Map Updates 2025.05

I forgot to write that the maps are for Europe.

Also for me! Finally! 😎

If you pay for connect services you will get the update ahead of those that don't pay. Like monthly. Whilst the free ones run later on a six month release cycle. June, November. You pay your money and take the choice. Don't pay and they are a few month older than the paid ones.

Anyhow @MartiniB a Seat poster now says that the European one is now available online (free)

The 202525 is inline with your other post for 2025.02 so assuming it unzips fine and no mistakes by Vag should be fine. I'll inspect for 2025.02 in the file later. Leave you to test since I don't have mib3.

@MartinB

OK using that method to look at the files it's actually 2025.06. So it should come up as that once loaded if loaded fine.

that were the reason of guessing script fail

I'll let you flush out the rest.

How do you install it on the car?

By following in the pdf. I attached all of the Vag ones on this SeatCupra post. See attachment on the first post. The Skoda one is there. It's all the same. 64gb usb. Some people like the usbs that flicker so they know something is happening. Poke it in and wait after correctly unzipping it. Although I've given a few tips. There is no update button. It just senses the usb there with a map update on it.

VAG uses restart points so if it doesn't complete it will restart next time you use the car. There have been some issues unzipping the European file but surprisingly you can ignore them. A recent copy of 7zip should be used or the internal Windows unzip. I haven't spotted this issue myself. Others have but as said it does update to 25.06.

Trying to download maps from https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-US/Updates to update the Amudsen on my 2023 Karoq.

Download keeps failing.

I've tried downloading to a desktop with a ethernet connection, downloading to a laptop via wifi, tried different download folders.

Gets to anywhere between 4GB and 16GB and then just stops.

I'm keeping the PC awake by moving the mouse every so often.

Any suggestions?

No problems here with that link in Windows 24h2. I suspect you have a system issue. Have 900Mbs link but other than that pretty normal and 24h2. Then springs open in the build in file manager unzip.

Seat folk have been busy installing it on their mib3s without issue.

I'll just keep trying - maybe get lucky eventually

Try a different browser. This was Firefox. Some people use custom downloaders that may regulate / buffer the download or not.

Good call - I've been using Chrome

Thanks, any chance it can brick the system? Also i guess a usb type c connection is required and i plug it in below the ac panel where there are 2 usb c sockets for phone?

No it won't brick it. There is validation in the car to stop rogue files being uploaded. It either works or it doesn't. When it doesn't work it's down to incorrect file preparation by not following the PDFs. It's like mib2 high. It's all about presenting the files correctly.

A USB C with a built in flashing LED is liked since you see the activity taking place. Im told you get to see 25.6 whilst the LED still flashes. With a LED USB you leave it in till it stops flashing. Reckon it's finishing off the rest of Europe when it's still flashing... something that came to light recently.

Don't use a USB A to C adaptor since some of these dont have all the pins connected. Some work, some dont. Issues on the SeatCupra side where firmware updates were found not to work due to this. The seller said common.

Yes plugs into those sockets.

I have a question, maybe a stupid one, but will the Skoda map software work with VW? I haven't been able to update the maps for 1.5 years. I've tried various Kingstone and Sandisk flash drives, and now I bought an NVME to USB-C adapter with an LED. The LED flashes for 3 minutes and then starts flashing continuously. Then it flashes occasionally for about 30 seconds while driving, and that's it :(out 30 seconds while driving, and that's it :(

It should do if that is the correct file for it and the USB is OK and the files are prepared correctly and no MAC was involved without CleanMyDrive...

It can take a number of hours if you start and stop... probably presentation. Have you found the VW PDF ?.

I put all three PDFs on post 1 here. Check against. All the same technical instructions on presentation.

If the VW site was still up you would check which VW map files were common between models of mib3. Screen size I believe is a variable. @MartiniB may be able to help. You certainly see some different files published but so far it hasn't been any issue on Skoda and Seat's to my knowledge. That generation hasn't appeared yet.

VW's offline maps dowload server has been switched down several months ago :(

Going the same way as Audi ?.

Wonder if you were a registered VW customer whether you'd see the map update or whether they have done their trick of discontinuing a service early 🤔. They have a reputation of that.

@MartiniB The download for Australia is now separate from the ROW files I used to download. The Aus file is 1.96GB. Is that all I need to load, replacing 27GB previously required?

EDIT: I have MIB2, so these files are not relevant anyway.
