New software available version 1989

Hello. I’ve successfully updated my SO4 1.5 TSI to software version 1989 without any problems. After the installation was completed successfully, I immediately performed a factory reset based on your feedback from here. Everything is fine except for the fact that I no longer have Driving Modes and I cannot find it anywhere . I don’t have a physical button, but I know the option used to be available somewhere in the infotainment system. Thanks.

Isn’t there a physical button, centre console below screen on same row as air con physical buttons - second button from the left (UK Var)? Only reason I say this is I forgot that the button existed and searched through the virtual buttons only to realise there was in fact a physical button for driving modes.

I grabbed the photo from the internet but, if memory serves me correctly, that’s roughly where the “Mode” button is on my Octavia Mk4 1.5 TSI SEL First Edition.

No you don't. Sorry!

Reluctantly took the plunge and updated OTA. All went well, think my battery was a bit low afterwards. I didn’t need to do a factory reset. Car was built March 2024.

2021 elite model benim araç 1805 yazılımi yükseltebilir miyim acaba

Updated this morning in 1989 from 1985. I performed two factory resets because I couldn't restore my profile as the main user.

Several updates have been installed in the meantime. We'll see if there are any bugs...

1 week ago, I installed this update OTA.

This is a VRS PHEV

Screen kept re-booting, and then nothing. Totally dead.

Soft re-boot does nothing.

Cant do hard reset as screen is not working.

Removed fuse for infotainment - no change.

There are warnings about disconnecting battery - (as PHEV) - so I wont do that.

Its booked in at Skoda service for 16th December, but if anyone has experience of this and how to resolve it before then - Id be very grateful.

Press and hold the screen off button to turn it on and off. When the blue Skoda text appears on the full screen, press and hold the menu button to enter the engineering menu and then exit by pressing quit. The screen will be fixed.

I don’t get anything on the screen.

It’s like the screen is dead

Holding the power buttons does nothing

Any other ideas ?

Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. If the screen resets and the word Skoda appears on the screen, as soon as the word Skoda appears, press and hold the menu button to enter the engineering menu. You need to be very quick. After that, quit and exit, and it should fix the problem. The same thing happened to me, I fixed it with this method.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Unfortunately, I dont get the SKODA appearing on the screen - it did until a few days ago - now nothing appears, even if I hold POWER for 30s.

Regards

Brian

I was able to drive the car for two hours today. Nothing in particular to report...

I have updated the system via OTA 6 days ago. So far everything works just fine. Maybe it is just a feeling bit the screen seems a bit more faster and responsive. Also one thing, icons on menu screen now can be rearranged. I haven't done factory reset.

I got the update. My previous version was 1945 (manually installed). I had to do the factory reset and all seems OK except one thing.

There are some areas where the car loses connections to the phone. This wasn't happening before. And these are the same areas where my friend's VW loses connection to his phone.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well after nearly 2 months of cancelling the update whenever I got in the car it decided for whatever reason last Wednesday to download the update OTA while I was out and about in the car.

It was my last day off before then returning to work and therefore using the car for the following few days so really didn’t want to update it at that stage in case things didn’t work but I bit the bullet and let it install it whilst at home that afternoon.

Once installed everything seemed ok but I carried out a factory default reset just in case and then logged back in to my account and made myself the primary user again, (Took a couple of attempts to log myself back in again for whatever reason), and then went about changing the remaining settings that needed changing again after the restore.

I also had to uninstall and reinstall the Traffication app a couple of times before that would log back in again and I’ve also gone through the settings of the app to disable and enable all the warnings as they didn’t seem to work properly after the update either but other than that all seems to be working as it should. (Touch wood!!!!!).

My unit’s details are as per the image.

I vaguely remember accepting an update a few days ago, don't think I've driven the car since, my other half has been out in it this evening and come back saying words to the effect of 'your stupid car is playing up again, the screen keeps going on and off!'.

Expect I'm experiencing all the issues listed here, not been out to look at the car yet but will try to do the factory reset (if it allows me to). Not looking forward to trying the setup again, I have no idea what my S-PIN is (I shouldn't need a PIN to use my car).

I've got to do a 190 mile journey for work on Monday night, won't be back until Wednesday night and won't be able to get to a dealer to try and fix it if it goes pear shaped. This is very poor from Skoda. I also suffered from many of the pre 1941 version issues so this is the second time the infotainment system has played up. This will be my last VAG car, the software is terrible. I work in IT, in financial services, so know the importance of proper testing. At best this is an inconvenience, at worst it is dangerous (the ACC issue).

Wish me luck!

Just reset it deleting a user with two keys on you and it will be fine, skoda made different layout of hardware software on newer skodas after 2025….but in majority i didnt buy car because of stupid infotaiment but because of good usage on long or short trips nice engine power and dsg for cheaper price than audi bmw or mercedes and thats it i cant expect miracles…

Im doing 200k km in 4years and this is my third skoda from 2016…none of them ever leave me on trip or any mehanical failure…

It’s really simple to factory reset, will take all of 10-15 minutes maximum and majority of your settings will re-download from the Cloud. Think you can get an S-Pin reminder through the portal and once car set up just disable the S-Pin on the Infotainment system.

All fine this morning 🤷‍♂️

Checked SW and it's still on 1941. The other half said it asked her to update but she cancelled it. Will keep an eye out for updates and only apply when I have some time.

Can anyone confirm whether the ACC issue is back as this is a key feature for me and I can't be doing with it being broken again. Does it fix itself after doing the factory reset after applying 1989?

Hello, everyone!
I have a problem after update.

I updated my 2020 Skoda MK4 to 1989 via flash USB (I reset the settings to defaults several times and made myself the main user). The problem is as follows: when I open the car, I see that the Columbus and cockpit are lit up in green (I set this screen green style for myself), as if everything is okay, but as soon as I sit in car and close the door, everything resets to the default settings and the color of the Columbus style turns gray, but the cockpit remains green. As soon as I press the ignition button (start), the color of the Columbus turns green and it starts to greet me and connect to my smartphone. In the previous update, as soon as I open car and got into the car, Columbus immediately pulled up all my profile settings, greeted me, and connected to my phone. I don't understand what's wrong, whether it's an update bug or if I need to configure something else, maybe it's related to the keys. Please help.

hi skoda fans,

Because that's a new version of the infotainment system, so I'd leave it alone.

Also I don't think that the 1989 is compatible with it either, so the old adage of "If it ain't broke don't fix!" applies.
