MFD2 is IN...............

Featured Replies

Mine has been on a copied disk without problems m8, I burnt it at single speed on quality branded media which makes a difference. The Unit was supplied with a copy of 2004 on CD-R and that's been working fine also.

Not saying your wrong, but could be down to burning / media and the fact that some units may be more sensitive than others

Your probably right, I suspect the disk was copied poorly onto cheap media, was really annoying when you dont bring a normal map because you rely on the navigation, then it decides to stop navigating because it doesn't know where you are!!

It's been fine since I bought a genuine disk, but I suspect a properly copied disk should be fine, if there is no copy protection theres no reason why it shouldnt be ok I suppose.

Didn't get that impression earlier in the thread.

Nevermind looking forward to the Leather Bottle meet then. :D

Oooh you bitch, (draws handbag back and takes aim!) ;)

Replaced the Stream with the MFD2.

Does anyone know if you are able to get the Radio/CD to reduce in volume when engaging reverse like the stream did ?

I can't see anything in the PDF copy of a VW manual I have.

Not seen a feature for that on the unit.

As it doesnt look for the PDC data it's likely there is no such feature.

Just looking through some other info and it looks like there are options to code the CAN-Gateway for Navigation.

When I get my unit I'll be able to tell you more.

Ok look forward to your update - whatever CAN-Bus is (assuming a VAG communications protocol)?

I have a VW manual on PDF - although not brilliant. any chance you can share it around in case its better than mine, although i suspect its the same ?

quite happy to distribute mine if people want to PM me with email address. Note: file is 2.3mb in size.

Probably the same as the one I have. PM me your email address.

I have ordered what I believe to be the Skoda manual from my dealer, it's on back order but if and when it arrives I'll post the details.

What kind of options Stu?

Also talking to my dealer he reckons the latest Skoda disk has speed camera sites marked. Can anyone confirm?

As for the volume reduction my Stream didn't do that anyway as it was dealer fitted parking sensors. :thumbdwn: Nevermind just turned down the radio/cd.

If you want to take a look then bring your laptop on Thursday.

Cheers,

Hedge.

Yeah I might do that mate.

To take this right back to the start...

I am interested in a Skoda MFD 2 with latest disk. I don't have Maxi-DOT, I don't have access to VAG-com. How much pain am I setting myself up for? Is the coverage UK only? I need mainland Europe, too, to help me on my trips to Germany.

And is eBay pretty much the only non-dealer source...?

NAVI-CENTER: navigation systems- RNS, RNS-E, MFD, MFD2, NAVIGATION, NAVIGATIONS

Start here but you won't like the prices compared to ebay!

There are several other places around that sell them but you wont get much change from a grand.

However, there is always a risk of being shafted if you buy one from ebay so it pays to check the seller is legit.

I fitted mine with no VAG-COM assistance like quite a few others on here.

I have maxi dot but it will still work without it, you wont get the turn graphics replicated on the dashboard but all the info is still visible on the MFD2.

All the wiring is the same, unplug the old one and plug the new one in, simple.

You can obain the latest disks from various sellers as well, EU maps are available.

The sites selling MFD2's and disks have been talked about so have a rummage through the threads and you'll find them.

Cheers, matey

Also I'd be happy to sort out any VAG-COM requirements for you if we find there are any.

I have done a deal with an ebay seller who has 100% feedback and takes PayPal in the hope of making things more secure. I can give the details if you wish.

Please do - want to get Xmas out of the way first but I am very seriously considering this.

Cheers,

I'll PM you.

Do I need any additional leads to connect an aux input to the unit? Could be the solution to connecting my sony network walkman to a factory head unit finally. I saw mentioned a plug and play lead on here but everywhere I have seen these units it says simply connects to existing connections I'm  Cheers Guys

On the back of the MFD2 there is an additional input which i believe is for AUX inputs...

Try the Dietz 1215 or 1213 for an input

SatNav Systems

I have not tried this, but it is £30
