  • Personally, not really in the spirit of the forum to be selling the update file.  Also, with no documentation, or indeed any reference to this update on the web, I would not install it at this point.

  • Just for clarification, in the past I supplied a lot of files for free. The costs that I made then we're not high and I could cover it with other works   However since last year the costs fo

  • I have now sourced the 1985 update package and installed successfully.  Everything seems fine but got a long journey tomorrow which will confirm its stability.  I’ll happily share it FOC over the week

Ok I didn't know that you provided in the past for free. So the 1941 and 1969 in this forum wasn't posted by you I guess. So someone that had the files shared it here. Some guys shared the files also on YouTube with tutorial on how to install by yourself. I don't know if 20€ is a good price or not. With 1969 I don't have problems I am only curious about Android Auto now on 1985 the scale is different so you can have the icons on the bottom now.

hELLO COULD YOU PLEASE SHARE THE YT, AS IM TRYING TO UPDATE THIS MYSELF

Yes but go to System information and tell me what is written there so I can tell you if you can direct upgrade or not

Also you can directly upgrade from 1941 this is confirmed, but when you have 1803 or 1806 it's better to go to 1941 firstly

I ran the update today, straight from 1896 to 1985 after seeking advice from a VAG software specialist, and it went absolutely fine just as I was told it would.

That's mine done.

The proximity sensor no longer blocks out the entire display, That is with Android Auto.

2020 2.0 TDI 150 SE L First Edition.

Finally took the decision to update my software from 1941 to 1985.

Wasn't sure if my existing hardware would allow it, but it all went OK. Apart from a squeaky bum time as it took an age (5-6min) to finally update the CPU.

I had the ignition on but engine off and also had the bonnet up. So an excuse to top up the Windscreen washer bottle.

Despite it being a simple process, thanks to all for giving me the confidence to take this on and the steps required.

Here here, mate. Well said. I too should give thanks to those who not only provided all the necessary software and instructions, but also those who posted their success stories, cos between you all you gave me the confidence to go ahead with it.

Hi! I've successfully went from 1940 to 1985 and I'm already regretting that. I had 1940 from the factory and it was quite unproblematic. Now, a day after the update, my wireless Android Auto keeps disconnecting from the car in the places it didn't before. The update is one and only variable. I tried to hard restart the multimedia unit and the phone and nothing helps. Is there an option to safely go back to 1940/1941? Or maybe there is something else I can do with that issue?

There's no retrograde step available as far as I know due to software security policies. Once you go forward you can't go backwards.

I don't really understand what you mean when you say "wireless Android Auto keeps disconnecting from the car in the places it didn't before", are you getting what I experience with my car where I know my AA disconnects & reconnects at certain locations on the A29 in West Sussex if it's setup?

I updated from 1941 and mine is fine.

Yes, Sir! I find it hard to believe it's a coincidence that this started happening the day after the update. I'm talking about 3 new points on 9 km route and one point in a city 200 km away and all of that immediately after 1985. I know it's theoretically possible but still... The good news is everything runs smoothly and maybe a little bit smoother (but I wasn't complaining about 1940 (and now I've learnt my lesson not to update sth without a really good reason ;))).

Has anyone of you experienced problems with CarPlay since the update to 1985? For me, the album cover of the current song is no longer displayed in the cockpit, and I can no longer answer calls directly via the steering wheel. I have already unpaired and re-paired the iPhone with the Octavia, but it doesn't change anything.

I've not done it yet and I'm increasingly inclined not to, my system is working fine using 1969, so am applying the rule if it ain't broke don't fix.

Do a factory reset on the system. Past experience for me is that it does not always work correctly just upgrading. I had issues going to 1941 and 1969. In both cases a reset to factory fixed it

I can also confirm updating my 11/2020 RS from 1941 to 1985 went without a hitch. I've been using it for the past few days with no issues.
