Sorry to burst everyones bubble - but we are not expecting to see fabia vRS untill v.late 2009 or even 2010!! == there will be a sport version sometime next year but no vRS just yet....

Although they tell us it will be worth the wait...

There are no plans to bring a vRS Fabia out at all I'm afraid. The factory can't make it work viably so they're not going to bother.

I don't believe that for one minute.

Yes, it may not be the best seller in Europe, but to miss out on the fact they sold gawd knows how many thousand of them in Blighty would be silly and they would loose a hell of a following and sales.

Skoda are **** at not telling the loyal followers about the next vRS, but to ailienate them altogether would be bad news.

I heard there were plans for a Superb vRs when it comes out in a years time, something about 3.0l TDi with 4WD.

So if this iss true, they 'ent going to leave out the Fabia vRs.

I read soemwhere (on here I think) that they were having 'technical issues' which I would take as not being able to shoehorn a 2.0 TDi in the engine bay, (intercooler space etc).

Which would lead me to speculate that they won't go to this much bother for a measly 140BHP TDi.

The line from Skoda at the moment is that they cant bring out what they want to at the moment - therefore we have to wait. There are plans to have a vRS Superb when it comes out - based on a V6 PETROL engine ala R36 passat -- although who knows when it will arrive.

Trust me on this - Skoda have shelved the Fabia vRS.

If that's the case, why would they make an Octy vRS and a possible Superb vRS and no Fabia vRS to sit in the middle - come on that's not going to happen???

It may not come out for 2 years yet, but not to make one is plain stupid.

That's like Ford not making a hot Fiesta and telling young people to buy the Focus ST,

'because we can't be bothered to sort it out'.

They sold over 11,000 vRS mk1's, they could easily sell another 11,000 mk2's if they make a good car.

If there is a delay on the car, I think it may be down to them changing to common rail later next year so they don't have to switch round engines half way through as the PD won't hit the emissions targets soon, then my car won't sound like a Transit in the cold mornings :D

If anybody from Skoda is on here.......

SORT IT OUT......I'M NOT KEEPING MY FABIA vRS FOREVER.......MAKE IT OFFICIAL AND TELL US YOUR PLANS!!!!!! Phew.

I dunno why everyone expects one so soon anyway....

The old shape was a good 3 years before it came out, and i personally think they will do a face change beofre anything else.

I doubt that. The VRS was a big seller for Skoda and the money they will gain for the release of a proper 'sporty' one is too great.

Look at the competition. Soon as the new model comes out (as per Corsa) the hot version is soon on it's tails.

The reason it was 3 years last time is because there was no intention of a sports version. The WRC was the only reason they decided to homologate the Fabia as they entered rallying with it.

Skoda needed a homoglated Fabia in order to enter the Fabia in WRC. Which is why they brought out the Fabia vRS in the first place...

I believe the car has to be over 4000mm in length which is why the Fabia vRS got bigger bumpers, but they don't need to have the big wide arches etc on the road going car.

That is correct.

Oh. You learn every day!

In fact, the RS200 did an effective job of killing off the homologation rules in place at the time. In those days, in order to be eligible, you had to sell a certain number of cars to the public (200 I believe, hence 'RS200'!), so 'homologation specials' such as that (and the V6 Metro?) came into existence. Nowadays, as Blade 404's said, the rules are such that the road-going version of the rally car has to comply with certain rules, but there's no requirement beyond that. AIUI, if the Fabia had been >4m in length from the start, then the vRS wouldn't technically have been necessary. Like the Citroen Xsara - they made 'hot' versions for sure, but I don't think any attempt was made to establish a rallying connection. However, the sporty connection (however tenuous) is a powerful marketing tool, of course so why not shift a few models at a bit of a premium...?

Hmm....The 6R4 you mean.

That's the one. But as I say, the only 'homologation special' I know about for sure being made to get round the rules at the times was the RS200. I guess the 6R4 looked a teensy bit like a Metro (like WTCC cars these days, I guess!), whereas no-one could pretend the RS200 looked like an Escort! :D
