Featured Replies

I have fitted a 1215 as a stereo aux input to my MFD2. Couldn't really justify the video aux input @

And a word of warning.

When I tried my mates ipod with the Aux setting on Aux (A) there was no sound.:thumbdwn:

When I changed it to Aux (A+V) then plenty of sound.

The only disadvantage, if any, is that the screen is blank. However you can view the map or compass.

Which made me very relieved as I didn't relish the prospect of taking it all to bits....

And just to confirm...

The OEM Skoda CD MFD2 does not play MP3 cds, right?

The OEM Skoda CD MFD2, when retrofitted replacing Stream and without Maxi-Dot will do that clever bit taking into account car movement to fill in the blanks when sat lock is lost?

Just need the cash now...

I think that covers it Mark.

From my experience with my Non Maxidot vRS you are correct on both counts. Mine is fine "filling in the gaps" when it loses sat's under long tunnels for example.

I feel cheated ...... no Maxidot .... sniff

But I got Xenons ;)

Fanks, boys :)

Has anyone know if I can utilise the "TELE" function with a standard Nokia Car kit with the wiring loom ?

The Manual says "reserverd for additional functions at a later date"

it would be nice if the number calling is displayed - i doubt for one minute that it can be used to dial ?

Isn't Tele just the mute?

I actually mean the button. If you press it you get a screen

"No Active Call"

does this mean if i get car kit with the wiring loom, it will display active call and mute - or even better display the incoming call details ?

I think the best you can hope for is the MFD2 muting and showing "active call" based on the phone mute input. I don't think it has the capability to display the incoming call information.

Here's to positive thinking

You are such a kill joy.... someone must know the answer.

I know if you get the "right" car kit, it will display the number on the maxidot.

I asked the dealer regarding the car kit and they gave me a price but would not fit ???

So rang a number recommended by the sales-man and he said don't bother the car kits c**p

The plug looks right and to view pictures on the move I presume you scotchlock the GALA cable through the box to fool it into thinking you are parked.

By the looks of it the brightness/colour/contrast is adjusted by 3 pots on the top so it would need to be fairly accessible.

Looks fairly decent and the price is good.

If you have no Gala signal this will surely mean that the navigation is not so acurate, so the magic black box must reconnect Gala when not showing DVD's etc

This is true, but I believe that the system relies solely on the GPS signal when it has good satalite reception and will only use the gala speed pulse during poor satalite reception.

Tomtom et al, all manage fine without a gala speed pulse, only going slightly wrong when in tunnels etc.

I have sent an email to the company to clarify how it works. heres hoping for a responce.

On a side note, I sprayed up and fitted my new trim to go with the MFD2.

I have a spare trim panel as I bought 2 and it's all painted up in silver for anyone who needs one.

This is for the MFD2 with standard Climatic aircon, not the Dual Zone. A silver replacement panel is not available if you have standard aircon, only black.

Pic below of it painted and fitted

Who installed your Parrot ?

Who installed your Parrot ?

I was going to ask what that device is, now I know

There is a switch in the Gala pulse cable - simple.

No Navigation when watching a DVD so no Gala required.

The gala signal comes into the unit in 2 places, 1 for the stereo side and 1 for the navigation, (the stereo side is so it can turn the volume up and down as you speed up/slow down) fortunately the stereo input of the Gala cable is the one that controls the screen going blank when you move, so the Navigation still gets the gala signal even when you put a switch in.

You can then still get voice directions when watching a DVD! If you have Maxi dot you will also get arrows on the display as usual.

I notice there is an 'Aux' button on the MFD2. What does that connect to, i.e. is there auxilliary outputs on the back of the unit?.
