The dealer must be really looking forward to your next visit ...😆
  2. Couple of pointers:: You can get 8 full bags of coal and 4 bales of BNM briquettes in a combi boot with the seats down. A washing machine fits with the back seat in place. It's 5 to 6 inches longer than a hatchback boot. A child's push chair and a week's food shopping for a family of 4 fit nicely in the boot of the combi - not so the hatchback. The saloon is the same length as the estate but you obviously miss out on the extra hight at the hatch. In my experience, the combi is much more practical than the hatch and better looking shape "to boot" ..... If you don't mind the pun.
  3. Keep it friendly in here please!

That's not how it works. Only new models coming out after that date will need it. Octavia counts as an old model so it won't need to have the system.
  5. I did a bit of digging on here, from this thread: A Mk1 Fabia Hatch has a boot capacity of 260 Litres. A Mk1 Fabia Estate has a boot capacity of 426 Litres.

So I went ahead and cancelled my order. I'll give a little update below. For context I ordered a vRS back in July 2021. It transitioned to "accepted and on order with the factory" in August and has not changed in the six months since then. I called the dealer earlier today (Skoda York, UK) and had a chat. He confirmed many of the things that have been discussed on this forum: The dealer receives no useful information from Skoda regarding the status of an order, especially before a build date has been provided Orders are fulfilled in a seemingly arbitrary way; he had an order for an Enyaq in November that has already been delivered, but many customers who ordered the same car earlier in the year have received no information at all Octavia vRS's seem to be more affected than other models He said that the status of my order hasn't moved from "zero-zero" since August, which essentially means the dealer has no information from the factory. He was happy to refund my deposit (£500) because of the amount of time I've been waiting with no information. He was very apologetic about the situation, but I explained that I'd been watching these forums and knew that the dealers weren't to blame. Good luck to everyone waiting on cars, but this is the end of my Skoda journey for now.
  7. Unless the point is to make you jealous and/or annoy or upset you, in which case I'd argue it has proved its point 😜. On a slightly more serious note - isn't any car that can do more than 70mph pointless in this country? Or any car that has less than 5 seats? Or any car that has less than x litres of boot space? The point of the Kodiaq VRS is to give middle aged idiots like me something that's pretty decent fun to drive, but can still carry around the entire family + dog + bikes, and/or a boot full of crap from Ikea. It's a jack of all trades, and even if it doesn't quite master any of them perfectly, you can't really argue that it's pointless.
  8. Herewith an update now also with the new STEG mss1 tweeters setup and the cover panel in the booth 😎 Have also different bigger tweeter mounting caps (a pillars made for those) but now actually liking this look more.

I just did this Glenn- hazards on, hold down 00 button, turn ignition on then release 00 button and immediately press left button. Switch off hazards and turn off ignition. Thats it done. I wrote this to help everyone as I tried following what had been written and it was not clear.

Hi, I ordered a new Octavia 1.5 DSG estate back in Oct 2021 in the UK. Dealer said the delivery time would 34 weeks and that was only an approximate. Can't wait any longer and I'm seriously considering cancelling the order and reading this thread seems a lot of people are in the same boat. Won't be ordering a another car from another manufacturer though. The father-in-law is getting on a bit now and is thinking of stopping driving altogether and passing his car onto us. It won't be brand spanking new, but at least we'll have a car.
  11. Funny you should say that, Pete... Sure, the lamp was a little damaged, but it was getting sent to the tip anyway.
  12. There were 3 models. A bit like the 3 bears. Hatch - baby bear Saloon - mammy bear Combi - daddy bear
  13. On that note... "Ryan, you don't need the estate, you'll never need that much space..." they said.
  14. This has completely spiralled out of control, if the car has failed on emissions there should be a readout from the gas analyser stapled to the fail sheet. Please post a picture so we can clearly see the readings.
  15. This sums up my personal position perfectly (and I wish I could have said in my original answer!) For better or worse I have lot's of cars to compare it to, so would always be underwhelmed.
  16. It looks like my peugeot 306 hatchback boot but bigger. It's something I may add to my collection at some point when the next bargain comes along.
  17. Here's the estate with the seats up....
  18. My old 150PS Kodiaq had enough punch for overtaking - even when fully loaded. My new 245PS Kodiaq has more than enough. If you rely on excessive power to make up for poor driving skills and road sense, then that's a different problem entirely. As for merging lanes... yes, more power is always going to be the answer as you always have to get around those extra few cars and dive in at the last possible moment 🤦‍♂️.
  19. Hi all, I’ve ordered a new Kodiaq too, a VRS in moon white, 129 days and counting- couldn’t resist the fantastic deal. Still no build date but hopefully soon. Anyway, I have a Kodiaq Sportline currently and previously had a Superb Estate L&K. I love both cars, but the Kodiaq just pips it for me in terms of getting older family members in and out. It can also get me to my favourite fishing spots without grounding out like the Superb did and a roof rack awning gives me better headroom too. I guess the point is that every car is a compromise and we all have good reasons for choosing the ones we do. I’ve gone with a VRS this time as, while it’s not a sports car, it’ll still be the fastest thing I’ve personally driven. I have nothing to compare it to so it’ll feel fast to me and I love the inside of it. Have gone with ventilated leather seats, winter and sleep packs and a towbar. Watching everyone’s waiting times with interest 😳
  20. Will Skoda change their strap line from Simply Clever to Deliver Never?
  21. At least it doesn’t restarts itselft during driving without any warning.. ..oh wait

Sure, the backlog is not helping their cashflow; however, a cancelled order is great news for their profit... You canceling at the dealer's doesn't mean the order is cancelled at the factory. With an unknown delay the car will arrive at the dealer, who will be able to sell it immediately with the prices we now see on the CarConfigurator. However, the price he will pay to the Factory will be the one contracted last summer (when you placed the order) - hence a net profit of several kEuro. Not saying you shouldn't have canceled; I completely understand your personal reasons. It's one of those cases when you shouldn't wait, but make a decision. And as I said before: not having any info from the dealer, is far worse than knowing you will be delayed for N months.

A salesperson who ordered my car has actually quit his job at Skoda dealer. Ain't good to sell the cars if there's nothing to sell. He's a nice guy, I hope he finds a better place with some cars to actually sell.
  24. I would start by replacing the ECT sensor since it seems there's a loose correlation with engine temperature. Straight faces please chaps, no banter, the fun police are lurking!
  25. Lol sep then get it down to the pig farm yes

I'm about to. I can't wait any longer. They told me 25 week of 2022 but they're not 100% sure about that. I ordered the car 14th of September. My baby is due in 2 months, we have an old 3 door Peugeot 206. My local Mazda dealer has a Mazda 3 sedan coming in by end of the month, the price is the same, it has more equipment. It's just less practical than the Octavia but I think we'll manage with just one kid. If I have another I'll change the car, hopefully the chip situation will be sorted by then. The dealer said that they give the deposit back, and it's just 1000 kuna, or ~ £120. On the contract it says they're not giving it back so we'll see when I call them.
  27. Hello Briskodians, I would like to offer a repair service for some types of electric window motor module as fitted to a few Skoda models, as well as one or two VWs. At this stage it applies only to two specific, exact part numbers fitted to the driver's side front door, as follows: 6Y2959802 Fitted to later Mk1 Fabia, from around October 2004. 6Y1959801 Fitted to Very early Mk2 Fabia and Roomster until end of October 2007; as well as 9N3 Polo and a few Transporters. (And some late 9N Polos I have learned). Private Message me a VIN if you'd like me to check whether your car has this part number fitted. (As described a few posts below, either of the above part numbers + suffix A on the end can also be repaired. Also happy to try with units of the subsequent generation, with part numbers 6Q1959801F, G, H, or J.) Note that both of these are driver's side units, the difference in part numbering is due to the orientation/positioning of the motor module on the panels they mount to. These parts suffer a type of intermittent, progressive failure where they 'sometimes work fine, sometimes don't work at all'. Eventually they just completely stop working. This is what I can fix for you. I will test your faulty unit, confirm the problem, repair it to full working order and post it back to you for £59, total. You'd post it to me - less than 1Kg so can be sent for around £4.25 on a tracked24 service purchased online at Royal Mail. I would aim to turn it round within 2 days of receipt, and send it back tracked24. This is the what the part looks like: Central locking via remote will still work in the absence of the window module, so you will be able to secure the car as normal while it is away. Obviously you'll want to ensure that both front windows are fully shut, as in the absence of the driver's side module the passenger side one will not operate. New units are no longer available from Skoda/VW, and ebay 2nd hand ones with these part numbers tend to go for big bucks. I will charge you just £59 including return postage. Cheers, Pete Edit 30/08/25: To get in touch, please click on my username which will take you to my profile, with contact info.
  28. Hi all. I am after this part (H) so I can fit the rails to my Roomy. Does anyone have one or know what it's called so I can order one from skoda please. Thank you.
  29. That was back when I was naïve to believe the nonsense quotes on the stuff. It did sweet **** all. So Sep won't have to panic, I learned my lesson.
  30. I spy someone with an additive looks like redex gasp 🤯
  31. A brush cutter thus angled in the combi you can close the boot lid. In the hatchback it protrudes over the bumper.
  32. Same here, Lee... at least it's better than the saloon though.
  33. There is no manifold cat on a BKY, as I realised a bit late in the discussion. The pre-cat on an original section is the fat bit up by the four-stud connection to the manifold. Forget about it. Anything but a megabucks genuine replacement won't have it.
  34. Those two statements are contradictory and the superb photo that you have posted (worth a million words) would indicate that the Combi/Estate is longer than the hatchback which I assume you meant when you spoke of the saloon. Yes it looks much more stylish on that photograph to my admittedly biased eyes.
  35. Terve! Long-time lurker, first time poster on this forum. I'm an English major film buff from Finland with a bit of experience wrenching on motorcycles and tractors. I've had my 2009 1.6 Fabia Combi for a while now, bought it used sight-unseen at an auction with 215K on the clock and have since put some 35K into it. My experience from the auction and Fabia was mostly very pleasant because of my only frame of referrence having been the 2001 Fiat Stilo 1.8 I had before, which deappreciated to a point of not being worth the upkeep. In terms of use, the Fabia has seen mostly city use along with a few longer trips back home now and then. So far I've only worked out problems as they come up: cleared out about 1 kg of dog hair and spittle when I received the car, more or less fixed the wiring loom in the doors (still lose the 'door open' signal when driverside is fully open), replaced the rear window wiper motor (you bet the brass tube was corroded through!) and have replaced the transmission oil - my first experience of actually crawling under the car, can't say I enjoy having the hot engine right on top of my head. I'm not sure how long the car will go for, so I haven't put too much effort into fixing certain things like the scratched up rear window or adding a tow bar, despite needing it from time to time and actually owning a utility trailer. Hopefully I'll find some answers here.
  36. Agreed i can still apreciate a nice car but not the kittenss that drive them
  37. I agree. I was choosing between Superb and Kodiaq, but as Kodiaq didn't have a sufficient engine it should have for a vehicle this size, I chose Superb. Now I understand Superb is no performance auto, I just want a fully loaded car to have enough punch for overtaking or merging lanes.

It's not the waiting time that's the issue, it's the lack of information. At least you received a bunch of build weeks that kept slipping; my order didn't even get that in 7 months. Literally no sign of progress. The dealer assured me that they've been chasing all the outstanding orders throughout. Mine never moved from status "zero-zero", which means there simply was no information that Skoda could provide to the dealership. The dealers don't want a huge backlog of waiting customers; it does nothing for their cashflow.
  39. I imagine that must have cost a pretty penny back in the day!
  40. VRS if you can afford it then it should be done. And If your ordering new, I would recommend getting the DCC option. I have the same car as you currently and I would not be without it
  41. Can you confirm where you are looking from? 😆 The convention is that number one cylinder is the one nearest the crankshaft pulley and furthest from the flywheel, the latter should actually be "furthest from where the drive is transmitted" to avoid confusion on oddball engines like the FWD Triumph 1300 with its starter ring gear carrier on the front pulley.
  42. ^ I don't understand the rubber cover statement!!
  43. This can happen with updates, it happened with our Formentor prior to collecting They'll get it sorted, dealers are just limited as to what they can do without support from further up the pyramid

  46. Hello and welcome to Briskoda, Dean!
  47. +1 for Car Shades. Had them 4 years and not experienced any fading - I guess it could have helped that my car also has sunset glass? Daughter can see out fine and no issues with visibility (also got them on the back screen). Fantastic for security.
