Thinking of buying a vRS

Featured Replies

Hello,

I currently own a golf V5 but to be honest it is really doing my head in. Its so unreliable and fuel thirsty that it costing me a fortune.

Before this car I owned an ibiza cupra 20vt so I am familiar with the 1.8t engine. I had Jabbasport remap it and it went really well.

I am tempted to go back to the ibiza but I noticed that I can probably afford an RS Octavia. I was just wondering if any of you guys could give me your honest opinions on your Octavia's before I take the jump and buy one.

How do they perform? What type of BHP and torque figures should I expect after a remap and whats the build quality like.

I am looking to buy a yellow one as I like my cars to look a bit different.

Any help will be appreciated.

Karl

Welcome Karl !

Come along to the Midlands meet next weekend and taste a few of UK's finest... :)

the best way to describe my thoughts on the Octavia vRS are that if mine got nicked or wrecked, I'd replace it with another, without hesitation.

They really are THAT good :D

Don't THINK, Just BUY the Octy vRS, I promise you won't be dissapointed !

Hi Karl,

Welcome to the site and I admire your colour choice.

A yellow octy looks fabulous when clean (so that'd be about twice in the last 2 years for me :()

on my 2nd RS via 330d Bee-em.....

That's half the problem - if you do THINK, then you'd buy the furby vRS.

Welcome on board!

(as a side issue, I've seen silver and black RS estate owners on here, but no yellow or red RS estates?)

That's half the problem - if you do THINK, then you'd buy the furby vRS.

 Strange how this ongoing dispute seems to move around from thread to thread ey?

Are the octy owners trying to keep up with us fab ulous ones I wonder?

Both in the discussion stakes, and I suspect on the road too :D

Karl, just do yourself a favour,go and try a fab ulousfantastic, and you'll see what we mean...unless you are going taxiing of course.

Wise old :owl: C.J.

IMHO

Enough is enough, it's getting boring

The guy asked about an Octavia RS, why suggest the Fabia? If someone said, "I'm looking for a Golf" you would of course say "Go look at a Polo" wouldn't you?

As to which is quickest/fastest, having driven both, it is the Octavia, sorry if that hurts, it just is. You can spout all you like Fabia owners, but you know it is true.

The Fabia is an excellent car, best in its class IMHO, but, it is aimed at a different driver to the Octavia.

Yap, slower ones.

The Octavia vRS the real deal.

You could always get a Black one....... and then get a Superb........ and then get a Red one.......but who would be stupid enough to do that.

Im going to try and be sensible about this... even tho im a evil Fabia vRS owner

Get a Octy and you wont be dissapointed. its the best all round car that VAG produce with the 1.8T in it.

Leon: handles ever so slightly better but crashy ride and will fall apart.

Golf: AHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

A3: overpriced.

Octavia: slightly bigger than the above, but still on the golf floorpan. has the best areodynamic figure so has better top speed (leon owners complain around 130 :D )

they are also very well put together and well specced, tho some people get the white carpet changed by the dealer to stop it looking scruffy very quickly.

Octavias are very good cars. and reliable too. (our man Jon, above had done 130k in his tav including 12k track mileage, mostly on the 'ring.) without any major problems
