I'm looking at a 72k mile Skoda Superb 65 plate, hopefully lots of motorway miles. It looks good, my main concerns being the lack of dsg oil change & potential for carbon build up due to direct injection.

I currently have a mk6 Golf GTI (EA888 Gen 1) which didn't support dual injection & bit me when the carbon build up & clogged injectors caused a flooded cylinder.

I've tried to research this but I'm getting conflicting information around this engine & I wasn't sure if some VAG variants ship with dual injection and others don't. If anyone has any good resources for this type of info I'd really appreciate the guidance!

Bar-Tek seems to be a decent (if generic) source of info from a Google search. States: "Injection: Direct injection; in later Gen.3 versions in certain markets, partly combined with intake manifold injection". However, further asking Google "when did the Gen3 receive dual injection" throws up 2013 so it looks like the Superb 280's always had it; and engine code CJXA (what you're looking at) is confirmed as Dual too.

Interesting side note I always thought that later DNUA engine (272bhp version with GPF) was Gen3b but it isn't. Must have just had GPF added and updated software to manage it. There doesn't seem to have been a high power version of the 3b.

I had a 2016 280tsi, it had dual injection. Now I have a 2023 280tsi which has only single injection. Not sure when it changed but I would guess when the 280 went down to 272 and got a gpf.

Correct the above, with GPF went again single injection, and lost the exhaust valve as well.

Mine still has the plugs in the manifold 😁

Just to clear up something, I'm looking at engine CHHB. Not the CJXA. So it'll be the 220tsi in my case.
