To be honest I ain't got a clue as thee is no indication with the disc. I would assume however that it would be the same as yours as it came from the same source!.

To find out stick the disk in a PC and look for a file called Info.txt. Open this using notepad or similar and it will tell you.

Someone has written how to do it on here (RayWard I think) but I couldn't find it.

I believe so, sadly it doesnt work as the MFD2 seems incapable of powering up the external amplifier.

All,

Wondering what version of the Navigation CD you have in your MFD2 ?

I honestly thought this would be redily available via the MFD2 GUI.

I have the answer

1. take the cd out of the MFD2

2. mount in a windows operating system

3. browse the root of the CD

4. look for a file called INFO.TXT

5. open the file in wordpad/notepad

look for the line at the top

Project-Name: TAN Great Britain 2003/2004 DX

As you can see mine was 2003/2004

I have the new 2006/07 CD with ITIS (TMC Codes) from SatNav Systems

Steve

Looking at the coding side of things it looks like it might work, there is definately an option to code the unit for the amplified speakers.

Fancy trying yours in mine? Oh er?!

It's an idea.

You need to check the wiring though Steve, pull you current unit and take a picture of the diagram sticker on it and we'll compare it. (I could do with an image to complete my guide :D ).

Look at my guide and you'll see that I have got an image of a Stream which mentions connections for the Audience. The only difference I can see is the Alarm and the U/B.

Alarm/mute I don't know about yet (Although Chris Ellis and Mr Fish both had Stream units which have now been replaced with MFD2 without issue) and the U/B and RAD On (Which I presume is the switching supply for the amp) look ok.

Hope I've not confused you mate :P

Forgot to add that assuming we overcome the wiring problem I hope it's then just a case of coding the unit as per my guide with -

"00012 for an Octavia fitted with Sound System, Cloth interior and a CD Changer"

Do you have leather?

I'll need to get hold of some removal tools then... Thanks

Just thought also, as I have audience I don't have the CD Changer in the boot, anyone know if the wiring would be there just waiting for one to be installed?

No tools required mate - 4 screws.

I wouldn't think so mate. I just bought a install kit for my Dads Fabia. it comes with everything you need to put it under the seat, wonder if there would be the same for the Octy in the boot.

Anyone with EKTA able to look to see if this kit is available?! (in Stu's direction again! ;))

Will try and get the unit out tomorrow...

Alternatively has anyone got a a MFD2 working with an MP3 player nicely? Would then make a noce idea for a Christmas present for me!

Just waiting for my octy...and thinking about this upgrade.

Got a few questions..

1) Does it show the rear parking sensor visual like on the stream?

2) Can you load POI's onto it...ie speed cameras?

3) Does the AUX input still work in the Jumbo box in the 2007 octy

Cheers

Much appreciated!

Vim

No, you lose this feature.
2) Can you load POI's onto it...ie speed cameras?
No, you can't (until someone works out the POI format - but even then there's no capability of alerting you to an upcoming POI, nor alerting you to driving too fast past it) - if you want these features, stick to a separate SatNav unit.

Don't know, but I don't believe Skoda remove / warn of any problems with the MFD2 and the new AUX socket, so I guess it should work. Don't blame me if it doesn't though :)

The VW/Skoda kit pictured on my website will work Steve, it's a Denison unit that installs into the glove box. Utilises the CD changer inputs.

I've posted details about this on here and in my octavia-vrs website.

Nice one, kinda missed that bit on your website!

Sure am tempted...I think i'll be doing it a while after I get my Octy, gonna do things in stages so I don't get bored! As I planning to keep my car for as long as possible ;o)

Happy day.

When are you going to get it fitted and are you going to get the services of Stu to assist?. I'm glad Stu was there to assist in the install with mine as it needed a recode with Vag-Com to get it working properly (sat-nav disc wouldn't load!).

I can almost sense the excitement. :D :P

I can smell it from here :P

Hehe!

Hopefully I'll be able to make my way down Stu's neck of the woods on Friday...

Unit looks clean and was well packaged. Here's hoping for the best...

Did you get a GPS antenna with it? + have you got the new surround for it too?.

Came with test UK disk (will have to buy up-to-date disks for UK and Mainland), VW business card with various numbers on it and GPS antenna.

Will be picking up a surround from Jacksons tomorrow when they have an initial poke at my motor for the fuel gauge prob, but they can't get an AUX plug for a couple of weeks so not ordered it from them.

I doubt if you'll be picking up a surround tomorrow ? I have been waiting over 2 weeks for mine !
