thing happens when driving, last night on trying to restore the fuse it boot cycles.

I'm thinking of buying the screen as others have done; H49 version.

Does anyone have the part number?

Full model is Skoda Octavia SE TECH TSI E-TEC S-A Estate.

I'm calling the dealer also; but it's not longer under warranty and anyway they never call back.

If I buy it I'll find a local garage to fit it I guess.

Time being I've removed the fuse 30; I broke the glovebox slider doing so.

Hello, we've found a new solution for the multimedia issue. I believe this problem is caused by liquid getting into the touchscreen or moisture accumulating there. If you can remove the screen, clean the touchscreen with isotopic alcohol. Wipe the power button and volume bar thoroughly. I haven't experienced any issues since May 2025. The power button and volume bar work perfectly.
