Who was the instigator,and where did you find the rest of the team. Find it a bit of a coincidence that you all owned Skodas AND knew each other.

How long did it take to fire it all up,and what was the very first thread? Can you drag it out of the archives if it was interesting enough?

Twas the Northern monkeys who came up with it, we were on vwvortex before as a sub-category, they decided there should be a UK forum for Skodas. Think it was Colin (ColinD) Ian (Tavia4x4) and Huck who came up with it IIRC

nobody has gone anywhere some mods / admins are less involved due to other commitments with work/ families but there are enough in the backroom to cover

Me remembers it well.. Me mate Dave reckons I should buy one o dem Skoda's coz dey is well quick and betta than a Nova (Batty car for real) and I is seein dis site what is called VWVortex.

At first me thought it was dem what is likin it in both pipes. But it turns out dat dey is all totally Westside and dat dey is indeed bruvaz in da hood, wiv blingin motaz.

So Colin, Ian, Jon and Huck and some ouva top geezers sorted der own electronic crib (aye!) and da bruvaz left batty vortex and was gettin into Briskoda.

Da rest is history holmes...aye and we is all got a tear in da eye when rememberin da biginins (innit) of Briskoda back in da day.

So dere you av it, dat is word! :confused:

Oh and footnote..........It is the best run site you can be part of (and that is FOR REAL..AYE!)

Does anyone still check Vortex for stragglers? And I notice Mr. Lucky was there. He still stalks but no word recently. I still think of him every time I drive with the window down listening to the turbo.

Yep, I like my car as much - if not more. Specially since a little trip to Cambridgeshire / Lincolnshire.

I started on bouncingCzechs and someone{cant remember who?} sent me in the direction of Vortex. How things have grown...

The bouncing czech website, was around at the same time as vortex. We all posted on both, because the bouncing czech forum had a member who at one point worked for skoda. He was quiet handy for quizing and sorting out problems. Sadly that site seemed to have gone quiet since he moved on. Ron who runs that site is a member here, and a few years ago had an octy. Another member from there, DiGi is also a member here and posts on occasions.

Going back to vortex, I think it was Duncan (dmac1969), then me, then John (stopan1j) who were the 1st uk skoda members over there.

OctaviaRS.com was born more as a large photo gallery to store members pics as more members posted pics of their cars and was initially the official briskoda gallery. Then things came on in leaps and bounds.

I think this was the 1st vortex/briskoda meet, me and stopan1j was back in 2001.

We don't hear much of Duncan either. I know he had to sell the RS but I hope it wasn't the unfortunate abuse he got from parties unknown that put him off Briskoda. Last I heard he was looking for another Octavia. Strangely, I always keep an eye out when I drive through Berwick.

Rich, as far as i know, Duncan is currently driving an EVO2 and actively posting on the Lancer Register site.

He did, and was still posting here for a good while afterwards, when he was driving a Galant.

Whatever his resons for not posting here, it would be good to see him drop by occasionally, irrespective of what car he currently owns
