  1. Well I assumed it would be obvious that if you not telling your insurance company of a non damage incident, then you don't then go on to tell them at a later date. If you're not telling them, then you're not telling them. I think some folk are forgetting or not realising what it's like to be a very young driver, the massive insurance premiums they pay and the even bigger premiums they pay if they have claims made against them. In this case, the other driver is a real nice genuine lad and I'm all about being reasonable and helpful to people like him, I remember being in his shoes once. My lad will be learning to drive soon and we will be in the same boat as this lad, with us fearing him causing a crash and just hoping the other driver will be as reasonable about it as we are. My Yeti was inspected by a body shop today, thankfully no damage, everything works, the bumper panel was removed and put back into place. No charge by the bodyshop for the inspection, but I did offer to pay them. So i left them a few ££ for their tea & coffee fund, enough to supply them for a month or so, including biscuits. If anyone wants to report the body shop for failing to disclose the tea fund money to the Inland Revenue then I'll happily supply you with the details
  2. I've got a paltry 390ps and 558nm. Money not well spent then! Roscio - It's a cobra sport downpipe and a mid pipe without resonator. It's a bit loud, but it is a bit more savage than a stage 1.
  3. Some tech is magical when it works. The rear view mirror in the new defender is brilliant. It replaces the real view with a camera view so that the spare wheel doesn't obstruct your vision. But too much tech is there for the sake of it, not integrated well and more hassle than its worth. Touch screens for drivers should be banned imho.
  4. 1. Yeah but paying 1860EUR for upgrading my own turbo to a LM440 IS38 and still making just... 400bhp is kinda hard to swallow you know I'd like to see mid 9's at least. So I'm afraid I won't stop at an upgraded turbo but continue to an upgraded intercooler, a downpipe etc.... 2. You know I could troll like some people on FB groups and post just one Dragy run showing 10.1" but that was more of a fluke in the best conditions possible. I don't want to fool myself (or others) that's why I wrote that the repetitive performance is closer to mid 10s and even just slightly above that, which is of-course an amazing time as it matches a non-GPF stage 2 car with upgraded catalyst, but you know what I mean. But there seems to be something with GPF engines I have to admit. I've seen two GPF Cupras ST 4Drive (1550-1580kg depending on equipment) do 8.5"-8.8" with a real stage 2, upgraded catalyst and GPF removed from an independent tuner . Even if they are closer to 9" this is a huge time for a GPF stage 2 1550+ car.
  5. It'll cost you a few euros, but you can do it here erWin Online | Škoda Auto | (skoda-auto.cz) Or talk nicely to your local dealership parts person and ask for the car data pdf for your VIN. Doubt they're very busy so may be amenable.
  6. Any adjustments made that affects the rear toe will affect how the ADAS system works and will require calibration of the sensors thereafter. Minor front toe adjustments will usually be ok. The equipment for ADAS calibrations costs £1000s and requires special training. The full process can take up the majority of a day if there are several sensors requiring calibration and possible adjustments. Some systems associated with the alignment are: Front radar Front lazer (if applicable) Front camera Adaptive headlights G85 steering angle sensors It's all become a bit mental.
  7. Well know up North that you don’t buy used cars from Keighley. most forums have some tales regarding this seller. im 25 miles away and I think I would travel to Plymouth rather than risk from them. very intimidating atmosphere at the garage so I’m told. they do have some exotics but I don’t know anyone who has bought from them. I think there’s a “wedding” hire business this car could be the exception but do you want the risk?

Great I do hope that you get satisfaction.
  9. Talk about hang em high, assuming that after inspection the damage is no more than it looks, push a plastic panel back in place and maybe a touch up why the desire to boost the coffers of the insurers to the detriment of a young driver who is probably already paying a four figure premium? Given the reactions the young man is very fortunate to have driven into the OP's vehicle, I could see whiplash claims & hire cars from others. I think the breaking the law has been dispelled, what planet does the invalidating your insurance by choosing not to claim for (non) damage come from?

I've had an update from Skoda. Apparently they'll be installing a campaign that is expected to address all of my issues except for the kph/mph. It'll fix the units on the sat nav and is expected to fix the matrix LED alignment. Fingers crossed I guess.
  11. As the saying goes, "at one time in your life everyone should own an Alfa". Back in 2000 I had a Black 156 2.0 Twin Spark with red leather interior. The girls in the office used to call it the "pimp mobile" ha, but I loved it. Not the most practical thing being a saloon but immensely enjoyable to drive. The current Giulia looks / drives great but as you say, not very practical.
  12. I was also a bit of a dinosaur or luddite if you prefer just 3 years ago then I experienced the pleasure of using a 7 speed DSG and I missed my reversing camera from my 2017 Vrs245 so that and the excellent virtual dash convinced me to dump the basic Sportline Plus I bought in 2019 and replace with all the toys I missed. When you finally get a car with the latest technology including very bright Matrix headlights and blind spot monitors in the wing mirrors helps enormously on busy dual carriageways and motorways to reduce stress levels on my 40 minute commute. Adaptive cruise control works well when I'm tired and finishing a 12 hour night shift.
  13. this is a well known issue (flash wearing out that is). Sounds like someone took a pilot project bodge through to production. Or a developer spotted some free memory and started to use it without asking what it was for. This sort of thing will be commonplace in cars going forward.
  14. My car reg is on display 24/7 for anyone to clone who wants to. No point hiding it on the internet. I think folk hide it without really knowing why they are doing so, they just think they should.
  15. If you're staying on OEM shocks then yeah maybe go for a spring that doesn't drop as much as H&R - Eibach pro are your only choice really. It's not the springs that are crashy or bad, it's the compatibility of your shocks and springs. OEM setup isn't sure what it's doing in my opinion, it wants to be a soft sensible family car but also they've dropped the height from a normal Octavia and it also wants to be 'sporty'. It's neither in reality! Either swap the springs out for Eibach pro and lose the more aesthetically pleasing ride height, or keep the HR springs and get some decent shocks to pair up with them (Bilstein B8 or something). I've done HR springs and whiteline rear ARB - it does massively improve the car on turn in, in terms of less boaty pitch and roll, but the shocks are still letting the side down, so going to HR coilovers and front and rear H&R ARB's while it's up on the ramp. I'm under no illusion that it won't be as soft, but I can't stand the indecisive personality of the OEM suspension. I think B8's and HR springs would be the best bet, but I couldn't help think that for a few more quid I could get decent branded coilovers (TUV gepruft too!)
  16. The Blue Beestie with the Passat alloys and the 215/55/16 winters. Not really noticed any negatives in steering or in handling. Usual road noise increase from the winters but apart from that it’s all good. Next will be window tinting once the lockdown is eased.
  17. Ah, that would explain it. The muck and water has probably got in and ruined the joint.
  18. Robots, metal, plastic, glass & rubber.

You can turn the voice activation off in the sub menu but don’t think you can disable the steering wheel button activation
  20. I would be taking the vehicle into an authorised body repair to have it checked fully.on the two occasions we’ve had rear end damage it hasn’t looked particularly bad on first look but when fully checked by the garage we were shown the full extent of the body damage underneath the plastic,it’s done it’s job once to reduce the impact and may not stop an impact crash a second time so I wouldn’t take and chances and get the best job done, that’s why we get insurance.
  21. Not significant but enough for their SW to highlight that it was out of tolerance but the thought did cross my mind about competence. Though I can't fault their efficiency and pricing today. Perhaps as you imply they just did not feel confident in doing the alignment.
  22. I had someone reverse into me years ago with what looked like just a couple of minor scratches, but removing the bumper most of the mounting points were smashed.
  23. Picked up my estate SEL DSG 150 in Quartz Grey. now having the fun of trying to get the keys personalised...
  24. First off, to newbie69, i'm commenting here as i don't want to clutter your 272 remap thread with stuff that's relative to the 280. I don't want you thinking i'm being rude or ignorant. Today i had the apr stage 2 flash done. I thought stage 1 was good, but this is even better, but it comes at a cost. The downpipe and mid pipe (without resonator) cost 1045 quid alone. The remap was 120 quid. I'm still on the standard spark plugs because the tuner can't get any better ones till March. It's now running 1.8 bar of boost. Its 385bhp and 412ft/lb of torque. It will take a while to get used to because it pulls even harder now than stage 1. I'm not so sure if i like the exhaust note though when pressing on. It sounds like the baffles are being blown out the standard backboxes. Above 2600 revs there's a boom. I think i can live with this, i'll just have to drive slower if i'm carrying passengers. As for economy, time will tell, but my 12 mile drive home from the tuners showed 20.9mpg. Gulp! Edit - Just to say that after a few more run outs, mpg has gone up. Some runs have returned 28mpg, others have done 32mpg, so no worse than stage 1 was.
  25. Great result. you have to be fair to some dealers as on the flip side of the coin they might assume you'd remapped the car or messed with it, so many folk do so no it's fair to presume sometimes. you just don't know if previous owner has put some dodgy map or similar on it! Glad it got sorted anyway and sounds like a good dealer to stick with, to me.
  26. Heat, blowtorch-carefully Also try tightening it a fraction before attempting removal.
  27. Don't get too fussed up about dyno numbers, they don't tell all the story and with that much torque (558Nm is A LOT!) I bet it flies now... You went with APR? How do you feel it? I'm sure it should be in the 10s in the 100-200 run. Mine didn't even get that high in terms of torque, at least from the ECU readings, seemed to be topping about 515Nm but that wasn't on a dyno, maybe there it shows a higher figure (not that I care too much really, but I have booked a dyno session later this month so I will report back with the figures shown there. Get a Dragy! That's all that counts!
  28. If you are just trying to address the issue when loaded, why not use MADhelper springs or Gayston Spring Assisters? Helper Springs from Ekollon | Securing Heavily Loaded Cars (mad-suspension.co.uk) Spring Assisters (grayston.biz) I have the latter on our Octavia 4x4 Estate and they do the job for when I have a fully loaded boot and 4 bikes on the towbar mounted rack.
  29. I would prefer OEM taillights, they look the best in my opinion. But that's subjective taste, heh. 😄 All together looks like it's going to be a nicely stanced Octy! 🤘🏼
  30. Many of the new brochures (Dec 2020) for various models and specs now state low rolling resistance tyres (in the tables marked technical info towards end of brochure), although some are still tyre size without this qualifier It appears Skoda UK are changing over to these (possibly some sizes not yet available). These are basically eco summer tyres (they are harder), great for getting a marginally better mpg figure and slightly lower CO2 figure at +23c (the WLTP test temperature). Unfortunately the mean temperature in UK is nowhere near +23c These eco summer (low rolling resistance as Skoda UK call them) are hard and poor in the wet below about +10c (it is a lower temp in dry), and completely useless in cold rain, sleet, slush, snow etc. So are unsuitable for all year use in UK, where many months of wet weather below +10c exist Does @nickcoll need the 4wd system (and just look at the extra weight in the brochure, in those technical tables, its like adding a few bags of cement and carrying it around all year), or do you simply need different tyres to what Skoda UK will supply (my recommendation for all year use is Goodyear Vector 4season Generation3 or Continental all season contact)
  31. Ouch, sorry to hear of the delay. But with the latest rounds of lockdowns, I fear it was probably inevitable. I've had my Kamiq since early September, but only managed 1059 miles in that 4 month period. Due to lockdowns, so not had the pleasure to take it for a family "holiday" and all that entails. The one thing I love in this winter snap...is the heated front windscreen. To get back on topic.. you are getting the "SE edition, 1.0TSI 116PS DSG 7spd with no extra options added" The car is imo fantastic, it does what it says on the tin. The view from the drivers position shows a raised bonnet, that gives it a feel of a larger SUV. (been in other similar sized SUV's and cant see bonnet) . Boot space was fine for my Labrador (took dog to showroom, just to check before i bought it). As others have mentioned, the DSG box is very nice and if i were you, use the S mode in urban, the D mode on open road. bit simplistic, but hey! The screen you will have will be different to mine. But ensure you get the dealer to walk through it in depth when you collect your car. Its a whole new generation of crapp ass computing "what the hell" type of driving. And on that note just mention that you should try and find as many youtube videos of the car you want to buy.
  32. It's more than "it doesn't seem to include...". It doesn't at all, indeed! Simple reminder :
  33. Ah, That makes sence, I've just checked the last mot, and an advisory was near side CV boot perished. Looks like this will be my next job then after doing the radiator.. Thanks 😊 Feel like I'm making progress. Lol
  34. You could just replace the outer CV joint. In my experience the inner ones hardly ever give trouble. Example... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Audi-A2-Skoda-Fabia-Roomster-Quality-Front-CV-Joint-Kit-ABS-Drive-Shaft/192701070904?epid=1650533249&hash=item2cdde0fe38:g:UQ8AAOSwRNhb0df8
  35. You may find that its the standard MQB platform battery tray underneath, it was on my 2015 Yeti and an OE full battery cover assembly, top and two lower sections was next to nothing from Ali-Express and clipped straight into place, with the OE set up the lid is properly located and clipped into place, there is no chance of it coming adrift. It looks much neater with the correct plastic sides but the aftermarket push on upper cover looks as decent as the OE one.
  36. Maybe it has optional acoustic glazing (I don't know the right word). https://www.skodacommunity.de/threads/akustikverglasung.132255/ We have MK4 2.0 TDI 115hp with this option and the noise insulation is much better compared to Octavia MK3. Regarding the wind noise it's at least as good as MB C class (W205) if not better. The tyre/road noise insulation is better at Merc.
  37. Had arranged with the dealer to pick up my new Superb 150 BHP SEL DSG estate in Quartz Grey on Monday. however, mrumours that in England Click and Collect might be banned until March from the weekend, I’m picking it up tomorrow! Result! Lol
  38. -24C outside. Car wasn't warm after 30 min Webasto this morning... happy I was doing some other stuff so I left the heater running while picking up my packages... then I stopped on the way home for a coffee and saw the temperatures drop from 90 to less than 50 in a five minute stop. Might need to get one of those grill covers if this continues. 6.3l/100 homeward bound, too :/
  39. He he no worries. If you are aiming middle of the range 90bhp plus then you have on choice in the swift... The SZT with the same boosterjet triple but no hybrid element - at least post 2017 as the only other option was a N/A 1.2 that's rather feeble. The SZT is still a good spec though and doesn't miss out on much. However, bear in mind that if £10k is your budget both the SZT and SZ5 should be in budget for low mileage second hand examples (I didn't pay much more for a 1year old car with 800 miles on the clock that at that point in time had sat in a showroom for the best part of its life.
  40. Just picked up the car, clutch was replaced under warranty as a small oil leak found. Great service from them as to be honest they could quite easily have taken me for a grand! Before I knew the result I spoke with the dealer I bought it from and the Manager told me to contact him before paying if they did try and charge me, so fills me with a bit of confidence that they’re not all out to rip us off. Thanks all for your advice, I will be writing to Skoda UK to complain about the defect on an “Approved” used Skoda, just in case there is an underlying issue that may reoccur in another 15k miles.
  41. Driveable -yes Enjoyable - no Just my opinion.
  42. I'm not sure even an online video of a car would convince me. When I bought my car it was advertised by two different car dealerships on Autotrader - 1 in Bournemouth & 1 in Glasgow. Same car, same reg, same pictures. I wasn't sure if I was going to drive north or south to view it until I spoke to the Bournemouth Dealer. It turned out that the Glasgow car listing on Autotrader was a fake & was taken down!! I got the Bournemouth dealer sales guy to face time me & show me that the car was physically at his location on his mobile. Only then did I agree to drive down to have a look at it & I refused his offer of an online deposit to "reserve the car because it was rarer than hen's teeth" - that old chestnut. It was probably rare but I detest that sort of sales tactic. Also the tactic they employ when it comes to price / discount where they have to go have a word with their manager. I told my guy he'll get one chance to offer me a discount for cash & one chance to give me a decent trade in on my old 175,000 mile 10Reg S2 Superb Estate 170 Diesel or, I would walk away. It worked. I got a discount for cash, decent trade in, a free refurb for the Alloys, free replacement door umbrellas which had gone missing as had the front & rear seat mats - which they also like to use a a deal sweetener. Grrrrr That said he did get me on gap insurance. I agree with the power. Not for blasting everywhere at illegal speeds but good for getting onto roundabouts & joining motorways smartly without any fuss & for safe overtaking. The 4 x 4 system makes this possible. Without it the car would just spin the front wheels - like the lesser powered 2WD 190 / 220 petrol & diesels do. Parking - you get used to the size fairly quickly. I just use the rear sensors & mirrors for reverse parking & I don't look over my shoulder at all. My L&K has park Assist but I don't use it. It also has lane assist - turned it off because it meddles to much. 280/272's drink from the 99RON pump (or should do for best performance) so fuel consumption & fuel cost won't make it the cheapest thing to run. If that's what you need then a 1.5TSi petrol or diesel is what you need to look at. Tesco Momentum 99RON is my normal choice of fuel from the socially distanced "pay at pump" equipped Tesco near me. Interestingly the local / nearer Esso has nothing more than 95RON fuel & Shell V Power is more expensive. Approx £75 to fill up with under a 1/4 tank showing on the fuel gauge & 560 miles on the trip. These days I don't look too closely at my fuel receipts as it would only depress me. 280/272's are not as rare as everyone makes out. I just did a search on Autotrader & there 19 estate/hatch 280 / 272 4 x 4's on there from £16k to £36k. 1 in Bedford is going for £18.5k is a 2017 Sportline estate with "Skoda fitted" 330bhp remap. 65k on the clock though so may not be what you are looking for. Good luck with your purchase.
  43. Personaly I'd not be paying a never ending monthly, and would buy a reliable old Honda CRV or Totota Rav4 for £5000. It's going to have more than 3yrs 30k life left in it, and will be worth at least £2500 in 3yrs time! £69 per month, no depost, no mileage limits and no penalty for sending it back with minor damage! Mind you , I'm tight and without people buying new cars, I wouldn't have second hand ones to buy.
  44. Immobiliser. Do you have a second key to try?
  45. I just had a thought just now, do you have a spare fuel pump relay that you can try at all?. If not, you could temporarily by pass the relay just to test if it is that or not.
  46. The 1602 code is there because the battery leads were removed to change the battery. You can clear that and it should not come back. Have you checked all your fuses are intact?, in both the cabin fuse box, and the battery fuse box?. It sounds like either the car immobiliser is trying to cut the car dead or your fuel pump is not fully priming. Are you trying to start the car without using any throttle input?, if so, what happens if you use about 1/3 throttle?, does it rev and stay running or just die?
  47. Got the spacers fitted last week - H&R hubcentric, 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rear. Wheels filling the arches nicely now 😎
