Anyone fitted to a 2007 MY Octy yet?

I have some info - I'll post it up soon.

Please tell the suspence is killing me after we tried more earthing wires with no results:( .Hope it was easy to do stu;) .

I have fitted to a late 2006 - and I know have the 06/07 CD for UK/Ireland.

It did a firmware upgrade when inserted, and it also now hows my street (all be it 8 years old)

I have not done a standard route, but you could argue its not particularly useful for 'known' journeys unless you have to follow a diversion - or choose to turn due to upcoming congestion.

I have the one with the TMC codes, and it looks to have 'new copy protection'

This should clear it up -

It's likely they have added copy protection in response to the amount of these units on the market with moody navigation CD's.

Firmware update? what does it entail?

Well i never ;) Your website looks to be comming along nicely stu keep up the good work mate:thumbup: .

Cheeky buggers eh. I was convinced it was issue with the Aux In as it didn't affect your car.

Firmware update? what does it entail?

1. Turn on unit

2. Remove current CD-R

3. insert new CD

4. This will then initialise and start the update

Takes about 3 minutes, then the unit reboots. Not tried the old 2004 disc since though

Updating the firmware can be very risky, if the disk is not perfect or the power is interupted then you can end up with a very expensive doorstop that cannot be repaired!

I did not get a choice to update or not, just went off and did it....

At least i know have most of the new roads, and hoping that its aware of the M6 Toll road layout !

It would be interesting to know what the firmware update actually does.

Can anyone shed any light on it?

I think it puts the basic map data on it such as language etc. I don't think it is a device firmware update as such as these come from Skoda rather than the mapping company.

I have sent an email to Teleatlas support asking the question. i will also check the version information displayed within the unit, and hopefully someone can compare this and post here ?

The unit firmware updates come from the Skoda Dealer. If you change to another map it will do an update to the flash memory as well. It's just the mapping data.

Have you read VWNavi at all? Firmware upgrades are well documented.

Have you read VWNavi at all?

Not as yet, I'm new to this MFD2 malarky :D

The firmware question was just wishful thinking in case it did something like add more features etc. I had a feeling it wouldn't be anything special.

If Skoda are the holders of firmware updates I presume they will tell me to get stuffed if I fitted the MFD2 myself.

The firmwares when available have been posted on VWNavi

Thanks for that, I'll be off trawling the vwnavi forums.

I'll be back when I bodge a firmware update and end up with said expensive doorstop:rofl:

VWnavi seems to cover firmware for MFD units only, there isn't much for the MFD2 as yet :(

LOL - I won with a token bid! I didn't expect, and I can't afford, but thought if a min bid wins it's too good an opportunity to miss...

Call off Christmas!

Anyhoo, looks like I'll be after that fitting assistance soon enough.

What was the part number for the surround in silver again...?

Autopark777 is who I bought mine from too, should be here in a few days, can't wait  .

As for fitting yours Mark, I'm sure if you give Stuart the nod he'll happily sort you out.

MFD2/Climatronic silver trim is 1Z0 858 069C

The ones we have for the vRS are 1Z0 858 069 L 2AU

the 2AU is the colour code for Aluminium.

Ta for info.

339 with shipping, hope mine is the same buying experience as you chaps. Man wish I had Maxi-Dot now...

See you're Hampshire, Stu. Jacksons Basingstoke is where I got my car - you familiar?

I do have a more local parts and service only place but I'll be popping down to Jacksons for some warranty work next week anyway.
