"Front Assist Unavailable" calibration with VCDS?

Featured Replies

In my superb style 2.0 2016, i getting the "Front Assist Unavailable" now i cleaned the radar multiple times and it seems it needs calibration.

I do have a VCDS and i wonder if it is possible to do it from it or pay a fricking 600$ for a calibration from the dealership

I know people did with OBD11 the calibration, so i really wonder if a tool such as VCDS will have it also :3

U say u cleaned the radar...the actual radar or the radar cover?

Either way, u can't do ACC radar calibration with OBDEleven or VCDS alone.

There is "static" and "active" parts to the calibration, as well as a special grid.

This is the actual radar behind the cover.

As far as I know you can only do this calibration via ODIS(and maybe VCP). You can see the procedure on different forums, I read somewhere it may not really be the need of a full calibration but just resetting some adjustment values to 0 and the radar itself does some dynamic calibration while driving. I’m not 100% sure about this tho, I recommend you do some more research. There are plenty of tutorials on these problems on the web

I seen people just doing automatic calibration on obd11 with the car facing 120cm from a wall and i hoped vcds have something similar....

I dont think it needs a really full calibration to be honest

I wouldn't go touching it!!

There's a reason why it's out of sight behind a hard cover. It's not meant to b "cleaned".

Touching it will upset it's calibration.

mispell and small edits

Perhaps it has just unseated itself from the mounting bracket and needs pushing back in place, or maybe the mounting bracket needs replacing as they have been known to fail, same thing here on a Kodiaq

I will to fir it back to his place tomorrow, thanks for the video!

A few years ago, I had the same problem of "Front Assist Unavailable" appearing on the dash. It turned out to be a broken bracket holding the radar unit in place.

  • 2 weeks later...

my car banged the car infront now it says front assist unavailabe no damage was done but a red triangle has appeared on the dash i plugged it into my reader it say no codes found but i wil take off the grill tomorrow and have look

having a look tomorrow

yes i took the grill off and dismantled the front grill the brackets are broken i sorted the brackets with large tie wraps put it all back together

nothing has changed no cruise control and it has other faults front assist unavalable even tried to turn this feature off to no avail i would love to turn the front assist off but i cant

I had this issue on mine for ages. Was able to use obdeleven to adjust some settings. I'm sure it told you how far out of alignment it was and you put the correct value in to sort it. Never had an issue with it since.

Can't remember what the video was called on YouTube though. I came across it after searching for ages for a solution
